it seems like a cool course but it also seems to break the rules of a qualifying passage unless only 2 of those guys were qualifying... The qualifying passage is only for the skipper or mate in sole charge of a watch for the whole passage. Transferring the skipper role nullifies the qualifying passage and the mate is any person on board who has sole responsibility for managing a navigational watch during a passage so changing the watch role would also disqualify the passage.

My thought is that the skipper and mate all already Yachmaster Instructors, they can delegate the task to stand-in skipper and mate and that for both passages. In theory, 4 can be certified in total. Does that make any sense? I wish to take the course btw.

from the RYA website - If the skipper's role is transferred to another person at any time during a passage then neither person can claim to have skippered that passage.
