Just this August, the director of the studio that remastered the Shadow of the Colossus for PS4 mentioned that he loves Legend of Dragoon and that "Perhaps that should be a project."
The game was awesome, but it took people who wanted to learn a game rather than pick something up and be good at instantly. Once i got a handle on the timing for additions i fell in love with the combat system.
I went some eight years without playing it at one point, then loaded up one of the latter saves and found myself still able to pull off most of the characters final Additions flawlessly (except for counter attacks, those took a while to get back into the muscle memory)
I remember watching the commercial. Every once in a while, "Nigel, he cut my head off!" will just pop into my brain for no reason. Why? Because this is still my favorite game and will continue to be so.
Loved this game. What I liked most about it, was that even though it was a turn based game, through the use of additions, you were actually involved in the fighting. It wasn't just click, click. No, in fact, you needed to time your moves right to make sure the combo was completed. If you messed up, then you'd deal less (or no) damage, and you'd lose out on SP, which you need to turn into a dragoon. I wish game companies would bring that idea back- it'd make so many RPGs better.
i remember i wanted to buy this game so freaken bad, i even remember the day, i sat in the mall reading the book that came with it, and couldnt wait to play it. it was worth it! still my number one favorite game
I just wish the game had additions for the dragoons as well. It would have made transforming that much better. Game is still my all time favorite though.
I haven’t seen the Legend of Dragoon Commercial because I was 5 or 6 back then and I only watched shows on Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Fox Kids. I guess the Legend of Dragoon Commercials were shown on MTV, Adult Swim, Fox, Comedy Central and maybe NBC. If Legend of Dragoon gets a PS5/PS6/PS7 remake, there should be an extended version of this commercial where Dart and Lloyd are going over their lines before the climatic fight. Or perhaps a parody of the Legend of Dragoon cast giving an interview what it’s like on the set, like Kongol’s actor being the exact opposite of his character, Dart’s actor being in a relationship with Rose’s actress, Meru’s actress being one of those teen actors who is being groomed by the director, Albert’s actor is more than friends with Lavtiz’s actor in real life, Shana’s actress being a primadonna on set, Haschel’s actor not getting along with Miranda’s actress and much more. All of this “behind the scene” moments will be unlock by collecting some sort of action figure resembling a Legend of Dragoon character in the remake.
If they make a second game they need to hire a professional translator. The localization for this game was god awful. It's understandable for games to have a few translation flaws throughout the game, but, in this game it's like they used the worst translator they could find then added the results into the game without even checking the results. Literally the entire game was poorly translated. They also would need to fix the extreme load times between each battle and changing maps (a lot of other JRPGS of the same gen didn't have nearly as bad load times) which dragged the game down severely considering it's graphics were also lower quality than other games in the same era. Final Fantasy 8 for example was made the same year, has better graphics, and is still more stable.
If I recall, a lot of the localization teams were understaffed pushing in a sudden flux of popular Square games in the span of 4 years, they had maybe 2-4 guys translating entire novels worth of dialogue across several different games. The infamous Final Fantasy Tactics had 2 guys working on it, but they rushed the American release as soon as Final Fantasy games came into demand thanks to FF7.
Most Japanese games from the 80s and 90s had bad translations. I glad that lots of Fan Translations and Retranslations exist for some games we had that were really poorly translated.
I miss this time of my life - it wasn't just LoD, it was no social media, playing outside as a child with my friends, NASCAR races and football with mom and dad. Idk guys, not trying to be emotional but i genuinely feel like the 90's was the best time. Everything back then just felt so magical, the perfect mix of new arising technology and the closeness of interacting with people day-to-day. I Just feel like everyone as of today, is too consumed with internet, social media, and the videos games do not get that much love put into them. I think maybe I'm just getting older and become more desensitized to life and it's sad :(

Man, they even made the commercials movie trailer themed like the FFVII commercials. They were NOT subtle about wanting this to be a Final Fantasy competitor.
The voice from Dart in this video sounds like Billy Kemetz who is known for voicing Josuke from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable and Naofumi from Rising of the Shield Hero.

I had the memory of this commercial in my head for the longest time, I thought it was a FF8 commercial with Siefer and Squall for the longest time until I saw this lol
when i first saw this add it was long before i got the game and when i did get the game i vaguely remembered the add... the add is good, but that last part is so different from the game itself.
combat system is more evolved, the story is spectacular, the cinematic graphics were an 10/10 the time it came out, looks kinda like early PS3 game graphics, the game is way better than the FF franchise. I say this game beats FFVII you should check it out, its on PSN for $5.99
It's not hard to beat FFVII. Most people only fell in love with it because it was their first turn-based RPG. Those of us that played IV or VI had already seen better from the game's own franchise.

@EvanSSBB yes this game Deserves it, because it had a great story, memorable characters and a pretty good sound track for it at the time, and I like the addtion system, it meant you could do more then one attack and up your damage delt
I remember this one. One of my favorite PlayStation commercials was the one where this guy brings a PlayStation to this guru at the top of some mountain somewhere. The guru opens it up and he's like, "No game?!" after which he proceeds to bitchslap the guy.
What the hell was up with that ending?!?!? This game is a great and very serious game! That aggravates me a little that this was an actual commercial for a great game
I think the end of this commercial was poking fun at the games horrible dubbing job. the game itself was AWESOME and original (and had one of the hottest heroines I have ever seen), but the english dubbing job (and the repeated typos) were kinda painful.

Legend Of Dragoon was released in North America in 2000, and it's one of my personal favorite games!
i got it for my 6th b-day. it was the first PS game i ever got and the first t rated game i ever played. it was the best thing ever
