I've bought 3 wii u total from ebay used, 1 of them let me play for a while but when I turned it on again it gave that code, the 2nd didn't work at all and the 3rd is the sexy boi I named Gerald
Haven't even touched it in five years and it is dead
Don't worry y'all, professional Wii U modders have already stated this error is not caused by not using the console, the only thing happening now is that everyone's turning on their Wii U and many people are realizing now, many years later, that they had done something that killed the console while it was off.

it’s an issue with the eMMC chip being left unpowered for long periods of time. You can leave it off for years and be fine, so long you left it hooked up

It's possible that the NAND is not powered, or the capacitor have gone bad. Toshiba's NAND that was inside the Wii U could be replaced with the one that has the Wii U dump. It's possible to restore.
Pretty sure you'd need to modchip your wii u to restore a dumped nand though.
@@arabajlony They're NAND readers that will copy the dumped Wii U files onto the actual NAND and replacing a chip requires the soldering station. So that's where the catch 22 lies. It's difficult to find dumps. And if you find one, you'll probably just get a new Wii U from the known sources.
Hynix are crap anyway, their RAM modules are hot Garbage
Also don’t leave your Wii U game pad charging for too long. My game pad has like a 5 min battery
Mine has been dropped about a hundred times so the connection range is like... A foot and a half 😅 any further than that and it refuses to connect to the console
But if you leave the battery drain, the Wii Gamepad won’t charge anymore.

My gamepad just doesn’t charge now
I have a 3rd party dock, it charges the gamepad and 2 wiimotes at once. It stays on the dock unless it's being played however you can get a long boi battery and the life goes up to, no exaggeration, 13 hours.

The Wii U game emulation is so nice, I'd recommend zero mission too if you don't already have it. Fusion is such a brilliant game

I hadn’t played on my WiiU in like several months and it still happened to me (this was December)
I haven’t played mine since I got my switch, about 2 and a half years ago and recently I turned it on, but it still works thankfully
If I HAD a wii u I would probably use it more than my switch.......... I play it at my friends house and it's a great system
the wii u is awesome, I haven't played my switch in at least a month
Make a warning about the eshop one more time, because this month it's about to shutdown

I've seen this issue everywhere now from Google articles and TH-cam recommendations. I can see this is a big deal but luckily I still play my Wii U in 2023

I read that if you perform a NAND backup, you may be able to restore it.
With a hardmod, might as well go buy another console, not gonna perform micro soldering...
Good thing I modded it! I recommend it too. Just be careful and take lots of precautions
Modding won't help as it Is part of the storage being NAND and it slowly degrades with less power.

I roughly use mine at least once a month since I like to go back and play a couple of games on it. Although someday, I should probably invest into having it modded.

Yeah I got that same error with system memory after not using it for several years. Greatly hindered system usability, so I tried to update it, and it completely froze. Powered the system off, now it is a brick. 😔

This is starting to happen slowly to my Wii U where all of the games will not work only the old Wii games from the first Wii all the work and the Wii U gamepad is starting to die within 10 minutes or less. my favorite game on the Wii U was Nintendo land and it’s really sad to see that game not being able to be used on the Wii U anymore
I'm buying a Wii U soon I can't wait to play the first Splatoon and get some N64 and DS games before the eShop shuts down
Sadly splatoon servers are not working right now due to security breaches

Just homebrew your Wii U there’s literally no point in buying those games when you can get them for free homebrew Ong can literally take 5 minutes tops it’s so easy
this is pretty much a hoax, it would take an insanely long amount of time for anything similar to happen. the real issue is a faulty batch of chips in some consoles and the only way to reduce the risk of having to replace it is…ironically: not turning your console on

@@shortsyt6071 yeah but the Wii u bricks easily and most people are unaware of it currently. The Wii u also sold horribly. The virtual boy doesn’t have anything to do on it and won’t be in high demand
It’s because flash memory (what the wii u uses) doesn’t hold its data well after a couple years

It's a problem with the Nand chip from one of the manufactures that degrades way quicker than the other two.
@@AlexanderScott66 That's been my understanding as well. I heard the chips in question only came on certain 2012 models.
Well, when I was 4 years old, I chewed up the charger and therefore I couldn't play on the wii u pad anymore and now I had to let the Wii you pad die, so I had a dead Wii you pad for 8 years, and now I finally got it working
This hasn’t exactly happened to me, but the sync between my WiiU and My WiiU GamePad stopped connecting. Lucky I still had the chance to sync it back.
It's the bluetooth chip in the gamepad going dead.
It was nothing! The sync probably disconnected due to a failed connection of the WiiU since it’s been a long time, packed away with nothing to charge or plug into.
@@LegendMel. That's good to hear, some people have reported issues with blue tooth chips but I've never experienced this.
I'm planning to buy a second-handed Wii U at the End of March
I think mine did that once, Nintendo fixed it for free. This was a couple years ago though, so they might not anymore
Worst thing is the battery, if it’s swollen get rid of it, it can explode

In the original wii u box there should have been a leaflet that said the gamepad should be charged once every six months at least.

I'm sad to say....... My Wii U from 2013 with loads of Virtual Console games and lots of save data on it finally fell victim to this.. well something similar to this.... what it does is, it boots into the main menu just ok, However, when loading into games or even apps, it keeps loading forever

I feel like it’s too late for me, the eshop shut down, and there’s no way for me to protect it other than using it
I need to find my Wii U. I have it in storage somewhere, at least I think. Not 100% sure because I searched almost every nook and cranny of my house. I can't seem to find it, though. I still have my gamepad. I thought it was broken because one day, when I was younger, I found out that it wouldn't turn on, and I was sad. Since I lost my console and I didn't get my gamepad to work, I never really had much time with it. But the time I did have, especially my gamepad, I'm so grateful for. On Christmas 2015, I got a Wii U with Mario Kart 8 pre-installed and Super Mario Maker. The next Christmas Eve, since my gamepad broke, I got a white and scarlet red 2DS with New Super Mario Bros. 2 pre-installed, and on Christmas day, I got the 3DS port of Mario Maker. That's the one I played more since I lost my Wii U gamepad. I'm gonna try to search my house top to bottom for my console before I have to buy a new one on Amazon or something. I got that console on 12/25/2015, it should still work since I didn't get it on launch day.

I literally got my Wii U last month (only cuz I had a Wii since like 2010 but that stopped reading disks so I got the Wii U so I could play my Wii games again)
It's actually the same with the 3DS. Had mine laying around unused for about 4 years. Than everytime i started it it turned off after about a minute, but only if the wireless connections were turned on. I turned them off and the 3DS worked just fine, so i thought its either the BT or WLAN module. I ordered both but only needed to change one (im not entirely sure which of them because its already 2 or 3 years ago). After that the system worked just fine (until i modded it and accidently opened the eShop, now my SD card is corrupted af. I put the sd card in a spare phone i had and now its has some weird glitches)

For anyone seeing this video now, this issue got blown way out of proportion. It only affects the black "deluxe" wii U's from the first year or so after the launch and only the ones with the hynix nand chip, not the Samsung or Toshiba chips. In all, you have a super low chance of ever encountering this issue
