Another lovely video Ariane. I find it helpful to use a pair of long nosed tweezers to get the freezer paper out as I’m finishing. I slide the one side between the velvet and the paper and help loosen it. Then I roll the tweezers over to help pull it away from the edges and keep rolling and bring the paper out of the opening. Lovely wood stencil design you used.
Thank you Sandi. I think ppl will find this helpful. Also don’t apply the iron for too long! That’s why I added the text “Stop!” And “Stop talking” during it because I wasn’t paying attention to just how long I was keeping the iron on, which is kind of funny since I was saying not to do exactly what I was then doing! I could have edited all of that out, but thought it probably more helpful to keep it in and then show the struggle. 😳
Your demo videos are fantastic! As a lefty always trying to adapt the right-handed stitch diagrams to a lefty, your visuals are so much easier to understand. Please demo the buttonhole stitch even though I have not found it in Sue’s book. Than you!
After watching your open button hole video, I am referring more accurately for a demo on the blanket stitch. I always have trouble starting and remembering if I should be working clockwise or counterclockwise when stitching the blanket stitch. Thanks, please keep making these stitch videos!
@@claudiamielke8371 - thanks so much for clarifying Claudia. The blanket stitch... I'm happy to add it to my list. It is not included in Sue's book, but I will demo it. Give me a week or so.
This is how I do my applique. I iron two sheets of freezer paper together- shiny side of one sheet to the paper side of the other sheet of freezer paper. I also leave a long tale so that when I come around I can tie off the threads together and tie a knot.
wonderful tutorial - very clear instructions and great camera work. Your work is so beautiful. i LOVED the velvet embossing! did you make your own stamp?
San Schmidt thanks so much San. Please take a look at the links I provide below (if you’re on your phone, it may be harder to see than on your computer) for the wooden stamps similar to what I used in this video. The link will take you directly to the correct page.
So if one uses a velvet embossed circle for a quilt block will it wash out? Is t just heat flattening the design? Is it appropriate to use for quilt blocks?
Thank you for sharing this wonderful tutorial

@@ArianeZurcher212 LOL I was saying that as the words popped up. I like that you kept it in to show you can work around an issue.

If you perforate the paper into four quarters ,it’s easy to remove.
Great tip! Thanks for reaching out.
I caught a glimpse of your needle book. Would you please tell us about it? Thank you, Stay well.
Hi Sharon, yes, it’s a needle roll. The kit is Sue Spargo’s. I’ll try to remember to put a link for it in the description section tomorrow morning.
Ariane Zurcher - On the Other Hand Thank you 😊
So if one uses a velvet embossed circle for a quilt block will it wash out? Is t just heat flattening the design? Is it appropriate to use for quilt blocks?
Definitely will wash out as it's just heat set and the minute it's washed, all of the embossing will be washed away. ❤️
Does the embossing stay pretty well? Never have seen this done! Beautiful!!
Yes! I have some pieces that are more than 4 yrs old and they are still great!
Fun

Love the embossed silk velvet! Do you have a source for it? Thank you!
SueSpargo.com does wonderfully luscious hand dyed silk velvet. For the embossing I put links to the wooden blocks I like in the description section.

If the velvet is washed at some point, will be embossing disappear?
I would think so. I do not wash mine, so I cannot say for sure, but I'm guessing that it would.
