When I was about 12 my step mom took me to every gig within 300 miles of our house. Always in front row seats. Charley took my hand and kissed it and then kissed my cheek. I wouldn’t wash that cheek or hand for weeks. I am now 65 and remember it like it was yesterday.

I grow up listening to the songs of this great singer. In the early 70s, my family doesnt have a radio but we have a neighbor who has a tape recorder and he always play the songs of Mr. Charlie. The reason why I learn to love his songs. He's one of the great singers I listen to. I also learn from his fellow artist that he's a good man love and respected by his collegues in the music industry may it be young and his contemporaries. God bless you Mr Charlie..you are now home..

I remember having a discussion with an African American Co worker back in 1972 concerning Charlie Pride.She didn't think he should be singing country music. I remember telling her that's what freedom was, he could sing what he wanted to. I was young then. We had several 8 track recordings of his. I'm sure glad he has sang country music over the yeats.
