    This reminds me of when I was a very little girl and I heard about the “unforgivable sin” (that is the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit) My wise father told me that if I was concerned about it I was not guilty of it! That set me free! Narcissists don’t worry about how toxic they are. It is always someone else’s fault. They are not given to introspection.

    I am about to turn 59 and have only now after 21yrs of marriage started to fully understand the relationship I have been in with my husband! Shareen I cannot thank you enough for dealing with this topic from a biblical perspective! I have gained some insight from others who teach on this topic but now that I have found your channel I am so encouraged! I am gaining new biblical perspectives every day and new courage to face my situation with God's strength and the knowledge of who I am in Christ! Thank you so much for this video. For a long time I kept asking myself if I was the narcissist. No. I was a people pleaser surrounded by a family of narcissists. Most of my friends were also narcissists until I got so sick of them I cut them off. Not so easy to do with family and I’m in therapy to deal with them. What I’ve learned is forgiving and reconciling are two different things. I deserve peace, respect, and happiness. Pray and love them from a distance.

    Brilliant teaching, brings to mind what Jesus says for it is written:
    Matthew 6:23 But if your eyes are bad ,your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness !.
    It is also written, let your yes be yes and no be no anything else comes from the evil one.
    I learnt by simply answering yes or no to questions from the narcissist puts them in a position of not knowing what to say next , the word of God is living and active sharper than any double edged sword.
    Glory to God.

    I am so thankful for this video…. It’s a huge relief as often I questioned if the narcissist was myself… I also asked my psychologist at the time and she simply answered that if I were the narcissist, I would not have been so affected by the relation dynamics, nor would I have sought help. God bless. On the other hand, my ex husband just easily moved on after the discard, even though he plays the victim.

    Timely video. I'm down to the last couple of weeks before the courts dissolve my 17 year marriage. Interestingly, he has not approached me directly to save the marriage, but he's done everything possible to prolong it through the courts. I'm struggling with anxiety and asking myself if I've done everything possible to save the marriage. I know in my head, that I have, it's just difficult to understand his inability to self reflect on his behavior. I'm a fixer, and struggle with taking on responsibilities that are his. Once, this is over, I will embrace, "the gift of single living".

    • @ShaneenMegji

      I pray that God will give you much grace in these next two weeks to navigate everything in the courts. Yes, some narcissists will avoid self-reflecting at all costs, especially if they have gotten through life deflecting and blame-shifting on everyone else. That said, I pray for much peace for you in these next weeks, and God to fill you with His love in Jesus' name. 🙏🏽😊🕊💕

    I’m not sure about this, but I have an alternative hypothesis: the narcissist doesn’t sin because they feel shame. They in fact feel shame because of their sin. And beyond this, the conscious decision to deny their sin. Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Psychiatry would say that shame is the origin, but Genesis would suggest that all narcissists at some earlier point have made a conscious decision to rebel.

    I confronted a suspected covert narcissist at my church after she covertly approached my beloved pastor without knowledge nor involvement of the Governing Board (the pastor abruptly quit when she "attacked"). I received the whole gamut of narcissistic responses from her ... deflection, gas-lighting, crocodile tears, playing the victim, not apologetic in the slightest, history reframing, passive aggression, stonewalling, haughty contempt, self-righteousness, etc.
    I have since left that congregation but I continue to pray that God will turn the narcissist and her husband back to God. I pray that God will also heal my inner wounds that allowed my dirt to come to the surface when I was put to the test. I also pray for my old congregation so that other Christians will not become victims (both directly and indirectly).
    I thank God for protecting myself, my pastor, and others from attacks from the enemy - those that humble themselves to God will be led through the trial safely!

    I’ll admit, to my shame that where I began playing my exes at their own game I became *narcissistic* & I’m only now - over a year after my last relationship ended - getting over that negative influence & stopping acting like a narcissist myself when I feel slighted or criticised, but I am - with all humility - sure I’m not an actual narcissist & will continue to get better, as I’ve always had too much genuine empathy to be a a narcissist & I am self-reflecting on my misdeeds now that I’m away from said negative influence. It’s a painfully shameful experience, but a healing one that I need to suffer through in order to come-out a better person on the other side.

    Thank you again for another insightful video. I'm at the stage where it is sinking in that such persons exist. Thank you so much for the illustration with the jars. I can clearly see that the difference is one of conviction. Whenever we do or react wrongly the Holy Spirit that is given to everyone convicts our consciences and leads us to see our errors with the purpose of repentance and change. If we refuse to admit, our consciences become "seared" and we lose the ability to see ourselves and are left in delusion. If the light within us is really darkness, how great is that darkness...this sums up the Narcissist perfectly and why those of us who still have an active conscience needs to avoid them.

    Thank you Shaneen for your message. Always looking forward to your next video. Keep going, you help many.
    Yes, she had this way of calling out behavior in me, that was not true. She would often say, “It is always about me” or “I never listen” or “I would throw her under the bus” or “We don’t have the same standards “. By this she was suggesting, I’m selfish and don’t appreciate her. I invested so much time and energy into her, it started to feel like I’m just pouring into a black hole. So I knew it was all false accusations, but I kept trying to proof her wrong. At the end I realized she accused me of the things that she struggled with in herself. It was about how she could regulate her own insecurity in relationships by blaming me for being in the wrong and being selfish. Yes I pray Jeremiah 23:29, that His Word would break through these strongholds, these concrete walls, that regulate her and other like minded people. I pray that God would keep knocking, keep “hammering “, till she breaks and obeys Him. He can do anything!! Amen!!

    Yes growing up with a narc father some of it must have rubbed off on me. He destroyed me emotionally the same as he was by his parent. But i believe my Christian faith has saved me from this.

    I am confused about someone who behaves frequently in a narcissistic way, but acknowledges what they say/do is not right, and they feel terrible afterwards. They also insist their "meltdowns" are due to ptsd, and I didn't know them before so I honestly don't know.

    • @liz4247
      @liz4247 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think narcissism is complex PSTD so it might be true, but it doesn't matter why they act that way if they consistently continue to act in a way that damages and degrades you.

    The gaslighting gets REALLY confusing when the narcissist gets enough experiences enough through age to PRETEND that they are aware and keep gaslighting that they do in fact self-reflect...but the tell is their behaviour is still the same for the most part is the same except for the refined com to make you think they are good...ie. love-bombing

    Yep. But. There's a Safety Catch Safety Factor built in... haha but no LOL If you're here on Shaneen's Channel if I gambled I'd bet the Farm and the Red Barn when you 1st heard about the "Unpardonable" you dropped your head and began scouring every corner of your mind to see IF. Later you asked..."Am I the Narcissist." hahaha

    He treats me terrible in a very calm way and then when I react I’m the narcissist because I’m yelling. But his calm tone gives him All the right to miss treat me and call me lazy call me a moocher well all I do is work and work and work for him. And the job never gets done because he is destroying the house that I try to keep clean

      Hi Mark, can you clarify your question?

  • @amenaballout1613
    @amenaballout1613 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a question about what to do when you notice traits in oneself that you don’t like. Often times, I believe what keeps a person from improving or changing is that he or she doesn’t see a door for another way of being. You can see where you are,your responses, feelings and reactions to an experience but don’t know what to do about it. Besides asking God for help, I mean.

    Yes perfect question. I struggle 😩 alot my doubting myself when I've loved the one who seems he can lay hands on me and accuse me of things I'm doing. Seriously ? I'm accused of sexual relationships with half dozen men. I've been solibate like over 10 yes. Until I met the I thought the love of my life? I can't be the narc

    Bottom line if you can genuinely be self critical and reflect on your own behaviour you're not a narcissist. They would never dream of doing such a thing.

    My narcissist has been going to therapy and I'm sure they have lied to the therapist as they seem to be encouraging her behaviour and treatment and assisting the blameshifting. I know she tells a lot of lies to anyone who will listen, so I'm sure that she goes to therapy as her way of proving her innocence
