I do like that detail. In the book it's mentioned that Rorschach sounded different before his psychotic break, and when he speaks in this scene in the book, he doesn't have his jagged speech bubbles that he usually has.
the inspiration for them is on a very basic level though. roscharch had a brown coat, white tie and no social skills. always grumpy, like levi. erwin was a blond idealist that sacrificed lives for a greater goal that might just save humanity. they're also both geniuses. and unlike the former duo, these guys are actually friends.
While the cg is a little weird, this already demonstrates a better understanding and respect for both audiences and the graphic novel by HAVING ITS OWN DAMN STORYBOARDS

Mostly because I also know them in other voice roles in other media too :)

Sucks that they couldn’t get Jackie Earle Haley back as Rorschach. The actor in this one is not all bad, but could’ve done a better job at not making the voice too growly than Haley’s voice was in the live action movie.
So glad that we're finally getting a faithful portrayal of Rorschach. His uncanny monotone speech pattern, and his overall demeanor. That's one of my biggest problems with the movie. He isn't clever, badass, or even a good detective. He's not Batman, he's just batshit insane.

I figure that the reason actors portraying Rorschach talk to fast is because Watchmen is very thick with detail and words and if Rorschach talked at the same speed Alan Moore did him, you'd add like 30 minutes to the runtime lol. He talks fast, but in live action he kind of ... has to? A little? And yeah, I don't mind the look of this movie (it looks a little simple, but it gives it a clean look, and Watchmen the comic had a very clean and precise look to its word), but you can tell they went cheap on the animation, and it gives everything a very "budget" look to it. I'm also not a fan of how seemingly little things were altered/removed/reworked, which causes certain parts of the story to not hit like they do in the book. But overall, it's a pretty good adaptation, all things considered. The performances are all pretty good.

I think it works for ppl who dont have the time nor attention span for a thick graphic novel. I was actually impressed with how much ground they were able to cover in such a short runtime. It moves quite quickly, but it works as a movie. They were able to do a lot when they were just focused on telling story straightforward without focus on hyper stylization and over usage of slow-mow, while also being a much better representation of the comic than the live action movie, which just works as a movie on its own imo
It's better than Zack Snyders' version as it has more of the important scenes and characters like, say, the black freighter comic (I know it was in the extended edition), it has more colour as I completely forgot the opening of the original comic was set in the daytime because he had it set a night
They forced him to sound like that. Rorschach is supposed to sound monotone and emotionless but they thought a more "emotional" Rorschach would be more relatable completely missing the point of his character
The voice acting could be better and the lip syncing seems a little off, but I like the style. Fact is I enjoyed the live action adaptations better though, much as some people bitch about them.
Wow! The animation here is fantastic! Outside of this and 'What if..." on Disney + the rest of DC & Marvel's animated shows and movies look cheap and childish. They're either crappy Japanimation style or the even worse, lame Hanna-Barbera style. They need to get their acts together like this.

Fun fact for any Attack on Titan fans: Isayama got the inspiration for Erwin Smith and Levi Acker from Ozymandias and Rorschach.
