I could spend all night in a smoky pub with this guy, what a top fella and awesome story teller! Very inspiring talk and studio session on the other video too! I’ve been really into these lot for a while and the character of their music has always had me wondering how they do it, less is more and having fun is the biggest takeaways!
British music producers are the best, they NEVER take themselves too seriously. Whereas, everyone else will sit there on camera and tell you how deep and meaningful every bad analog kick drum and hit hat is that they have ever made.
Seen PL multiple times live now and let me tell you if you catch them in a intimate club like the old mint club Leeds etc, their bass lines absolutely take you're head off in front of a function one speaker
How funny : I was listening to the new tune in the car this morning on a acid 2024 play list! had no idea - then this interview popped up on my feed.. brilliant and freaky!
Saw them perform last night in SF - was fan-fucking-tastic. It was _such_ a treat - wild, sweaty, intense acid house. Such a vibe, was totally mesmerising.. one of my all time favorite live electronic acts.
Hey bud, I'm wondering about the 808 mod, I think it's just swapping out the timing capacitor in the drum env circuit for one with a longer timing. iirc snare is a mod that some people do to the korg volcas as well for a shplattier sound, think that might be an Resistor and Cap, maybe to do a highpass. Or adapting the filter circuit in the snare, again either with resistor/cap to move the filter freq. Last one/snare's just a guess though.
This is exactly what came to my mind aswell, remembering how the Korg Volca beats snare mod was done I can only imagine that's super similar to what was done to their 808 snare

Great interview, too bad the sound is distorted sometimes. Paranoid London rules!
Probably recorded through a Monotron :-D

I really enjoyed this interview,
up until he pronounced behringer the wrong way

Umm, at last a non-germanic bloke who actually pronuonced Behringer correctly. It's NOT BehrinJer!
