I was there also... remember second floor widows broke out and fire hoses thrown down for people to climb up and in... tickets were over sold... Tear gas at the door... a memorable night for sure.. oh.. the bands were hot too!
I was there too! I remember the crazy shit going on...they stuffed as many people as they could inside even on the stairs and in the isles. Me and my friends got inside before the riot outside, the sound of windows being smashed and the smell of teargas drifting inside to mix with the aroma of marijuana...It was one of the loudest concerts I ever went to. The drummer Corky Laing had a quiver full of drum sticks and he tossed them to fans in front of stage, Leslie West was one of the biggest (fatist) guitar player but he rocked! Mississippi Queen, the DJ guy during intro had hair way down to his knees. Fun times!
This is very close to my view. I was sitting in first row - above and behind the stage. Mountain opened up with Mississippi Queen. On the first chord after the cowbell started, a huge pyro flash erupted behind Corky's kit which actually singed my eyebrows. A great show followed!! I never knew that Sammy Hagar was vocalist for Montrose until 5 min ago :)
