on finneas not being nominated for producer he didn’t submit himself! he said in an interview in 2021 that he won it once and has no interest in submitting himself ever again :)
@@EljohnMacaranas And Chappell just got rid of her management team 🥲 I hope this doesn’t ruin her Grammy chances. I think it happened over a month ago though, so she probably has all new people by now
I was so surprised to see Die With A Smile miss out on Record of the Year. Although, I still think that it has a very strong chance of winning Best Pop Duo/Group Performance
I just want to point out that Whitney, Mariah, Celine (and Ariana) all have about 14-17 nominations each throughout their entire careers. Billie has 32. Literally twice as many, in just about 5 years...let that sink in. I'm not saying her nominations/wins are undeserved (maybe some), she's just used as an example here. The Grammys make me sick to my stomach. I also want to point out that I'm very glad that Beyoncé is getting her flowers in the nominations next year, but can't help but feel her getting 11 nominations, significantly more than Renaissance, for CC - a COUNTRY album, is in reaction to the uproar of last year's Grammys. The album was great, however 11 is pushing it and feels more like the Grammys doing damage control rather than actually giving her thoughtful nominations...we know how they are, that's just my thoughts though x
Unfortunately the Academy has its issues demographically and systemically. Not to shade any winners in particular but we have seen them time and time again reject art by marginalized communities for the highest honors. While this year may feel like apologia for Bey, I’d hate for that to be the takeaway of the evening should she prevail.
I've seen those videos of ariana on the studio recording positions and she does magic there, she's one of the best of our generation and somehow the grammys seem to hate her
I somewhat agree, but you have to remember that Beyonce also had songs that could be submitted in a ton of different genre categories, whereas most artists stay in their lane for the most part. So, I think that also helped her with the number of nominations she received (deservingly)
I want her to win for YAYA and Spaghetii. Cowboy Carter didn’t feel like an era. It felt like a brief moment. However, I like that it gave exposure to Black country artists. I hate when The Grammys do damage control. She got the Best R&B Performance Grammy for Black Parade in 2021. Although it was relevant to heightened racial tensions in Summer 2020, it didn’t deserve the Grammy compared to actual R&B performances.
I adore Sabrina but Chappell has a more compelling story for that award, if they renamed it to “Best Breakthrough Artist” then I’d be more inclined to be split
@@EljohnMacaranas I still don't fully understand this category when they nominate someone who has been making mainstream music for 10 years -- but yeah, Sabrina is great, but Chappell's rise was huge and largely talked about. I feel she is definitely taking this one.
@@imaswiftieokay Fair! But her debut album also came out last year, I believe, so she is still very new. But this category is just weird. Like Eljohn said, they should probably rename it.
Also big congrats to Beyonce who honestly has 99 noms but not one single AOTY despite: - changing the day music is dropped (self titled) - reinventing concept album movies (Lemonade) - releasing Renaissance
Honestly. She’s deserved every AOTY win with each album that was nominated out of all the others each year. She DEFINITELY deserved for Self Titled and Lemonade because those 2 albums literally changed and shaped the way people have made music in the past 10 years. She also DEFINITELY deserves AOTY this year because she has once again changed the game and has bended genres like no other. Cowboy Carter sounds like nothing Beyoncé or anyone else has released ever
I am SO proud and shocked to see Sabrina get SIX nominations. Thank god!!! I hope she wins record of the year for Espresso. (Since that one is more about the success I think?)
@EljohnMacaranas If it's at least used to help restore music, or to actual positive reasons, I'm fine with it, like with isolating Lennon's voice in Now and then But using it to replicate voices should be completely unacceptable
I’m sorry but Radical Optimism didn’t deserved any noms. There was just so much good pop music this year that rightfully edged it out. We can’t be friends definetely deserved a SOTY and music video nom, but there’s only so many things the academy can get right. I actually think the Grammy’s did a great job this year, and people will complain no matter who gets nominated. There’s only so many slots guys!!! Eat your food.
Believing ariana deserved more noms over dua is wild to me. I dont think either is tHat great overall but radical optimism had stellar production quality and could absolutely deserve pop or dance production categories over ari
Talk about it! Dua lipa's best album. And that's not saying a lot was her first one. Her best song is genesis and there's that. Ariana grande needs to win another grammy. Stat!
"DELUSIONS" is what could be said on your opinion, bc Houdini was a stellar track that deserved pop categories as much as Illusion should've gotten in Dance; and while ES is a much better album objectively, the production of half of RO is impeccable and tasteful. Her team fumbled the bag with the project OVERALL but still undeservedly robbed
Hard agree on Taylor being able to submit whatever she wants for SOTY or ROTY, I think she could have submitted any of the songs from the album since they all smashed on the charts!
You’d think she’d have recognised that submitting her singles isn’t working when she, as an artist praised most for her songwriting, has never won SOTY. Like submitting Fortnight when that album has stuff like So Long London, Fresh Out The Slammer and Guilty As Sin is CRAZY
Ariana grande is getting the Mariah Carey treatment from the grammys, doesn't surprise me to be honest, they have always looked down upon the 90's pop and R&B sound
@@mohamedAgacemI disagree. Aris discography is perfect! Aesthetic and quality of that projects is one of the kind and have massive impact in life Ari like an normal ppl who listen her. And Santa tell me is the only christmas song from 2010s artist what is that big like Mariah Carey the biggest one
I was so proud to see Beyoncé nominated for the Country categories after what the CMAs did to her. I really hope she wins something. I'm happy to see albums like brat, Short n' Sweet, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, COWBOY CARTER and TTPD nominated, however, I feel like eternal sunshine and Gracie Abrams' The Secret of Us deserved WAY more nominations, not just for the albums themselves but the songs too. we can't be friends and I Love You, I'm Sorry I feel deserves to be recognized more. Also, Jack Antonoff was snubbed for me for Producer of The Year, as he worked on Short n' Sweet, The Secret of Us AND TTPD, three of the biggest albums of the year.
I need Bey to win a few! But everyone really put their best foot forward, I feel like in Gracie’s case I Love You I’m Sorry started gaining traction a bit AFTER voting closed which is a shame, I hate how much random timing plays in deciding who wins or is nominated
OOOOO The 2025 Grammys are finna be a BLOODBATH!!! Regardless of who wins, I think it'll be hella entertaining and a nice distraction from all the chaos that'll happen next year with Trump coming into office (again), and I just KNOW Stan Twitter is gonna be in SHAMBLES! I'm excited for it! Also glad to see Chappell, Sabrina, and Charli get so many nods! They all RULED this year! 😊
Regardless who wins the Grammys, it’s always fun seeing the meltdowns (the BTS ones were iconic, no shade to the band) and yeah honestly music is our escape at this point. I’m just scared pop is gonna become sludgy and sad when we need it to be bright and happy
If you're not american. How is it a distraction. What's going on here on american soil which includes american popular culture does not concern the rest the world.
This year (well every decade’s 4th year is always going to be the biggest year in music) just had too many good releases like I believe that eternal sunshine is Ari’s third best album but it didn’t compete well compared to the others nominated for album of the year. Best pop vocal album is the title it deserves to win but aoty is too much of a stretch considering brat and hit me hard and soft were nominated
I feel like they cannibalize each other’s votes, like had they been in separate years, they’d both sweep but it’s gonna be split unless one of them has a last minute breakout during voting
as much as i loved eternal sunshine, i understand why it didnt get an aoty nom, but we cant be friends not getting soty, roty or best mv nom is a crime, that song deserves the world and more. biggest snub this year imo.
excellent video as always I do think jack's snub says that taylor and sabrina might be snubbed too idk this year is so stacked also ariana getting nothing is a crime.
Ariana, Doja, Camila and Tyla deserved so much more. The biggest snub was Tate McRae for me tho! greedy was everywhere (I know it couldn't be nominated because of the release date) and I was very hopeful that the think later album will be nominated for something.
I don't think Brat was the best album of the year, I don't even really like it personally, but I still think Charli deserves to win it due to the cultural impact it had. She really came out and reminded us what an ALBUM is supposed to be, a whole cohesive concept that's gonna be remembered as a rounded up, thematic body of work, not just 2 or 3 hit singles that live on their own on an album with 10 other filler tracks. Love to see it
I’m hoping for either a Midwest Princess AOTY or Brat AOTY. I personally don’t think Taylor deserved AOTY last year for Midnights and I would honestly rather TTPD have won that award over Midnights if given the choice. TTPD was MY album of the year personally in my head but I think in terms of everybody else’s head Brat and Midwest Princess should get the award this year they are both incredible well liked albums for good reason. TTPD I think is too controversial of an album to win AOTY (which I personally love it because of it’s controversialness lol). I think it would mean a lot more if Chappell or Charli won it tho culturally, emotionally and meaningfully.
Chappell winning AOTY would signify so much between queer artist acceptance and celebrating an underdog rising to the very top after years of work (the latter would apply to Charli as well)
I’ve been a very big fan of Magdalena since I was in high school for about 6 almost 7 years now. I am beyond happy for them in the past few years on inching closer to their deserved success. Working with Apple, album praise, and general population funding then besides us who loved them long.
3:20 Billie Eilish is not the first artist to have their first three albums nominated for AOTY. Kanye West and Lady Gaga both had their first three albums nominated too.
As a big time Jacob Collier fan, if Djesse Vol 4 wins I’m throwing hands. Half the record is banger after banger but the other half is borderline unlistenable for me. I respect the ambition, talent, and vision though. I’d love it if Brat, HMHAS, or Midwest Princess won though. Or honestly any of them, this year has been so fun for music. My personal AOTY is charm, glad Clairo got some love
Not a Beatles fan but if you think about it this will be the last chance the grammys has to award the beatles. also the song isn't AI generated, they used the AI to remove background noises from Lennon's voice. love ariana but this year was stacked, her project got overshadowed by her own wicked promo and her messy drama. besides arianators and general fans, i don't think she's more popular than other nominated artists this year among grammy voters.
@@EljohnMacaranas It's fancy stem separation software. There's a very clear ethical difference between non-consensual generative AI like an AI voice changer, which The Grammys has already said is ineligible for submission, and the use of AI to streamline tasks that are routinely performed in a studio for engineering applications like cleanup of recordings. This is like yelling at someone for using a calculator on a calculus test - the work is still there and is still being done, it just streamlines the process slightly.
I feel like we should stop criticizing award shows for their results, especially the grammys. People nowadays believe that the recording academy is corrupted, while there is some truth to that, you still have to take into account that these votes are from real life musicians who judge the music not based on their tastes but by criteria selected by the academy. For example, if you make an album you should write at least the majority of the songs in the album with a minimum of people, that is why Beyoncé will never receive AOTY and why on the contrary Billie Eillish, Taylor Swift and adele are more successful for the prize as they write their songs alone or with one or two other people. That's why I believe the grammys should make it clear that they are not the VMA's, a popularity contest but a more "professional" award. While i do agree that the Nicki Minaj case is highly suspicious, others do make sense. For example, the harmonies that artists do is also a big criteria, and when you think about it Brandy and Mariah Carey are acclaimed for their music but do they have many grammys? No because the way they structure their songs is not in harmony with the criteria of the judges
People are allowed to be mad at the shows but yeah these are industry awards who’ve become pretty transparent about how they conduct voting. The nominations process of the past was revealed to be shady and cliquish but apparently final voting restricts each voter to about 3 fields (genres) and just the generals.
I understand what you mean but being an authentic songwriter isn’t a cafeteria for the Grammys so the musician committee actually voted based on their tastes. It’s a bit like what happens with the movie industry with Academy Awards where many judges disrespect animated movies every time but voted for the animated movie their children had liked but themselves didn’t bother to watch.
Mariah Carey and Brandy both write their songs, especially Mariah. Mariah has written 19 number one hits…so that automatically disqualifies your comment. and the grammys has never been a marker for professionalism, it is 100% a popularity contest and always has been, it’s about who can kiss up to the academy the most and who can play the game. It’s also ironic how biased it is that you completely discredited the hard work of the woman of color you mentioned (Brandy, Mariah, Beyonce) to talk about two white woman who make very typical radio pop music, there is no vocal harmony in any of Billie or Taylor’s music because they do not have the vocal abilities to create perfect harmonies the way other artists do. but of course, the grammys likes to ignore talented artists of color
@@makayla03333 It is also honest to say that Beyonce is the performer of songs crafted by other artists (many different artists for each album of hers, and that's why there is so much variation and blended genres in ber catalog). While Taylor creates music and lyrics of her own art, she's a complete artist not only a performer.
To your point, i find it highly suspicious that everyone in industry claims to love Beyoncé, yet they refuse to vote for her for AOTY. The call is coming from inside the house.
I’d love for it or Chappell but I’m currently leaning on Cowboy Carter assuming Bey actually promos. I know Charli’s SNL gig is her best shot at campaigning (and it’d help to do a few events in LA and NY)
For context on the AI Beatles thing - the use of AI was limited to separating John Lennon's vocals from the muddy piano track in his original demo recording so that both could be mixed properly with contributions from the rest of the band. The sessions on Now & Then actually date back to the 90s, but at the time it was scrapped because due to the poor quality of Lennon's original demo tape, they simply couldn't get it to sound good because the piano was interfering with the clarity of the vocals (and vice versa) THAT MUCH. The use of AI was fully non-generative and the specific AI algorithms used were innovated during the creation of the Get Back Disney+ series in order to ensure that the conversations between band members were clearly heard and not lost in the noise of recording. I could definitely get the hate (and would participate in it) if this was like some AI voice changer stuff or AI generated lyrics/melody but this was a pretty ethical use of AI to complete a pretty bog standard task in music production or creation of fan remixes when official stems aren't available. It's basically fancy stem separator software. I study CompSci and AI ethics is a big part of what I do since I'm in the vocal synth space, and based on everything I know as both a cover artist and as someone who works with deep learning, this is a very clear cut case of a fully ethical use of AI. I know there ARE concerns about this legitimizing less ethical applications but given the Heart on My Sleeve fiasco, I don't think that's going to happen since these are two entirely different ballparks with respect to the scope, purpose and ethics of the use. Cleaning up an archival recording isn't the same thing as just stealing someone's voice. Anyways justice for MagBay and I hope Chappell, Charli or Bey get AOTY
Thank you for clearing that up! I feel a little better it wasn't generative, but I'm just so concerned techbros and companies are gonna try to muscle their way into the industry and ruin it. Also, agreed on your picks!
I am so happy that Sabrina scored six nominations after 10 years of hard work she truly deserves it! I am also happy for Chappell and Charli as well. I'm hoping the best for these Powerpuff girlies on February 2nd✨✨✨❤️❤️
It would be very iconic and funny if when they are going to mention the album of the year, the same thing happens that happened to Taylor with Red, like "and the grammy goes to thhhheeeee rise and fall of a midwest princess" and that we all believe that they will mention The Tortured Poets Department
For Ariana being snubbed, I can't help but think this is the repeat of when Taylor's reputation being snubbed. Like, both reputation and eternal sunshine are the great record, a comeback album, very commercially successful, but due to the hatred Taylor and Ariana received prior the albums released; it effects to their albums being ignored by Grammys, and coming out as both reputation and eternal sunshine being nominated only in the genre category, while being totally snubbed for the general field.
As for Billie sweeping, I feel like AOTY might be her best bet in the general, BOAF is def strong but I feel like the awards body might just give her AOTY if they don’t split across the other pop picks
Brat pick for album of the year. I think it has a pretty good chance to bring home a lot of awards and it’s iconic because usually electronic Albums are put to the side. But I wouldn’t doubt if she lost because it’s a hard category.
I think Brat has a stronger chance than some people predict because Charli has multiple bases outside of pop voting for her, similar to how Beyonce has a wider net. All the other pop acts have to convince split voters.
Love the thumbnail! They’re gonna nominate the Beatles if they can, always. They’re a legacy group. I hope they pay proper homage to Quincy Jones! He is the grandfather of pop music. TBH this last week has made me realize that things don’t make sense anymore.
Eternal Sunshine getting none of the general awards was FOUL. How did an AI song get nominated?? 🤢 That just makes the Scammys look even worse. They’re treating Ariana like they’ve done to Mariah all these years, it makes no sense. Most of all the other general noms are definitely deserved imo, but Ariana should’ve been up for them too and I will die on that hill
@EljohnMacaranas I don't think they will reward consecutive winner like tay and billie cuz they recently won in sory aoty. But we know Bruno will win that 100% cuz he didn't lost a single nom in 10 years
Agree. It's an album built on a lot of money to pay a lot of different artists in order to create music and words for her to perform. Unfortunately the result is that Beyonce doesn't have a real hit since 2008.
@@laurabubu4260Delusional. It’s people only say this for Beyonce despite Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande having tons of money behind their projects. You can keep pretending like Beyonce isn’t a part of her music but it’s clearly not true as the credits and interviews show. Also, since 2008? lol That was literally when her career just started claiming it’s peak. Obviously she is making more political; black American focused music now so its reach will be inherently limited. But I love it.
@@cuauhtez interviews? politics? Please... Beyonce stopped giving interviews years and years ago because she can barely talk! And when she read a political speech prepared for her by some educated gost-writer she represent a mere puppet. Maybe she is a model for the black community, but the rest of the world see her for what she is: a Diddy's girl.
At one point, I was mad that Halsey didn't get nominated in anything but then I remembered her album JUST came out so it wasn't eligible for the 2025 Grammys. I'm hoping it will get nominated for the 2026 awards (if not in the General Field, then at least in the Alternative)
I feel like she will nab something in Alternative for the album, maybe Album nom but her release timing def is a handicap bc she released at the top of the submission period
Cowboy Carter had only 2 weeks at the peek of Billboard 200, was out of the top ten in the blink of an eye, going down each week, and completely disappeared from the 200 in 6 month. I don't see such an impact in the public opinion. Plus here in Europe nobody noticed that album. I think America is taking quite questionable decision lately regarding who to place in the top spots... 🙅
To be honest, I don’t really care about the Grammys, but I will definitely watch it this year. a recap on your TH-cam channel. Many more snaps, Doja, Megan, and Ariana. Brat is the album of the year for me, but I won’t be mad if Billie takes it. I cannot wait for the lamb and the fame monster videos.
LAMB is on its way (possibly Wednesday but it's looking like Friday), today was the anniversary and I'm so glad its impact is around 20 years after the fact.
I loved Yes, And. That was a great start to my year… that’s disappointing but like you said Grammys don’t really matter… some of my favorite artists don’t have Grammys bc they know it’s a joke. I.e. Angel Olsen, L.A. Witch, Ty Segall, White Fence, Holy Wave … mainstream is a whole other beast
Houdini was good but Duas full album was overhyped and underwhelming but I’m excited for her next work she’s absolutely amazing just competing against many other amazing artists who deserve recognition more this year
OK! SO HERE'S HOW IT SHOULD GO: 1. Charli XCX with BRAT for "best electronica" 2. Chappell Roan! This one js hard! Either best pop performance with GOOD LUCK BABE (wish it was pink pony club 💘😢) or best new artist 3. Knocked Loose with SUFFOCATE ft. Poppy for best metal ! 4. Kendrick Lamar with NOT LIKE US for song of the year 5. Beyoncé with COWBOY CARTER for album of the year.
I honestly would be happy with your predictions. I feel like Brat does deserve best Electronic/Dance album, like the other records are great but Charli's was the breakthrough
I doubt it’ll win but I really want Brat for AOTY. She had a good era which isn’t even over but also the album is fun and lyrically on point. Get into the deep topics y’all
If I were voting, I’d have voted for Brat in AOTY tbh, Charli’s leveraged a 10 year shift from being a part of mainstream pop to actually shaping the genre itself
I think brat, Short N’Sweet, and Chappell Roan will win. Their albums and performances were the biggest pop music moments of the year. I hope Shaboozey wins SOTY and Doechii and Glorilla win Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song respectively.
9:10 THIS SONG IS NOT AI GENERATED. They had a REAL recording John Lennon made before he died. In the demo there was a TV in the background, and AI was only used to isolate John's vocals. That's literally all. Honestly, the song is heartbreaking, and considering the Beatles contributions to music itself, is beyond deserved. The two Beatles still alive gave their vocals to the song, and gave filmed a beautiful retrospective music video on one of the hugest bands of all time.
For years like this they should open the nomination more, like I kinda get it, 2024 is the pop revival and probably the most important year from the 20s because I swear next year is going to be Gaga, Lorde, Rep TV, and Beyonce rock album.
I know it's a bit outside of your radar, but I am VERY happy about Jacob Collier's nomination for Album of the Year with Djesse Vol. 4. Jacob has always been an incredible music genius, and the Djesse quadrilogy was really an incredible journey, and that fourth episode as a conclusion was exceeding expectations and closing things in a way that was really earth shattering, breaking boundaries, pushing back what is possible, and resetting the music scene. Collier touched on so many genres with just one record, magnified the artists that featured on it, and expanded who he was while at the same time going back to his roots in a beautiful way. And I know that Chappell is supposed to be your favourite artist's favourite artist, but Jacob definitely is your favourite musician's favourite musician. If the Grammys are not too focused on Beyoncé, I think he could be a dark horse and win this one. After all, Beyoncé is going to break the world with her third installment of the trilogy, while Jacob just finished his own, sooooo
I feel like Beyonce should win not in part to her being overdue but because of the bravery she had reentering and staking claim to country spaces (Shaboozey honestly owes his killer success partly to her for giving him a platform tbh), but I am interested in exploring Jacob’s Djesse project after your comment. I might not make a video about it but I’m tuned in now!
@EljohnMacaranas that's a very good point, it would be a deserved win for sure. As for Jacob Collier, I can only recommend discovering him, both his studio efforts and looking at video recordings of his shows, they're mind-blowing. But I also have to warn you that he's an acquired taste, with a "more is more" approach, and since he masters harmonies, rhythms and melodies like no one, it can easily get overwhelming, very overwhelming. He knows it and uses it for contrast in incredible ways in Djesse Vol. 4, but it's for sure not for everyone's taste. I recommend starting with Djesse Vol. 4 maybe, especially Little Blue (folk), Witness Me (gospel), Bridge Over Troubled water (soul), Over You (k-pop and pop-rock), since they're Jacob's foray into more mainstream styles. The previous albums (especially the first one) are him reinventing classical, choral, jazz, orchestral and contemporary music, so it's a lot less accessible. But if you enjoy his style, give also a go to the other volumes, because he is doing beautiful callbacks in Vol. 4. Also, be ready to be blown away by vocals 😁
I'm fine with Taylor not winning anything even though I'm a fan because that album felt more like Taylor just offloading a whole year of therapy onto us than her trying to make a cohesive album 🥴 TTPD is my second favorite album she's ever done too!
Correction. If I'm not mistaken Gaga had The Fame, The Fame Monster and Born This Way. Technically her first 3 albuns. Unless you're counting The Fame Monster as a repackage. But it's strong enough to be considered an album
I was working off that premise but another commenter mentioned Kanye, I think the stat I was reciting from memory was actually youngest artist to have their first 3 album considered.
@@108daytona6 It was released as a single on June 13, 2023, so it was eligible for 2024 ceremony, the same one that Midnights won. So, she probably wanted the Recording Academy to focus on Midnights, like she wanted them to focus on evermore so she didn't submit anything from Fearless TV, therefore, she didn't submit Cruel Summer.
eternal sunshine deserves the nom more than cowboy carter for AOTY. you heard more from ari than bey in pop culture. CC lasted maybe 2 weeks before it was out of the light. so many others deserve that award i’m sorry
I'm still confuse as to why Beyonce is the only one with deep cuts and non-singles songs nominated, and a shame that taylor didn't submmited more songs she had 31 tracks to choose from
I'm with you on the deep cut thing. I wish people would submit more "hidden gems" rather than the obvious popular ones. I mean, most of my favorite songs by artists are the deep cuts. For real, try to tell me that there's a song by Mariah Carey better than "Vanishing" and I will say, "I beg to differ, my friend." 🤨 . . . 😄 Speaking of Mariah, apparently, if you Google her currently, you will see snowflakes. ❄ Merry . . . November-mas, I guess. 👍
I'm sooo happy to see that Beyoncé received so many nominations and I would be so glad if she'd finally win AOTY. She's overdue. And honestly, I don't think that any other album came even close to Cowboy Carter this year in terms of impact, cultural relevance and vocal arrangements. Actually I think, she might win a few. But I'm also happy for Sabrina Carpenter, Charlie XCX and Chappell Roan, hope they also win big. I don't think Taylor will be that much of a winner this time. Just a feeling. And I would have put Ariana Grande in for an AOTY nod instead of Billie.
Impact? Cowboy Carter spent 4 months in the lowest part of billboard 200 before disappearing completely. It seems you americans didn't listen to it so much...
I think Hit Me Hard And Soft will win AOTY tbh. Like you sort of said Chappell and Sabrina kinda cancel each other out in terms of appeal and votes. I honestly think Taylor deserves it but I think she has the odds stacked against her from her recent win and the albums mixed reception to boot Especially considering Jack being snubbed, if that was a political move to prevent him from winning again then it wouldn’t surprise me if they did the same to Tay
EXCUSE ME BUT... WHY DID THEY SNOBED ARIANA GRANDE , DOJA CAT , DUA LIPA AND MEGAN THE STALLION ??😩 ANYWAY I'M REALLY HAPPY FOR BEYONCÉ, SABRINA CARPENTER, CHAPPEL ROAN, DOECHII AND CHARLIE XCX...I LOVE THEM ❤

All of y'all spilled nothing but the truth!
Chappell is definitely taking Best New Artist this year, but I'm still sad The Last Dinner Party didn't get nominated.
I mean to be fair, Chappell debuted in 2017, in fact Sabrina isn’t even the oldest artist on the list, Karugabin (I butchered that) debuted in 2010.
@@imaswiftieokay Fair! But her debut album also came out last year, I believe, so she is still very new. But this category is just weird. Like Eljohn said, they should probably rename it.
There is a difference between being new and becoming mainstream! But yes, they 100% have to rename this category.
Also big congrats to Beyonce who honestly has 99 noms but not one single AOTY despite:
- changing the day music is dropped (self titled)
- reinventing concept album movies (Lemonade)
- releasing Renaissance
4th time is the charm 😭
I am forever bummed lemonade didn’t win. That album is such a masterpiece
ABOUT DAMN TIME FOR COWBOY CARTER!!!!
I am SO proud and shocked to see Sabrina get SIX nominations. Thank god!!! I hope she wins record of the year for Espresso. (Since that one is more about the success I think?)
That song had a very strong chart record for it!
@@melonpeach9723 nope
I think ROTY is more about the production, and SOTY is more about the writing (hence why she put espresso in record and ppp in song)
@ yess about the lyrics for song of the year. that makes sense, either way, i wish her well!
Let's pray 🛐🕯️
9:08 the only use of AI on the song was to isolate john lennon's vocals on his demo of now and then, so they could use it on the finished song
I still hate the fact AI might be legitimized by that, it has no real place in music in its current form
@EljohnMacaranas If it's at least used to help restore music, or to actual positive reasons, I'm fine with it, like with isolating Lennon's voice in Now and then
But using it to replicate voices should be completely unacceptable
@@octodan9914 This I agree with. Not to mention the song itself being pretty good.
@@vicstonek9 yes. It's a beautiful ending for the Beatles
Hozier DEVERVED a nomination. He wasn't gonna win it no matter what, but he should have been nominated at least.
I wonder what category his team submitted him under?!
We Can’t Be Friends was truly an omission worth noting, almost egregious considering its acclaim and chart success (if they were weighing that)
Believing ariana deserved more noms over dua is wild to me. I dont think either is tHat great overall but radical optimism had stellar production quality and could absolutely deserve pop or dance production categories over ari
@@vanillac0keh3ad DELUSIONS
Talk about it! Dua lipa's best album. And that's not saying a lot was her first one. Her best song is genesis and there's that. Ariana grande needs to win another grammy. Stat!
"DELUSIONS" is what could be said on your opinion, bc Houdini was a stellar track that deserved pop categories as much as Illusion should've gotten in Dance; and while ES is a much better album objectively, the production of half of RO is impeccable and tasteful.
Her team fumbled the bag with the project OVERALL but still undeservedly robbed
I wish brat would win AOTY… it defines the year and the moment of pop so well. If it’s not brat, it MUST be Chappell
Honestly, the impact it had culturally cannot be understated like that green is hers for a lifetime
Hard agree on Taylor being able to submit whatever she wants for SOTY or ROTY, I think she could have submitted any of the songs from the album since they all smashed on the charts!
Guilty as Sin would have definitely won something idc best song on that record
i fear ICDIWABH clears
You’d think she’d have recognised that submitting her singles isn’t working when she, as an artist praised most for her songwriting, has never won SOTY. Like submitting Fortnight when that album has stuff like So Long London, Fresh Out The Slammer and Guilty As Sin is CRAZY
I think it’s definitely her team still thinking we work by pre-streaming rules, Bey’s team leveraged that to get a wider net
Ariana grande is getting the Mariah Carey treatment from the grammys, doesn't surprise me to be honest, they have always looked down upon the 90's pop and R&B sound
That’s sad to hear
Dang it!! Comparing the “Breakup with your girlfriend I’m bored” chick with THE Mariah Carey?? Oh HUNyyyy!! 😩💀💀
@kyramoonrise9064 vocally They are on par with each other, but quality of music wise I know it's Mariah Carey that has the better discography

I like how theres about 3 millenials nominated and 3 gen zs
Love to see younger artists be taken seriously, there def was a bias in the past they cannot do today

Personally, I would be happy with Cowboy Carter, Chappelle, Short n Sweet, or Hit me hard and soft winning AOTY, but Bey is overdue for this award.
I think CC has the wide enough support to do it
Ariana, Doja, Camila and Tyla deserved so much more.

eternal sunshine is the biggest snub this year indeed, but snubbing artist has become a habit for grammy's
This year was crowded but that album generated 2 no. 1 hits
I haven’t forgot what they did to The Weeknd
I don't think Brat was the best album of the year, I don't even really like it personally, but I still think Charli deserves to win it due to the cultural impact it had. She really came out and reminded us what an ALBUM is supposed to be, a whole cohesive concept that's gonna be remembered as a rounded up, thematic body of work, not just 2 or 3 hit singles that live on their own on an album with 10 other filler tracks. Love to see it
You had me in the first half ngl but your points stand strong

that’s not her best record and it didn’t have anywhere close to the impact of other albums released this year 😂
She wasn’t robbed just because it was your favourite.
Magdalena is on their way! Imaginal Disk honestly was one of the best records of the year, deserved to be in the conversation
3:20 Billie Eilish is not the first artist to have their first three albums nominated for AOTY. Kanye West and Lady Gaga both had their first three albums nominated too.
Ooops I meant youngest.
Charm is a classic omfg, but thank you for chiming in, I’m not familiar with him but I def wanted to see opinions
Congrats to Doechii as well I hope she wins at least 1 Grammy
Doechii’s rise has been so cool to see
As a casual Ariana Grande fan, SNUBBED! What?
Agreed, ES was a masterclass
Billie deserves album of the year, it's an experience
I feel like the most impressive thing about it is how short and succinct it is like just 10 tracks, no misses
I still feel like it’d legitimize AI slowly being used within music for more sinister purposes down the line
BRAT for AOTY !

Ariana deserved Record of the year, song of the year & obviously Album of the year ❤
Her best work till date got snubbed
They got jealous of Wicked
It would be very iconic and funny if when they are going to mention the album of the year, the same thing happens that happened to Taylor with Red, like "and the grammy goes to thhhheeeee rise and fall of a midwest princess" and that we all believe that they will mention The Tortured Poets Department
I fear they gonna try that again but Tay will be prepared this time and just sit down
For Ariana being snubbed, I can't help but think this is the repeat of when Taylor's reputation being snubbed.
Like, both reputation and eternal sunshine are the great record, a comeback album, very commercially successful,
but due to the hatred Taylor and Ariana received prior the albums released; it effects to their albums being ignored by Grammys,
and coming out as both reputation and eternal sunshine being nominated only in the genre category, while being totally snubbed for the general field.
Really hoping for another Billie sweep or maybe a Chappell sweep but I’d also like 360 for roty or not like us for any of its awards esp soty.
Not Like Us is my personal pick for SOTY just on the writing of it alone and how quick it was conceived
@@EljohnMacaranas I agree, it’s named one of the most acclaimed albums of the year. She could bag it.
Love the thumbnail! They’re gonna nominate the Beatles if they can, always. They’re a legacy group. I hope they pay proper homage to Quincy Jones! He is the grandfather of pop music. TBH this last week has made me realize that things don’t make sense anymore.

Agree. It's an album built on a lot of money to pay a lot of different artists in order to create music and words for her to perform. Unfortunately the result is that Beyonce doesn't have a real hit since 2008.
Literally one of the most critically acclaimed albums this year.
Cowboy Carter had only 2 weeks at the peek of Billboard 200, was out of the top ten in the blink of an eye, going down each week, and completely disappeared from the 200 in 6 month. The real breakthrough artist is Raye. If she doesn't win Best New Artist, I think Chappell Roan should be the other contender.
Chappel just fired her management team just before the voting sadly i hope it doesnt negatively affect her chances to campaign.
It might tbh, Olivia swapped teams between Sour and Guts and we saw what happened (not that we know who Chappell signed to now)

It’s insane it got shut out, reminds me of Caroline Polachek getting shut out aside from engineering 💀
Do you think the fact that “we can’t be friends” was too similar to Robyn hurt it’s artistic integrity ?
Not really, I think it was overlooked because too much new music dropped and there’s clear disinterest after Ari prioritizing her film career
Doechii deserves a Grammy, her rise is a true grassroots story

I partially blame her management for dropping the ball last year with GUTS. Great album, acclaimed, yet nothing.
Ariana grande being moved to the side is just disrespectful.
They hate to see her shine in Wicked
For years like this they should open the nomination more, like I kinda get it, 2024 is the pop revival and probably the most important year from the 20s because I swear next year is going to be Gaga, Lorde, Rep TV, and Beyonce rock album.
I think 8 is a solid number per the generals
BILLIE deserves all awards!
I'm fine with Taylor not winning anything even though I'm a fan because that album felt more like Taylor just offloading a whole year of therapy onto us than her trying to make a cohesive album 🥴 TTPD is my second favorite album she's ever done too!
Fair enough 😭
Album of the year simply HAS to go to BRAT
genuinely baffeling how she didnt submit cruel summer for anything considering it couldve done well
She could have released the Eras Tour live version the way Adele submitted Set Fire to the Rain Live to circumvent the “old recording rule”
@ cruel summer the original was eligible so that wasn’t necessary
@@108daytona6 It was released as a single on June 13, 2023, so it was eligible for 2024 ceremony, the same one that Midnights won.
So, she probably wanted the Recording Academy to focus on Midnights, like she wanted them to focus on evermore so she didn't submit anything from Fearless TV,
therefore, she didn't submit Cruel Summer.
eternal sunshine deserves the nom more than cowboy carter for AOTY. you heard more from ari than bey in pop culture. CC lasted maybe 2 weeks before it was out of the light. so many others deserve that award i’m sorry
I feel like Republic Records and the voters punished her for prioritizing Wicked which tbh isn't fair to her or ES as a body of work
@@EljohnMacaranas that’s so true. i’m not even an ari fan like that; but ES, deserved more
Jack has 5 General field noms including two soty two aoty and one roty and didn't get nomination for producer is clearly a trick to not give him
I think they just wanted to ensure he doesn't win again. He likely would!
I'm still confuse as to why Beyonce is the only one with deep cuts and non-singles songs nominated, and a shame that taylor didn't submmited more songs she had 31 tracks to choose from
I think she and her team don’t truly realize what liberties the streaming world affords people in the awards space
well beyonce was the only one to really submit album cuts to the grammys
We might’ve lost the election, but we can win the Grammys!
FRFR
Who do you think will win for the best song written for visual media Olivia or Jon Batiste
I slightly favor Olivia because of Dan’s nomination but would not be surprised if Batiste won because he’s loved by the voters.
I hope Billie wins album of the year. Everyone’s prediction is her winning that category but everyone in it are all great except Taylor.
so happy for RAYE even though she's one year late to the party. hope she got at least one win
I think they blacklist everyone who speaks bad about them (ex: Nicki Minaj, the weeknd) this is why maybe they didn't nominate eternal sunshine..
Tbh if they were an objective body (really they aren’t) they’d allow formal criticisms.
I mean ariana just performed at a grammy event this year sooo
I'm with you on the deep cut thing. I wish people would submit more "hidden gems" rather than the obvious popular ones. I mean, most of my favorite songs by artists are the deep cuts. For real, try to tell me that there's a song by Mariah Carey better than "Vanishing" and I will say, "I beg to differ, my friend." 🤨 . . . 😄 Speaking of Mariah, apparently, if you Google her currently, you will see snowflakes. ❄ Merry . . . November-mas, I guess. 👍
Omg merry November-mas! And YES! Hidden gems and album cuts should be noticed, streaming broke everything!
I honestly do think the swath of nominations and the current climate hints at CC prevailing where her other deserving records did not.
I honestly think Taylor deserves it but I think she has the odds stacked against her from her recent win and the albums mixed reception to boot
Especially considering Jack being snubbed, if that was a political move to prevent him from winning again then it wouldn’t surprise me if they did the same to Tay
HMHAS winning would be the most safe choice for the evening but ultimately the least discourse generating outcome…
EXCUSE ME BUT... WHY DID THEY SNOBED ARIANA GRANDE , DOJA CAT , DUA LIPA AND MEGAN THE STALLION ??😩
ANYWAY I'M REALLY HAPPY FOR BEYONCÉ, SABRINA CARPENTER, CHAPPEL ROAN, DOECHII AND CHARLIE XCX...I LOVE THEM ❤
Doja was robbed so hard, Ari too... like we know why they hate Megan (the big label companies could not stand an independent artist doing THAT well)
@EljohnMacaranas I WANNA CRY 😭...
is there a chance we get a magdalena bay imaginal disk video? i wanna hear your thoughts on the album please
Likely after my TFM and LAMB videos but before the X-Mas drops.
