    I bought this amp for 169 around Thanksgiving after my kicker cxa800.1 let go of life. That kicker was a tank. This JP8 sounds better than that kicker. It does take some juice to run. I currently have it in an f150 with 130 amp alternator, big 3, and 112 ah of agm. It still drops my voltage from 14.3 to 13 even on a heavy bass note. I am in a group on Facebook with the guy who repairs the D4S amps. He says that they are safe down to 12.5 volts. They designed them to be lower voltage friendly. With enough electrical behind them they can do around 1500 watts. Best 169 bucks I have ever spent.

      I replaced a audiocontrol 1500.1 sub amp with the JP8 in sierra Denali with a 2-12” Jl audio stealth box. It pounds but no where near the level of the audio control. For 200 bucks it can’t be beat

    Great review! I totally dig this amp, mainly because of the stuff you mentioned....looks, features and value. And it doesn't require an upgraded electrical system unless you are running it below 1 ohm (it's stable down to 0.5 ohms).

      I live in SC and I have got the thing up to 150 degrees on the bass knob and still hasn’t shut off on me. It sits in the trunk and this is me going full tilt right before clipping for 30 minutes straight. Not to mention this is when it was 95 degrees outside. This amp is an absolute monster for sure.

    I bought this, and matching 4channel, as I LOVE the blue, and throw back look. My ONLY complaint is the inputs are on opposite ends, vs. all on same end. As far as the bass remote, I took mine apart, found an old piece of film negative( Kodak), and placed it over the remote window, put it back together& Voila!, You see it clearly, and tones it down a lot!!! Keep the videos coming.( I don't run these currently, just will keep in collection, blue looks great in person 👍🏼🙌🏼🥳

I've been messing with car audio for 22 years, every car has had upgraded stereos from mild to wild. Now that I'm a little older I'm more into SQ, so the single 10" 500 RMS DD Audio Redline in the rear hatch is more than adequate.

      @@Vegas_Baba808 I was thinking of doing the same. For $379 having a nice looking matching pair of amps that do above rated, have the best bass knob/remote display on the market is great. They will likely sit on a shelf for a while as I don't have anything to put them in atm but for the price it doesn't bother me if they sit for a while. Or maybe I'll get bored one weekend and swap them in and see how they compare (one car has Excelon XR-4S/XR-1S combo and the other has a couple MTX Thunder Elite amps in it)

    Just to be clear, DD1 light is Distortion, and the JP8 light is Clip. They are not the same thing. Technically, distortion should come in before clipping, so I wouldn't call the JP8 light accurate, but it IS conservative on the good side of things.

    • @mattpierce4143
      @mattpierce4143 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Optical input is very rare like he said. Typically not necessary to have on an amp, as source units with optical are designed to be sent to a DSP, and then analog out to your amps. What makes you feel like your RCA's are going to be so noisy that you need optical? Unless you're competing, there will be no need. But if it's a must have, then check into Helix DSP's. Cheap and optical do not belong in the same sentence, so I highly recommend you reevaluate your install and needs. Remember, optical only rejects noise from your source unit, to the DSP...so proper installation of your RCA's, grounds, and drains will reject just as much noise. They will not remove amplifier floor noise as well, which is the issue that most people have on a budget

      I typically would say no, but I've never actually tested it to verify.

      I don't know a lot about alternators, so I don't feel comfortable making recommendations.

    So the bass knob CLIP(10% THD) light is turning on before the DD1 DISTORTION(1% THD) light. Hmm

      @DIYAudioGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes.

    • @CL-yp1bs
      @CL-yp1bs 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it is obviously turning on right when it detects a tiny bit of clipping. the DD-1 turns on at 1% THD so i would suspect this amp is turning the clip light at less than that. or basically whenever the current and voltage are calculated to be at higher than the amplifiers rail voltage... it means its not 10% THD.. it is way more sensitive than that

    • @DIYAudioGuy
      @DIYAudioGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CL-yp1bs whatever it's doing it's just as reliable as the DD1. That's really all that matters.

      I read somewhere, but can't quote it for sure, that the clip light on the amp is at like .7% thd.

    Next I want to see what this amp is doing after impedance rise on the subs!!!

    • @DIYAudioGuy
      @DIYAudioGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't have a sub or subs that can handle this thing at full tilt, so I didn't film that.
