  • This video is the question of the day. Is my turquoise cuff real?
What are ways to find out what my jewelry is worth? How do I know if it is handmade Native American jewelry?

This hallmark at 4:37 is for a Château d'Argent silver jewelry by David Sigal.

I'm a Navajo artist and I love your advice on consulting your local jeweler. I really feel that the more customers know, the more power they have as a buyer. ☺️

Owning jewellery is really about love of it,not everything is an investment. If you love the piece it should not matter. Unless a piece is really high end designer piece with platinum or 18 carat gold and top gem material of substantial size,it is not an investment .There are quality pieces to be found at estate sales that often are misidentified and find their way back to appraisers.. I had a friend who"s brother in law bought an estate piece thinking it was costume and gave it to his niece,My friend held it back and showed it to me,I am not a professional but I did loop it and it was platinium and oreo verde diamonds, she had it confirmed by a jeweler, a week later . I do not know what it was worth but the daughter is learning disabled, was never allowed to have. It is still in their safe !

Absolutely, Melody. That has always been my mantra. So many of my colleagues in the shopping channel business would talk to the viewers about an "investment" in a piece of jewelry. I always said it is something to be worn and enjoyed. If somebody wants to "invest" in jewelry, they should buy a d color flawless diamond (or equivalent colored gem) and put in a safety deposit box and never wear it.
