Karlie, Ive had a Viking embroidery machine for years, and have used it, but I just bought a PE800 machine. You have presented a very professional, thorough, and extremely well taught video using the larger hoop! WOW!! Ive learned SO much from you in just two videos! You’re an excellent, patient, and well planned teacher! Thank you SO much for your great lessons!
my pe800 tells me my design is too big for the extra large embroidery hoop but in my hatch embroidery software it is way smaller than the hoop. Can you shed some light on this? im at a loss
I just received my PE-900 machine a few weeks ago and have been looking for tutorials for using the 5x12 hoop. Yours is the first that I found that thoroughly explains the process. I had a SE-400 and using the repositional hoop always left a gap in the stitching where there was a hoop change. I am ecstatic to learn there will be no gaps. Thank you so much😄
Thank you so much, this is the first video I’ve found that really explains how to use the multi position hoop AND using Embrilliance. Thanks again! Huge help!
@@KarlieBelle I noticed in the software you had the design left to right, but the blanket is turned on its side. Then on the machine, the design is also turned on its side. Do you have to rotate the design somehow to get it to embroider in the right direction/orientation?

Hi thank you so much for sharing I’ve been looking for someone very detailed on how to do it 😊 What if we buy images because we don’t have embrilliance. And we purchase a 5x12 design already made
No one answers this question for me. maybe you can help. Im trying the express version of Embrilliance and I cant get it to work . The (set) next to the letters I have chosen does not appear..how do I get it to show up. do I need to reinstall? If so how do I delete the installed version of Embrilliance express? this is making me crazy :/. I cant figure it out.
Thank you! I'm currently looking for a beginner machine. I love anything monogram and personalized! I wasn't interested in the brother PE770 or PE800 because they are listed as "5x7 maximum hoop". NOW I'm thinking this is the perfect machine for me!
Yes it really is the best machine to start with! However, they are so hard to find right now! If you find one under $800 snatch it! If you come across a NW1600E or Baby Lock Flourish II, those are the next step up from the PE800 and are awesome machines!
@@KarlieBelle OH! I'm trying SO HARD! It's not been easy! I've been researching for days now! Thanks for the recommendation on the other machines! I'll take a look!!
Hi Karlie. I am hoping you can help me. I have the Brother se625. I used your directions in this video to use my multi hoop. I used the name Turner. The hoop split my design after the first r in Turner. When I was prompted to move the hoop for the last 3 letters in his name, I saw that the y were going to print out smaller than the first 3 letters. I don’t understand why the size would change. The only difference I see that I did from you was that when I saved my design in a Embrilliance I saved it as both a PES and Working file. When I saved the file on my USB, I saved 3 files; TUR, NER in PES format and the third was the working file for Turner I .be. Can you give me sone advice!
I don't know if I missed it in the video, but did you have to click on anything like "Split design" or did the program automatically do it simply because you used the re-positionable hoop?
Karlie Belle why Does the program automatically know to avoid splitting letters in half? Is it possible to preview the two halves/files in Embrilliance before uploading them to the machine?
So one of the issues I'm running into using the multi-positional hoop is some designs don't split very neatly once I poured it into the machine. What I mean is the final embroidered product stitches out very strangely where the embroidery is split. It's very frustrating. It doesn't do it with every design but with certain designs. All I did was try to create a rectangular border and there's a weird gap between the split
i've been searching for days for a good, clear instructional video on larger hoops and i almost gave up and then found yours! you give amazing instructions and are sooo helpful! i just purchased embrilliance enthusiast through the link you gave - love it!!
Excellent tutorial! Thank you. I have a PE400 and recently loaded Embrilliance Essentials on my Mac so I'm new to the design/applique aspect. You answered so many issues I was having. Even though the machines are different, the concept is the same. One difference is the change from the two sections to three sections when utilizing the mulit-position hoop. I will be trying out what you demonstrated; hopefully it will work now!
Five Stars and more! I also have been looking for a way to use my 5 x 12 hoop and I also have Embrilliance. Your video was so helpful in both the hoop/machine functions, and also in Embrilliance instructions. Thank you so much. I subscribed immediately to your channel and look forward to more from you.
Hey Karlie! I am having an issue with my jumbo hoop. When I start the 2nd hooping, it does not line up correctly. Have you ever had this issue and if so, PLEASE HELP 😫
No I haven't had this problem. Make sure you have your machine pulled away from the wall and that your hoop is not bumping into anything causing it to move its alignment.
When you use the stitch simulator on Embrilliance, does it look to stitch out right there? Make sure you open each of the split designs and see how they look on the computer first.
Hi so I realize this post is from 2 years ago but I was hoping you might could help with a problem. I have a PE770 embroidery machine. I’m trying to use a 5x12 hoop and my machine won’t recognize my pattern when I plug my jump drive in. I have made sure that the right size is picked on embrilliance. Any suggestions would help. I’ve watch many of your videos but can’t seem to fix the problem. Lol. Thanks for all your knowledge 😊
Hi! I have seen some people have trouble with this. First try opening your 2 stitch files in Embrilliance. For some reason the 1st basting stitch can sometimes be the length of the large hoop and not within the 5x7 frame. If it looks like this, delete that step and resave the stitch file. Also updating your Embrilliance software may help fix this. Let me know if that works for you!
Hi, I have a question...I do have this hoop for the brother pe800 and I would like to know if I could use this hoop not using the embriliance software? I have a different software. Is there a technique that needs to be down to use this hoop? I would like to use it for end to end quilting if possible. Thanks
I think you would just have to play with the placement of the design. The hoop is designed to have some overlap so that where having software helps because it calculates that for you. If you have Sew What Pro software, it also have the capability to split the design.
This tutorial was done with just essentials. You do not need enthusiast to create a split hoop design for the 5 x 12 hoop or the 4 x 6 multi positionable hoop
I don't have the paid for software just the free. So I can't select a reposition hoop. However if I size and do the design according to basically what's on your screen do I need to save each half separately? Or save it as a whole design still? Does the hoop selected on the screen make a big difference if I size everything right?
Unfortunately your machine won't open any design that is bigger than 5x7 in size. You will need to software in order to split the design into 2 design that are 5x7 in size each
Hello I"m a newbie Can this be done with purchased images from creative fabrica as well? I mean can we use the repositional hoop for larger images purchases I have a brother se725
Yes as long as they are embroidery format files, you can open them in Essentials and arrange them in this hoop and the program will split them into 2 files when you save it.
If you are using the free demo version or the Express version, then yes, you will need to buy the full Embrilliance Essentials program. www.embrilliance.com/jamaffiliates/aff_tools/karliebelle/tool/text_links/2
SEW PRETTY! Thanks for getting up close with the software cause i was lost with it as a beginner. very helpful. not ready for this giant hoop but loved the project
The program is supposed to split the design so that you can not tell where it is split. The scrolls are just one long piece that I added. I don't try putting two next to each other, I let the program split the big one.
@@KarlieBelle that’s what I thought but for whatever reason it doesn’t do it on mine there’s always a gap or space I can tell where the design splits 🤷♀️

I have se625 and embrilliance software I make my design it saves to my computer as pdf then it won't open , if I save to my USB the file is too large for my machine... Help super new at this
Do you have the full version of Embrilliance Essentials? If so you click File, then Save Stitch File As. Then name your file and choose PES as the format.
I'm a soin to be newbie. Your blanket is absolutely beautiful. I don't understand the reason for the water soluble topper. Can you explain why that's needed?
Yes, the topper helps the threads keep from sinking down into the material. Some people only find this is necessary for plush blankets and towels, but I use it for all of my projects. I find it helps make the finished product look nicer.
I have a question! I read your article about the different levels you can purchase. I am interested in repositional hooping, but I'm also planning to make baby blankets and may at some point need the knock down stitch. When you purchase the program do you have to start with the lowest one? Also, if you do start with the lowest one when you upgrade to you pay the full amount? Would it be better to start with the next one up? Sorry can't remember the names of them.
So in order to do split designs with the 5x12 hoop and have other simple but important editing functions you will need Essentials. Then if later you want the knockdown stitch feature you can add on Enthusiast. They are each separate but think of Enthusiast as an add on and you still need Essentials. You won’t save any money buying them together so you can just wait until you need the knowledge feature. www.embrilliance.com/jamaffiliates/karliebelle
Thank you! Here is my link to Embrilliance Essentials. I have some videos on how to use the software in my Facebook group if you would like to join. www.embrilliance.com/jamaffiliates/aff_tools/karliebelle/tool/text_links/16
Thank you for this video--it gave me the nerve to do a split hoop design. Thank you so much. I am new to machine embroidery and your videos are so informative and helpful!! Can you do a video with Essentials showing continuous embroidery with the 5X12 hoop showing how to make and use the alignment markings? Thank you again--you are my Essentials hero!
You will need to purchase the full version of Essentials in order to get this feature. You can use coupon FULLBLOOM22 to save an extra 10% off through June 10,2022. www.embrilliance.com/jamaffiliates/aff_tools/karliebelle/tool/text_links/2
I always use tear away on blankets and towels because they are usually thick material that doesn’t need much stabilizer. Cut away is best on thinner fabrics such as knit shirts or thin woven cotton.
Do you adjust tension? I have the pe800 and have issues of my upper thread getting stuck to the bottom on my bobbin holder... any recommendations? By the way loved the tutorial I was thinking of going for a bigger machine but now I'm confident of doing bigger designs buying the jumbo hoop
I typically don't mess with my tension. Things you can do to try and solve tension issues are: 1) Use a thread stand 2) Make sure upper thread is threaded correctly and don't forget needle bar at step 6 3) Clean out bobbin case area 4) Make sure bobbin is loaded correctly going counter clockwise, go through thread path and pull about 12 inches of bobbin thread out before cutting it 5) Change needle. Hope some of that helps you!
I did this project using only Embrilliance Essentials. But since I recorded this video I have also purchased Enthusiast and Stitch Artist and I love those programs too.
This is a great video. I have looking for a video to do just this. I do have a quick question. I noticed that you created your own design but can you do this with a pre existing design? (Something that i bought and allowed to add ie letters or manipulate specifically to do on a bigger hoop). If you already have a video can you point me in the right direction? BTW i just started following you this Friday was my second sip and stitch. You teaching style is fantastic and lots of patiences with your children!
Thank you so much! Yes you can definitely use a pre existing design. All you need to do is open it in Embrilliance and select your multi position hoop. Everything I used in this video is designs and fonts I purchased online. I just chose that way I wanted to arrange them :)
Thanks so much for sharing, Karlie. The blanket is gorgeous and I'm sure was well received. I'm a completely new to machine embroidery too and am wondering whether I can stitch the design I bought for the 12 x 5 inch hoop without splitting it first using the software. Will my PE770 know automatically where to split the design? Any help would be very much appreciated. Many thanks and please keep the tutorials coming!
Yes for the 5x12 hoop you will need software in order to split the design up. You machine will not do this automatically. Embrilliance Essentials is the program I use and recommend. Just follow the instructions in this video on how to choose the 5x12 hoop, make your design, then save it to a flash drive. The software will automatically split it into 2 designs for you. www.embrilliance.com/jamaffiliates/aff_tools/karliebelle/tool/text_links/16
Yes Essentials comes with the 5x12 and 4x7 multi position hoops already loaded. Enthusiast will come with more options along with the ability to make a custom split hoop :)
Thank you for sharing this video. Where do you get your BX fonts for Embrilliance? I'm trying to find a package set of BX fonts rather than purchasing them one by one. Would be great if there's just collection of different type of BX fonts to purchase. I would appreciate a reply. Thank you.
I typically just buy them one by one, usually when they are on sale. Designs by JuJu runs sales where you can get 10 for $10 sometimes. They do have bundles of 1/4 inch fonts if you need to do small lettering. Also I believe Applique Corner has font bundles that you can check out

I have se625 and embrilliance software I make my design it saves to my computer as pdf then it won't open , if I save to my USB the file is too large for my machine...
Help super new at this
Do you have the full version of Embrilliance Essentials? If so you click File, then Save Stitch File As. Then name your file and choose PES as the format.
hello I don't have the option for multi position. does that only come for the paid version of embrilliance because I'm using the free one.
Yes you must have Essentials to get that featurewww.embrilliance.com/jamaffiliates/aff_tools/karliebelle/tool/text_links/2
@@KarlieBelle thank you. I purchased an mt1501 ricoma machine 15needle. Came with a free software lol.
I needed this video. Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
This was amazing, thank you. What is the purpose of the Water Soluble Topper?
Thank you! I use it to keep any threads from sinking down into the fabric and it gives the finished design a much cleaner look.
Great Video. Where do you get the Embrillance Essentials software?
Do I need to purchase the program or can I do this on the free version please
You will need to purchase the full version of Essentials in order to get this feature. You can use coupon FULLBLOOM22 to save an extra 10% off through June 10,2022. www.embrilliance.com/jamaffiliates/aff_tools/karliebelle/tool/text_links/2
Great job!
This is extremely helpful thank you 🙏
Glad it helped!
That is gorgeous, I'm learning so very much watching your tutorials! Thanks
Thanks so much 😊
Very pretty
Why did you use tearaway instead of using cutaway? It's going to be washed.
How are you able to stretch and shrink? Your letters came unconnected...
Embrilliance Essentials allows me to resize the design and fonts. Its best to resize first, then move your script font so that it looks connected
Karlie , do you know what happened to the appliquécorner.com shop? Tried to log on from multiple computers but it doesn’t seem to exist anymore.
Beautiful design, where can I get the scroll and flowers? thanks
The scroll and flowers are both add ons to this font www.embroidery-boutique.com/products/ballerina-vintage-alphabet
Which Embrilliance package did you buy? I have the brother se1900.
Blanket came out georgeous.
I did this project using only Embrilliance Essentials. But since I recorded this video I have also purchased Enthusiast and Stitch Artist and I love those programs too.
Thank you
Great tutorial! I learned a lot. Thank you! The quilt is beautiful!💕💕💕
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this video. Very well done.
You're very welcome! Thank you for watching!
So helpful! Thank you so much, this is exactly what I was looking for!
Thanks so much!
Thank you for these great instructions!!!
Glad you like them!
Beautiful
@@KarlieBelle Thanks, Karlie. That's really helpful. x
I just got my machine few days ago, i was wondering if the software is one time purchase or it is monthly or yearly fee? Thank you.
One time purchase!
I thought going to need essentials and enthusiast!! So Can I make repositional hoops only with essentials? I have Brother se 625
Yes Essentials comes with the 5x12 and 4x7 multi position hoops already loaded. Enthusiast will come with more options along with the ability to make a custom split hoop :)
@@KarlieBelle thanks! :)
Also I believe Applique Corner has font bundles that you can check out
@@KarlieBelle Thank you for this. Keep posting more videos! Love watching them. God bless you.🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for this!!
You're so welcome!
Thank you for doing this video, as I have that hoop. As usual another GREAT video ********
You are so welcome! I'm glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for your tutorial. I have a PE770 and I love my machine, I do have a software but I don’t understand how to combine my files from my computer to the usb. HELP
Hi Debra! Come and join my Facebook Group. In the Units section of the group I have a few shirt videos on how to open a design, merge it with another, and how to save to your USB drive. facebook.com/groups/206454390724948/
Karlie do you have a discord channel? I started using my PE800, but it' been hard getting the positioning correct. Is there a way to do an invisible 'test' stich to see what area it covers?
No sorry I don't have discord. You can use the trace feature on your machine to see right where it will stitch.
