- I tried a Surfski kayak and as a beginner, it was tough!
We went to Sai Kung to explore new areas and my mate brought his out his THINK Surfski kayak and I had the chance to test it out at the end of our session. It was much more difficult than I expected and as a beginner, it took quite a while to adjust. I can't imagine it on rough waters.. but i know skills surfski'ers do it all the time.
We also looked for the fish market on the water at Sai Kung!

Surfski is like is hard at the start, but the more you do it the better it becomes. You can enjoy it much more that any other kayak
My mates are all own surski’s now.. I’m the only one yet to convert but I’m sure it is a matter of time!
Off course a wing paddle makes a amazing difference compared with the Greenland paddle. Alltwen best
My friends have all moved on to surfki's using the wing paddle.. I am the last one yet to convert! But I am sure I eventually will..
Stanley may have you on speed, but you have him on maneuverability. I see derelict boats aren't just a Florida problem, sad to see them sunken.
That’s why I intentionally went inside the marina 😂 I feel sad seeing sunken boats.. but then again, they can become great nurseries for fish

Funny enough, I didn't realise it also until I started kayaking! There's still so many places I have yet to explore.

Nice little trip. That Surfski seems awkward...Built for speed, but it wouldn't work here in the Florida swamps and rivers. Still, looks like fun on the open water.
That’s why I took Stanley through the marina.. to give him a challenge 😂 the surfski is definitely for open waters

Hilarious video. Stanley was cooking with gas on that surf ski. Lol. I once tried a Stellar surf ski that was 18 foot long and 20 inches wide. It was way more unstable than my sea kayak at 22.5 inches wide. I was scared too 😂
I think Stanley’s surfski is 18 foot too! So you know how it feels.. I’m not sure if I will go down the surfski path though. Who knows, I might change my mind later down the track 😂
Great comparison for speed......I've always wondered just how fast a surfski can go.

@@FishaholicboyThere is a _lot_ of variation between surfski models, ranging from very stable to very fast. Hull width usually gives a first indication of in which category the ski falls.

I bet you would love those islands.. you’d stay there and never leave 😂 Stan was fast but he was nice enough to paddle slowly
@@Fishaholicboy you're quick also but I know the filming part may not show that quite as much (not in a bad way) but yes, Stan is rapid haha ! For all the channels that I watch, yours or Field Days have the best scenery 100% 🙌 I think you edge it because you're in the water though !

Thank you! My friend wants me to get a surfski too so we can paddle together and I am so tempted! haha. It definitely feels different and it was hard to get used to! I think I will feel better the next time I try it!
the difference is probably in the paddle. Unless that surfski is longer or narrower or both.
I was not used to the narrower surski.. was quite the challenge. I tried it again recently and it was definitely better.

Really enjoy your kayaking videos. A few years ago I was an instructor at the outward bound school in Sai Kung. Spent a year leading young people on the sea around Sai Kung so I get great throwbacks from your videos.
There’s some nice natural arches and caves on the south side of Jin island, though it can get rough out there.

Hi and thanks, Fishaholicboy for this kayak tour. OMG! the water is amazing and gorgeous! What's a beautiful surfski!---I have heard about it from the competitive SUP before. How long is it? It requires a skinny person to sit in, doesn't it? Unbelievable, it looks like a sit-on kayak, but stable? as your brother mentioned. Is there any weakness against the side waves? I have experienced with a Tsunami sea kayak and found it a little challenging to make a turn, but quite fast. Oh... I see your precious paddle. How is it? Let me know the pros and cons as you spend more time with it. What toy did you get on your PFD??? A waterproof radio to communicate with your brother? Often it is hard to make conversation with K7S while we are kayaking because of the winds or waves..End up screaming at each other..🤣🤣😱 I also would like to know about your sea kayak since I consider to get one in a couple of years. BTW, I am predicting you will reach "1K " by no time. Way to go...😊😊😊😊😊
The surfski is gorgeous though it was difficult to balance in the beginning. My friend got used to it straight away but it took me a while as I'm much larger 😂😂 The green thing is a waterproof radio we bring with us on longer trips as we separate a fair bit sometimes exploring. Having the radio makes a huge difference and we feel safer with it too.
@@Fishaholicboy I learned about "Surfski" from one of the SUPs. They look fashionable and slim I expected them for a competition. I wish I could handle it, nor K7S will NOT fit in it..😅😅 Thank you for introducing various kayaks/boats/paddles. Look forward to new videos.😊😊

It’s a popular spot for rental.. I think most people who rented a kayak for the first time would be this spot. Did you go and eat seafood afterwards??

surfski so fast but unstable, about $22000 , is expensive
I felt really unstable 😂 my friend got use to it very quickly and was doing very well. He was able to get a second hand surfski so didn’t have to pay as much. Let’s see if he gets a new one later 😂

You are using the wrong paddle. A surfski requires a wing paddle for stability.
I suppose so… but please don’t assume that everyone has the right equipment to begin with. It all takes experience and also investments to afford it all. I tried the surfski with what was available.

Haha definitely not but I’ve seen a video of someone rolling a surf ski… my jaws dropped
How wide is that surf ski?
I believe it's 22inches.. but it felt much narrower than that when on the water 😂
@@Fishaholicboy You will get used to it fast. Mine is 22 inch, I hardly notice it now. Just come back from a 60 km river / lake trip, and my friend tried it, and it was fun though, to see how insecure he got in it. It is a good step up from the recreational versions at 25 inch. It shoots through the water much smoother.
