      Crete grows their own bananas, too and they are very different you can see them in the video. I usually recommend to buy bananas, honey, olive oil and try to find some local grown stuff there. I am sure you guys know, Crete has a huge farming production of some of the most nutritious and delicious fruits and vegetables.

      @zaxlee01 Thank you for that info. We didn’t know that Crete grew their own bananas. Is there like a banana farm?

    A tip : Go to local market after 13:00 LT at that time the prices will be cheaper. because the time of the market ending is close and all those people want to leave without have any product left !!!!

      @@Sunpire Im living in Peloponnese region, Prices are similar like in Crete. Groceries from local markets used to be cheaper but last 2-3 years is getting expensive. Love your channel, keep on the good work.

      Thank you 😊 🙏 💓. I guess they used to be cheaper here in Crete, too, around 2 years ago, but now it is getting really expensive everywhere..

    Farmers markets are always cheaper than supermarkets

      Thank you for watching. Yes, it is, and is a noticeable difference, for example, cucumbers where 3.5 euro per kilo in supermarket, and at market was 0.8...

    Sometimes you can find good quality Greek clothes (dresses, shorts, shirts, belts, socks, pijamas, flip-flops etc.) in very good prices. The brands you see are most likely not original (as you said they come from Turkey)

    • @Sunpire
      @Sunpire  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, you can definitely find ,if you know what to look for, there is value there! Also, as I said in the video, you can find something specific that is hard to find in other shops. 🙏😊

    Well done guys you listen us for the farmers local market. Imagine now to shop the veggies once a week from there, to supermarket for the cleaning - products / shampoo etc and your little treats and your living cost will be lower. I don't if it is possible at Chania to buy fishes straight from the fishermen boats. Here in my hometown nearly every morning the fishermen come with their boats and sell their catches from the night. The prices are great.

    • @Sunpire
      @Sunpire  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you 😊 🙏. We will definitely go once a week to reduce the living costs. And , we have to check for the fishermen as well. Don't know where to find those.

      @@Sunpire thank you for acknowledge my comment from my heart. yes I do miss living in Chania I was 9 years old when my parents moved here in Canada. Now 60 years later every time I visit there’s so much nostalgia as I walk the streets that I walked with my parents feels like yesterday.. I will be there in October hope we can meet and give you a tour.. by the way I also went to the Chania hospital 8 years ago at my 60th birthday went walking the Samaria gorge and I was not prepared myself so I got sunstroke so I had traveller’s insurance the doctors took care of me all it took a good 6 hours I do have respect for doctors.. this time I will try to find teaching or tutoring job at a school let’s see so I can stay for the winter… I worked here as mechanical engineering / designer 44 years and simultaneously in sports/ news and wedding photographer 33 years.. when I’m in Chania I stay in Agii Apostoli my friends hotel .. Lovely video! Thank you so much! I'm likely going to Chania in October and will visit as many of these markets as I can. Curious: did you notice how common it is to find organic produce? Tp pick ripe melons, simply press your thumb gently at the apex of the melon where there is a slight indent. If it has some "give" you've got a winner.

    • @Sunpire
      @Sunpire  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you very much 😊 🙏. We noticed, and the taste of everything is very flavoured and different... Thank you for tge tip, this melon was very tasty, but when we went last time, we bought 3 that were not that good... Can we know where are you watching from? ❤️💙

    Honey melon tip, smell it should smell like a honey melon and sweet, if you pat it slightly with your hand it should sound hollow -ish not high pitched 😅😅.

      @nemesis1487 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Sunpire glad your honey melon was good 👍🏻. You can also put a bit pressure on the bottom of the melon, if it is hard it isn't ripe but if it is too soft it isn't good either, should be something in between. Don't know about the tale to be honest.
      Yes , the prices there are similar to ours here in mainland Greece.
