Man what a good mod. It’s crazy how CarPlay has become a must have in cars now. Install didn’t look bad at all. EasyBimmerCoding did a really nice job on this.

Apparently this can be done via USB stick if you have the file. You dont need a laptop and someone dialling into installing it etc. I just need to find where I can get this file. I beleive anything after 2018 requires the laptop method with the OBD2 reader. Ive got a 2017 m2 thats ive put the antenna into but just need the damn file!
Yes, only if you have 2017+ which has the iDrive 5 versus the iDrive 4 that is shown in the video. Also a lot of 2017’s came with CarPlay installed but were asking a subscription fee, after backlash they went standard on 2018 LCI models.

It’s not necessarily year dependent. It’s really depends on your NBT Evo software version.
I enjoy and appreciate your site. Thorough and REAL. I have a 2017 X1 M-Sport with the Dinan Sport piggyback and some additional upgrades via BimmerCode. I am also wondering if something similar is available for the X1 F48 NBT? I know Bimmer Tech has the MMI Prime but didn't know if you had any other thoughts or suggestions on this matter.

Got my charger (25A), cable, just need to get the download going!!! If no one answers this, I will after the upgrade on my 2016 F30 340i!
I don’t believe CarPlay goes on the HUD. The software they use will be downloaded after they remote in 👍🏼

Hi There. Thanks for the video. I did not really understand the content of this video. I was under the impression of changing from ID4 to ID6, you needed a new head unit. I did not see you mention or see the new head unit. Did I miss something here. I was informed you need to change the head unit, icontroller, incontroller ECE to change to NBT EVO ID6. Please advise. Also, would you recommend the easy bimmer coding for this change still. Thank you
No new head unit needed! Only piece of hardware I had to buy and install was the antenna. Confirm your VIN with easy bimmer coding, they’ll let you know if that’s all you need as well. 👍🏼

No. You gotta flash it through another procedure. This video, just like all others, are just a show off of / advertisement for the service sold online to actually perform it.

Not yet! Still looking into best/most cost effective way to go about it.
Will this update to i6 Flash be affected if you use BimmerCode you change some of the settings? When the changes are made to the head unit or ECM and it reboots will the Flash be lost?
Most of them no. But if it’s something specific like video-in-motion, etc, it’s possible. But now worries, just reflash BimmerCode again 👍🏼
I’m more worried about the update I’m gonna do with EasyBMW Coding. I’m looking to update the i4 EVO to i6Drive Flash. I worry that after that flash is fine and all the changes take place like Apple Car Play that when I later use the Bimmercode and make some of these changes in the Headunit or others it will affect the i6 flash when the car reboots the headunit or ECU. I just paid a lot of money to do the flash and I don’t want to mess it up by using Bimmercode. Will one affect the other?

Ahh, see what you’re saying… I feel like I’ve coded several things since I updated with i6, but can’t recall if it pertained to the head unit... I really doubt it cause it’s like getting bmw software uploaded, and it’s not like BimmerCode can downgrade that software. Hit up Rob Hebb on FB messenger and confirm with him to make sure. He’ll definitely know👍🏼

So far, it’s been solid! There were a couple instances where I thought I needed to reboot the radio/headunit (by pushing in volume knob for 15 seconds) but it turns out it was actually my iPhone getting too warm on hot days when using my wireless charger. I’ve been incredibly happy with this upgrade. So worth it! 👍🏼
@@Just1MoreMod thank you for a quick response. I've been going through various forums with it and seeing if there are any issues. The unit is 2Gb RAM and I read somewhere that the problem can occur when using oem nav. I would like carplay in my car too and I will try it this way. So thank you for your review!
@DedaMrasz No problem. Like I said, in the video, years ago, I was originally told that my OEM unit was not compatible either. But after reaching out to this company, they verified with my VIN that my unit was upgradable. Definitely reach out to them first just to double check that your VIN is good to go as well 👍🏼

No, it would require swapping it out for a different screen.
