yes and took the bullet for the album. People needed her to release something so they can take their frustration on wich eventually was yes and. So when the album came out people forgot about the drama and focused on the art
Recoding Academy voters don’t care about Ethan 🙄 they just aren’t huge Ariana fans. They never have been. That’s why they’ve given her so few Grammys over the years
I'm here for all the girlies but my man Hozier always getting snubbed will never not enrage me. Too Sweet should've been nominated for song of the year.
This year Gojira received nomination in best metal perfomance cathegory and it costed opening show on literal Olipics for Grammys to notice that Europe (and other continents as well) also have a music and this a short story of what I thinking about all those awards...
The AI on this beatles track is like the difference between using AI to completely generate a picture out of thin air, and using an AI filter to clean up and edit a photo you went out and took with an actual camera. It uses AI but it is not AI *generated*. AI sketches me out too but this particular instance is not a super big deal IMO, its just a new level up in the sophistication level of digital audio editing. A more compelling reason why the beatles nom is out of left field is because ITS FROM THE 1970s. The grammys remain one of pop culture`s most salient examples of utter white boomer nonsense. Thanks for another great video!
Honestly I don't understand why every generation seems to hold the Grammys and other industry award events to such high degrees anymore. Like, it's only going to get more irritating from here with AI being more readily available anyway. I don't think people have the Grammys dictate what music they should like, but this constant anger of "my favorite artist didn't win X award" makes me question why they care
am I the only one who thinks it's actually good that the Grammy's sometimes reward less popular artists for their high technical proficiency? like... the most famous artists are kind of the ones who don't need the exposure and sometimes less famous artists are just really really good and they deserve to be honored for that.
honestly.. Megan's already won. She's tied to names like Jay Z.. so I don't even think it bothers her but yeah, could've gotten a nomination but she will be in spotlight after a year or two ❤
@@ggspooks7915yeah but its true, Megan is repetitive, she can't make a song that doesn't sound like all her other songs, girl can't even change the subject matter.. if you heard one Megan song then you've heard them all. She's really not that special...
I think this discourse is reflective of the fact that AI is actually a much broader spectrum of technologies than a lot of people think. To a lot of people, "AI" does refer to Generative AI (which, to be clear, should stay away from commercialised art), but it actually refers to any technology that can "learn". If you have any kind of recent technical or scientific background, you will have encountered some good uses for AI (and let's be honest, many more where people have used it as a buzzword to get more funding...). This is an example of an AI technology being used for what is effectively art preservation, and I don't think there's any justifiable reason to discount the track because of it. (Also, Now and Then is up for Record of the Year, which does include the technical component of recording the song, so I think the fact that new technology was used to turn this into a recordable song actively justifies its presence there)
Honestly I think Eternal Sunshine didn’t get as many nominations as it could’ve was mainly because it was released the same time her homewrecking controversy became public. We can’t be friends got popular but it was right after we found out what happened.
Ariana NEVER does well at the Grammys. She’s no Grammy darling. Fans should be used to it by now. A lot of Ariana Grande fans didn’t really care for her sweetener album, but it’s the only one of her albums that ever won a Grammy and Ariana didn’t even turn up to the ceremony that year. After the Grammy win, fans interestingly began this revisionist history that sweetener was this amazing album that everyone had loved all along. 🙄 the switch up was crazy. The truth is the academy has never been all-in on Ariana Grande. I think the academy believe she’s a great singer but not a very interesting artist.
Something similar happened in the 90s with Natalie cole using technology to sing a duet with her father Nat king cole who had died previously. It was pretty cool and got nominated for a Grammy.
THANK YOU for providing context on the AI of Now and Then. This is one use of AI that I support in the sense where all they did was isolate John Lennon’s vocals. I can’t help that Arianators stay insufferable considering they are still not over Ariana not winning for ‘thank u, next’. Yes, I agree I was surprised she wasn’t nominated for ‘eternal sunshine’, but this year was STACKED.
People's opinions on the Grammys shifts entirely on how their fave is doing. If they are nominated a bunch, it's prestige used to drag others. If they aren't it's a piece of overrated rig shit that nobody even cares about anymore. Also a little comfort to Ari stans about We Can't Be Friends not being nominated is that Dancing On My Own by Robyn was nominated in 2010 so there's that

Wow the fact that Spotify would even allow ai music in their big playlists is crazy and quite frankly disgusting. Instead of giving that spot to a smaller artist who may not have any label playlisting they give it to a computer … REALLY
Okay but like.......are we not gonna talk about how this is also just profiting on the work of the deceased and using their voice/art without consent. AI or not.
this might be unlikely but I really hope brat wins aoty! To see an artist I love who's barely made any noise before apart from a few hits a decade ago, to blow tf up and dominate the summer in terms of music is so amazing
Honestly, I’ve been a Beatles fan forever so I feel like I can speak on this. Now and Then’s demo has been out in the world for a very long time. It used to circulate TH-cam and Tumblr back in the day. Having listened to both versions of the song a lot, it sounds almost exactly the same. The main changes are the integration of Paul, George, and Ringo’s parts which were recorded for real. The vocals on John and as you said the piano are a lot clearer but similar to the original. So I feel like the outrage over an AI generated song being nominated is ridiculous because so little of the actual song is AI. Also Now and Then is one of their best songs, yeah I said it, and deserves a Grammy.
appreciate the callout to Hozier, im really dissapointed he didnt get any nominations, its my belief that hes one of the greatest talents of our century.
She was snubbed period she deserved at least a nomination for aoty. People are acting like her music wasn’t everywhere in the spring. Ofc the hype has died down a little since it came out 8 months ago, but she deserved credit where credit was due. It’s exhausting as an arianator because she’s always getting snubbed and there’s always a lame excuse for it.
It was an average album. Only big hit was we can’t be friends. But I think the problem is that she devoted more of this year promoting her movie Wicked. Eternal Sunshine felt more like a side project, a fan service album to just release a new album after so long and get it out of the way. She’s more into campaigning for Wicked, breaking out as an actress and possibly winning an Oscar. She had her moment at the Grammys with TYN and ES wasn’t that type of album. This year there was a lot of exciting pop albums out and as good as Ariana’s was, it just got overlooked and forgotten by a lot of people.
Critics didn't see it as average, or the Academy for that matter. The most exciting album was probably Chappell's or Beyonce. Every other AOTY nominee's was good but the year Sabrina had was more exciting than the album itself.
@@RossBaby91 That's the case for the only men to be nominated for AOTY this year so I don't that think that matters that much to the Academy. ES may not have made as much noise as some others, but it still made noise, therwise the singles wouldn't have been all over the radio, going viral, or the album having billions of streams. But that's not the sole criteria for the Grammys, either way.
@@RossBaby91 Then they wouldn't have a tendency to nominate and select to win, albums that are not popular at all. They consider more than just that, when voting, and that's not news.
As an Ariana fan Eternal Sunshine was pretty mid. Not snubbed at all. The only AOTY album that its better than was TTPD and obviously Taylor was gonna get nominated over Ariana because the Grammys LOVEEEE Taylor
Taylor is a shoe in for a nominee as always because like Billie she is sort of a Grammy darling, but as much as it pains me to say this, she won’t win against Sabrina, Chappel, or Billie.
Im not mad at the use of AI in the Beatles song, im mad at the fact I think it’s just an okay song. We had a packed year and it feels like they picked this song just because it’s the Beatles.
Getting mad about the most successful artist not getting the award is like that "wanting a popular film category at the oscars" thing - like the box office was already your reward guys! Also we're getting into more and more trouble by calling everything "AI" - none of it is actual AI and the different variations of algorithmic/generative/whatever tools need better labels to distinguish the bad stuff from the even worse stuff
no one is talking about eternal sunshine outside of arianators and causal fans. also people need to keep in mind that ariana has turned people off completely with her behavior whether fans want to be delusional and act like ari is innocent or not. i feel like getting with ethan the way she did turned a lot of people off. i personally really liked the album but it’s not one i revisit often. it’s just not as memorable as other albums that came out this year. if everyone didn’t drop and go on tour this year i think it would’ve been better for her. the best pop vocal nom is the only nominated for her that makes sense
I heard plenty of people who weren't fans say that enjoyed the album, so I disagree with that. The scandal itself did not have as much impact as people want to claim. Regardless of fans' opinions or haters' opinions, those rumors have already been debunked, even if you still think the situation is messy. And the Grammys definitely don't care about that. They nominated two albums that no one's even heard of, as well as mainstream ones. But it's not a secret that she has a spotty history with them, and they make a habit of shutting people out who speak against them. Let's not pretend they make their decisions solely based on what's most "deserving".
@ of course they were “debunked” ariana doesn’t want to look bad lol. not exactly rocket science with that one. and my point is overall when it comes to music eternal sunshine wasn’t as massive as to be expected. a lot of other albums overshadowed it. my opinion is no she wasn’t “snubbed” by the grammys. people complain every year but still give the awards all of their attention lol. it’s a great and forgettable album at the same time. it is what it is
okay but you have to admit that we can’t be friends deserved at least one nomination. when the song came out it was huge. like literally everywhere. the mv was phenomenal and it’s ariana’s fastest song to reach 1b streams. yes and and the tbim getting nominations is good but neither of them were bigger or more impactful than wcbf and the latter is literally one of the biggest and most memorable songs of this year
@@lunarblake The idea she paid page six to debunk the rumors they started, is basless and idiotic, but that's irrelevant to the grammys conversation. Clearly they don't base nominations solely on commercial success or cultural impact, or the two men who were nominated for AOTY wouldn't have been. Music is subjective and some people have terrible taste, but when even the haters think that an album was snubbed, it says a lot. But it's whatever, people complain because the Grammys show how rigged they are, especially in terms of winners. That's the one relevant thing about them at this point. 🤷♀
Ariana Grande Butera did mention about award show ten years ago. Ariana Grande Butera said,"What is the point of winning the award if there is no appreciation from the public." Look what happen to the late voice singer Whitney Houston who is so rich and successfully won so many awards but failed to search or create her own happiness inside herself.
Kinda related but, as a Chappell Roan fan I couldn't care less about if she wins any Grammys, the fact that she's even nominated is something to celebrate🎉🎉🎉
I think it's more egregious that Ariana Grande's "We Can't Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)" music video wasn't nominated for Best Music Video. And The Beatles' "Now And Then". And even more baffling, no Taylor Swift "The Eras Tour" in Best Music Film. Or Celine Dion's "I Am Celine Dion" documentary.
I knew Ari may be left out in the cold when it legit appeared a pop girl dropped every month- Ari, Taylor, Billie, Camila, Sabrina, Chappel.. I fear Ari didnt have a song on the album that shifted the conversation or culture… Yes And? Was shock value at best and a poor man’s Madonna B Side record from the 80s We Cant Be Friends was… nice! The video feels like a rehash of Rihanna’s We Found Love.. The Boy Is Mine is only good as a remix..
Mariah Carey is the best example of how stupid the grammys are and how meaningless their rewards actually are. Only 5 wins, and yet has 19 number 1's on billboard.
@@user-mz2ne4yh2tthey claim to cherish artistic merit and not be a representation of commercial success, so why is it that 90% of their awards go to solely the best performing albums on the billboard charts (while ignoring the records that were critically acclaimed)? if they’re not an award for commercial success, they’re doing a horrible job lol
@@user-mz2ne4yh2teven if you ignore commercial success, the grammys doesnt award talent either. Most of the people who win are compliant and suck up to the producers in the industry. Those who don't tolerate mistreatment are blacklisted
tbh I just feel like eternal sunshine didn't have the cultural impact people think it did & that's why it didn't get nominated in the big categories. i'm more annoyed megan thee stallion didn't get nominated for anything at least ariana has three nominations.
It’s not complicated to me. This was one of Ariana’s weakest albums in my opinion. I haven’t gone back to any of the songs or the album as a whole since I listened to it the first time. Yes, it had a few big hits, but I don’t think that automatically means it deserves a Grammy. I love Taylor Swift and I don’t even think she deserved an AOTY nomination. I was disappointed by TTPD. I know the Grammys have their own standards and criteria, but I think the album as a whole needs to be influential and innovative in some way. Eternal Sunshine was okay, but I felt I wasted my time listening to it because she had nothing interesting to say and sonically, it was very homogeneous which left me bored. Even as a popularity contest, outside of her own hardcore fans, I don’t see Eternal Sunshine as a whole being widely regarded as a great album. I think people just expected her to receive an AOTY nomination because she’s a huge pop star and they were surprised when she didn’t. At the end of the day, an artist or album’s merit shouldn’t be determined by whether or not it was recognized by the Grammys. If you like it, you like it. Who cares?
As a swiftie, ttpd doesn’t deserve almost any of the nominations it got. It was very slow, repetitive, wayyyyy too long, and not her best work. Some of the best songs she has ever written are on it (clara bow, who’s afraid of little old me) but the album overall is incredibly weak.
As another Swiftie, i think the album itself was way better than you described (especially the Anthology, which I love.) However, Fortnight as a single/grammy nom is ridiculous because that song is really weak. Why does she pick her weakest singles to nominate??
I appreciate this comment! I thought ttpd was dull and tired, and lyrically pretty corny. I think taylor writes best when she's writing from a perspective other than her own. Also hot take but I hate little old me. Because all the things she sings ab....girl you ARE someone to fear, you're kinda a petty bully now. Blocking other artists, trying to sue person tracking her jet, Olivia Rodrigo stuff and just other shady behavior on her part. I am a swiftie but I just dont like who she's become. Evermore folklore and lover were my faves, and I even liked midnights and thought it deserved some grammys, even if not AOTY. But ttpd? If that wins grammys but Lana's ocean Blvd last year didnt, even tho ttpd jacks so much of her sound/style? And I'm not just talking production. Makes no sense I just appreciate balanced swifties. I can't talk to fellow fans sometimes without them becoming feral. I love lana too and yet believe me I critique her. Taylor isn't exempt
@ I agree with a lot of what you’re saying, however some of the “bullying” behavior is kind of necessary for her safety. I’m not talking about dropping signed albums in the UK to block charli, that was fúcked, but the private jet person was sued because her location wasn’t delayed at all and tracked her in real time, leading to things like jack antonoff’s wedding being crashed by paparazzi. I dont like her flying private at all but I think there isn’t a much better way to go about it with how things are in celebrity culture
@@faith-o8w3jI assumed little old me was kind of self aware - like she’s being serious when she tells you to be afraid of her bcs she KNOWS the power she has, she just doesn’t like how she is portrayed because of it. To me it felt more like ‘you should be scared of me, but not for the reasons you think’
Honestly I don’t get excited anymore when Taylor Swift wins a Grammy because it’s just so expected now. Maybe I’ll be wrong this time around because I just don’t think her recent album is that good.. at least not in comparison to other stuff that has been released this year.
Yeah, but it's not like the song was made with AI. They used AI to isolate the vocals, which is part of the production process. It's not the same as AI automated songs. This is an example of a positive use of AI for assisting (not creating) creativity.
still cringe and not creative at all imo, i get why they did it but idk it still is just weird to me. imagine linkin park used chester’s AI vocals on a new song, it feels exploitive in ways. this is just a critique tho, im not here to say ari should of gotten that place. personally, i think neither of them should of.
@@sybill123ful but the point is that it wasn't AI vocals. the way you frame it, it sounds like the vocals were AI generated and they weren't. the vocals were factually sung my John Lennon and AI only helped remove background noises.
Being a massive Beatles fans I actually cried when I first watched and listened to Now & Then (I just watched it again and got a bit teary). It's a great song. I love that the video is basically a slightly better quality version of those fan-made music videos from early TH-cam. It's absolutely cringey but also beautiful. I 100% despise the version of generative AI which is destroying creative industries, but this is an example of an AI tool being used to do something a human literally couldn't do. I really hope its not going to be used as an excuse for generative AI to become more prominent in creative industries cus that is just not the same thing!
Here's my take: 1. Ariana has set the bar for herself very high, any future album has to have the same impact as Thank u, next otherwise it's not going to get the same Grammy acclaim. 2. The noise around Wicked has FAR surpassed any impact felt by Eternal Sunshine. Eternal Sunshine came out at the same time as the Wicked first looks / teasers
She released Postions after thank you next which was also shut out of big categories. Ariana being shut out of big categories isnt the exception. It’s the norm. She’s never been a Grammy darling like Swift or Eillish. I don’t get why her fans pretend that she is.
Tbf it isn't just that the Grammys award the most technically good over most popular either. There's a bunch of genre bias, music industry taste bias and bias about how the artist is seen too. Like Adele won over Beyonce and even Adele disagreed with it, her album was more popular/successful but i dont think it was technically better than Beyonce's. Or Shape Of You winning over Kesha's Praying. Black artists often struggle in main catogories because of how the voting works. You have artists who are critical darlings like Lana, Bjork and PJ Harvey who have never won a Grammy. Anyway i hope they don't give it to Jacob Collier his music is awful.
no shade to Arianna, she just got lost in the shuffle of the most dominant year for female pop artists in a decade - the rise of Chappel and Sabrina, Billie delivering another stellar project, Charli capturing the cultural zeitgeist for 4 months solid, Beyonce being Beyonce and Taylor being overrewarded for weak work as per like...a less competitive year and it would have been better for her
honestly don’t agree. grammys doesn’t really have anything to do with popularity and what made it thru the shuffle. it’s about how good the body of work is.
@@wet_jojo1015 the comment you're replying to doesn't call Beyonce weak! it says "Beyonce being Beyonce" and adds "Taylor being overrewarded for weak work" unrelated to the Beyonce part.
I really disagree with people saying that ariana was “snubbed”, and acting like the grammys don’t recognize her artistry and talent. She still got **3 nominations** including Best Pop Vocal Album, a category that only has 5 slots. So it’s not like eternal sunshine wasn’t recognized at all!
Yeah I’m only expecting it to win Best Dance/Electronic Album. Can’t wait for her fans (and honestly any artist that loses’s fanbase) to drag everyone else.
Mic the snare has great videos about the grammysa andd how it works and how flawed it is . I’d recommend watching those to get a better understanding of this system
In addition to every other snub: The members of BTS who released solo albums this past year. All those albums were very good. If you haven't given a listen to any of them, I recommend checking them out. Musically, technically, concept-wise, they are creative and enjoyable. None of them were probably not even looked at by the Grammys either. Which is sad. Tbh I also think there is some anti-Asian racism going on with the Grammys and other big American music companies and organizations. I am just adding to the snub list here.
I vaguely remember my kpop fan friend saying that bts refuses to preform at the Grammys because they are perfectly happy using them for views but never let them win/be nominated. I think it’s because it’s non-white foreign music.
@ Yeah I don’t blame them for refusing to perform there again. But the funny thing is, the solo albums were mostly in English. Jimin’s album “Who” was in English and Jungkook’s “Golden” was all in English too. It’s not “foreign” in that way. They did well commercially and critically. But I guess since people still will associate them with speaking and singing in Korean they get ignored? Kinda prejudiced and ignorant on the public’s part…
So many people are saying 'well i didn't hear about eternal sunshine this year so that's why it didn't get nominated' like have you heard of jacob collier's and andre 3000's albums or even now and then??? it's not a popularity contest, it's rigged on whoever the academy likes. Jon batiste won album of the year in 2022 and literally no one knew or cared about the album even today. Certain artists like HER, jon batiste, jacob collier, beyonce, taylor, billie, etc are just overawarded by the Grammys just because they're industry darlings
Ohhh, the Grammys… They usually have their darlings. Being nominated is definitely cool, but I never expect any wins for my faves, so I can’t be disappointed. That being said, I’m also theoretically fine with Ari (and Dua) getting snubbed, but what’s frustrating is that they would never dare to leave out those said darlings out of the nominations. You can fill the gap as to who that might apply to.
Was on that stream and had a fun time in a fugue state with you, Brian and your family in chat. We are united in mania and a hearty discussion of cheese.
As a professional musician who has been doing studio/session work since I was a teen, I find it hard to believe that the way they used AI for this song is much different from many other softwares we use, like pitch-correction (auto-tune). There is still a human being making the music, even if the tools are on a computer, or if the vocal lines were isolated through AI. Just my two cents!
The album was forgettable and bland, soulless and unseasoned. It was literally brat summer. Happy to see other artists that have been in the game working hard and making better music get the recognition they deserve. Ariana's just used to being praised for every little thing, but she's lost her touch a long time ago. The grammy's are the least of her worries, that lady literally looks on the verge of death and has been using the Wicked promo tour as the "Ariana Grande eating disorder tour". Like please, she does not care about the music, just the obsession. People are beyond ready to move on, we've been craving fresh energy. Miss ponytail can join Katy Perry as a legacy act that was good ten years ago.
She wanted to come back with her iconic pickme homewrecker energy but it was tired at that point despite fans defending her Spongeboy. Now she's cosplaying a mature and enlightened person for the movie. It's like a completely different identity, the new songs do not show growth but her interviews are interesting. yall keep talking about “competition” and that the year was “stacked”…. yeah stacked with mid music. despite everyone releasing this year, i can count on one hand artists that released a better song than we can’t be friends, or a better album than eternal sunshine. the only real competition in terms of good music were sabrina, chappell roan and billie.
A bigger issue with The Beatles' nominated song, is that John Lennon's parts were recorded in the 1970's, and George Harrison's in the 1990's. That should go against nomination rules. Usually, if a song is more than five years old, it shouldn't qualify. But, I guess it counts, because the 1970's and 1990's parts of the song were never officially released, before last Nov. This almost always happens to Ariana Grande with the big Grammy categories. She usually only gets the Best Pop Album nomination, but not Album, Song or Record of the year. "Thank U, Next" was the exception. It's too bad, because I think 'Eternal Sunshine" is as good or better than the eight albums up for consideration for Album Of The Year.
I don't think Ari is ever going to get another major category nomination since they did not let her perform 7 rings that one year and made her sing a medley instead which pissed her off (rightfully so). Same way they kinda blacklisted Mariah and The Weekend who are all better than an outdated award show
I think Ariana’s nomination make sense for her. I wouldn’t give her AOTY either because.. she didn’t really do much with the album. It’s an amazing album, one of her best, but it didn’t make itself known. Take ROTY for example. It can’t be ROTY if it’s not talked about through the entire year. That did not happen for Eternal Sunshine. ES is Ariana’s least promoted album
Also, why are people so adamant on the fact that the Grammy's are strictly objective?? They have a history of actively singling out certain artists based on their relationship with them. That is NOT objective.

As an artist, it would be cool if I one day win a Grammy, but that’s not one of my lifelong goals, seeing as to how biased they are.
I feel like releasing "yes and" after the whole ethan drama kinda killed it for some people. Also some people might not like it or think it is mid.
yes and took the bullet for the album. People needed her to release something so they can take their frustration on wich eventually was yes and. So when the album came out people forgot about the drama and focused on the art
@@fawzinazih6817 not really
Recoding Academy voters don’t care about Ethan 🙄 they just aren’t huge Ariana fans. They never have been. That’s why they’ve given her so few Grammys over the years
i dont like yes esp as a lead single but the grammys have always been kinda snubbing ariana

The music was good and that's all that should matter
I liked eternal sunshine but I feel like it’s cultural impact had more to do with the controversy surrounding it than the actual music
I can see that tbh
I feel the same way, like the sings were good. But all I remember was the scandal about it, not really the songs.
I also think that with wicked and even REM beauty she wasn’t really completely devoted to the album…
idk about that the songs themselves had a few viral moments.
I feel the same way, which sucks because I consider it one of her best albums since Sweetener.
I'm here for all the girlies but my man Hozier always getting snubbed will never not enrage me. Too Sweet should've been nominated for song of the year.
I love that song
I do agree with this
This year Gojira received nomination in best metal perfomance cathegory and it costed opening show on literal Olipics for Grammys to notice that Europe (and other continents as well) also have a music and this a short story of what I thinking about all those awards...
I don't think people have the Grammys dictate what music they should like, but this constant anger of "my favorite artist didn't win X award" makes me question why they care
am I the only one who thinks it's actually good that the Grammy's sometimes reward less popular artists for their high technical proficiency? like... the most famous artists are kind of the ones who don't need the exposure and sometimes less famous artists are just really really good and they deserve to be honored for that.
absolutely agree. if awards would only reward commercial success then we wouldn't need them because the commercial success already is the reward.
It’s just never been about the music
They also already have the billboard awards for popular songs too. So why not be more critical and examine songs all down the charts?
Yeah but taylor wins loads of stuff every year and ariana has barely any grammys
I say that as a swiftie and an arianator. Ariana has been consistently robbed 😭
8:23 Beck is the guy who “In the time of chimpanzees (he) was a monkey.”
i really don’t think she was snubbed, i just think she had more competition this year, the new girls were WORKINGGGGG and so was ariana but on wicked
I’m the most mad at the Megan snubs tbh. She had a great year!!!!!! She’s at the top of her game!
Yes!!!!! So mad for my girl megan, she deserves some flowers 💐
honestly.. Megan's already won. She's tied to names like Jay Z.. so I don't even think it bothers her but yeah, could've gotten a nomination but she will be in spotlight after a year or two ❤

As a casual, I completely forgot that Ariana Grande made an album this year along with Tswift!
As a Beatles fan who hates AI, I’m deeply conflicted,
Didn’t even know that Ariana album existed, huh
We call it the scammys for a reason
Okay, but we, as a society, should talk so much more about Hozier. That man is an artist and a poet.
I didn't even KNOW ariana released a new album??
“We ain’t got no Grammys 🎶 fuck the Grammys 🎵”
Tortured Poets is not good and it should not have even been nominated.
Led Zeppelin never got a grammy until the lifetime achievement. Grammys, in the long scheme of things, don’t or at least shouldn’t matter.
megan thee stallion being snubbed after her incredible year is actually insane.

I feel like I’m also on repeat but those Ari stands are gonna be mad when they watch Wicked and Glinda starts off as a mean girl
Yeah especially if they haven’t watched the actual show itself
everyone knows how Glinda is though?
why would we be mad lmao
I know basically nothing bout Ariana or her fans, but I do know Wicked, why would they be mad about a CHARCTER?
Watch them say the Oscars are sexist if she doesn’t get a nomination for her role.
I agree!
appreciate the callout to Hozier, im really dissapointed he didnt get any nominations, its my belief that hes one of the greatest talents of our century.
honestly thought this year's grammys noms would be much more offensive with how packed this year was.
Hozier was snubbed so hard, i need him to be so famous idc
She was snubbed period she deserved at least a nomination for aoty. People are acting like her music wasn’t everywhere in the spring. Ofc the hype has died down a little since it came out 8 months ago, but she deserved credit where credit was due. It’s exhausting as an arianator because she’s always getting snubbed and there’s always a lame excuse for it.
And when the world needed her most, Kayla Says returned
Good that Ari got snubbed like she snubbed Elvira
@ It wasn’t average in a bad way. It was a good cohesive album but it just didn’t make noise like the other pop albums did.
@ It is. Because how popular a pop album is is what is fresh in the voters minds.
We promise, we’ll like her again.
Until then, she can wait for our love.
I’ll see myself out.
Context is king! 😤
@ okay
I hate this term. to say ariana was 'snubbed' is to discredit everyone that was nominated.
Ariana Grande Butera did mention about award show ten years ago.
Ariana Grande Butera said,"What is the point of winning the award if there is no appreciation from the public."
Look what happen to the late voice singer Whitney Houston who is so rich and successfully won so many awards but failed to search or create her own happiness inside herself.
Kinda related but, as a Chappell Roan fan I couldn't care less about if she wins any Grammys, the fact that she's even nominated is something to celebrate🎉🎉🎉
All these people that use metrics like awards and streams to say art is objectively the best really need to get into sports
I fear Ari didnt have a song on the album that shifted the conversation or culture…
Yes And? Was shock value at best and a poor man’s Madonna B Side record from the 80s
We Cant Be Friends was… nice!
The video feels like a rehash of Rihanna’s We Found Love..
The Boy Is Mine is only good as a remix..
Mariah Carey is the best example of how stupid the grammys are and how meaningless their rewards actually are. Only 5 wins, and yet has 19 number 1's on billboard.
charli xcx, zayn, alessia cara, howard shore, hans zimmer , ludwig goransson, bring me the horizon, the weeknd are all amazing

@@user-mz2ne4yh2teven if you ignore commercial success, the grammys doesnt award talent either. Most of the people who win are compliant and suck up to the producers in the industry. Those who don't tolerate mistreatment are blacklisted
definitely snubbed but i just hate the way so many arianators are blaming other artists (esp taylor) for the snub instead of the actual academy.
tbh I just feel like eternal sunshine didn't have the cultural impact people think it did & that's why it didn't get nominated in the big categories. i'm more annoyed megan thee stallion didn't get nominated for anything at least ariana has three nominations.
Same could be said about Eternal Sunshine tbh. The singles are strong but everything else...no.
Makes no sense
I just appreciate balanced swifties.

I didn't care for her new one or midnight last year her music is getting to dark and boring
People gotta start taking Grammy snubs as new music suggestions because they snub the best.
That's why they are called snubs in the first place 😂
Being a massive Beatles fans I actually cried when I first watched and listened to Now & Then (I just watched it again and got a bit teary). It's a great song. I love that the video is basically a slightly better quality version of those fan-made music videos from early TH-cam. It's absolutely cringey but also beautiful. I 100% despise the version of generative AI which is destroying creative industries, but this is an example of an AI tool being used to do something a human literally couldn't do. I really hope its not going to be used as an excuse for generative AI to become more prominent in creative industries cus that is just not the same thing!
The fact that that tik tok song “kehlani” got nominated for alt r&b and not a single tinashe song….
Here's my take:
What do you mean “same Grammy acclaim” if you’re talking nominations sure-but she lost all of them with thank u next to Billie at the time too
She released Postions after thank you next which was also shut out of big categories.
Anyway i hope they don't give it to Jacob Collier his music is awful.
no shade to Arianna, she just got lost in the shuffle of the most dominant year for female pop artists in a decade - the rise of Chappel and Sabrina, Billie delivering another stellar project, Charli capturing the cultural zeitgeist for 4 months solid, Beyonce being Beyonce and Taylor being overrewarded for weak work as per like...a less competitive year and it would have been better for her
agreed w this besides beyoncé’s work being considered weak unlike taylor she has the critical acclaim to back up her work 😭
this!!!! she just got lost in the mix being so focused on wicked it gave so many other artists an opportunity to get to the top!
honestly don’t agree. grammys doesn’t really have anything to do with popularity and what made it thru the shuffle. it’s about how good the body of work is.

So it’s not like eternal sunshine wasn’t recognized at all!

if she doesn’t win i’m fine with that, 9 nominations is insane in itself
people already been annoyed with it i fear its not gonna do much noise. But critics will be speaking out
Yeah I’m only expecting it to win Best Dance/Electronic Album. Can’t wait for her fans (and honestly any artist that loses’s fanbase) to drag everyone else.
I understand why artists care about awards. I don't get why fans care so much.

@1.57, would it help if I also announced that I didn't like the new T Swift album too? I liked, "loml", and "I can fix him". That's about it.

Certain artists like HER, jon batiste, jacob collier, beyonce, taylor, billie, etc are just overawarded by the Grammys just because they're industry darlings
Literally, such a lame excuse.
All I can say Taylor Swift doesn't deserve to even be NOMINATED for that shit album.

Where Katy Perry , Lana Del Rey , Nicky , BTS , LISA , Sia , Ariana Grande , and Dua lipa ? These should be in the list of Grammy
Katy Perry has one of the worst albums I’ve ever heard
Hey! I'll have you know that my dog is an EXCELLENT chess player. In fact, she's internationally ranked.
regardless Ariana still has the best voice and hits those beautiful high notes 👏
I'm so glad Willow was nominated. Love her stuff❤️
(obviously she and Ariana deserve best album or song nominees too but I'm happy they are a part of it)
Thank you for giving us some normalcy rn queen
As a professional musician who has been doing studio/session work since I was a teen, I find it hard to believe that the way they used AI for this song is much different from many other softwares we use, like pitch-correction (auto-tune). There is still a human being making the music, even if the tools are on a computer, or if the vocal lines were isolated through AI. Just my two cents!
I honestly forgot that Ariana released
Then you remember she goes through taken men like Starbucks iced black coffees.
@@magnetsforbreakfast oh my god this is horrendous this is definitely rage bait
@@magnetsforbreakfastyou’re a genuinely nasty and disgusting person. a “legacy act” yet we cant be friends just reached 1 billion streams in 9 months?? sure girl. whatever world ur living in sounds miserable
These repetitive hate train comments are getting old 🥱 try something original next time pls
I only barely follow modern pop music, but I did stumble over brat, billie, sabrina and chappell.
Ariana on the other hand has been non existent in my cosmos. I didn't hear her stuff on the radio, I didn't see anyone really talking about it and it seemed like it had zero cultural impact. The only ari related news I heard about were her wicked movie and the affair with that red haired dude.
Ariana simply got overshadowed by the other major pop artists. That's something ari fans don't want to hear though
Idk what pop radio you were listening to, because her songs were all over that, and when it came it was trending all over social media.
if you’ve never heard of we can’t be friends or even yes and then i don’t know what to tell you
to be fair her dumb team pulls songs 2-3 months after the yrelease then they go recurrent and leave the hot 100. this has been an issue with ariana's team for so long
@@AGEE_95 only we cant be friends was on the radio, i speak from non-american perspective + SM shows you more of the stuff you like so its easy for a stan to think something is big while actually its the algorithm pushing on you more of the stuff you already liked
@@ivywt yes and was called an elevator music a lot, the charts were cheated w releasing multiple versions of it and the horrible remix where their voices clash in a very unpleasant way
She wasnt snubbed. Just because her name is Ariana grande doesnt mean she's deserving. Outside her fan base, there was nothing to connect with. It just wasnt a good album.
Also, worth noting this also isnt a controversial issue that is noticed outside her fanbase either.
It was a good album her best till date but it wasn’t anything out of the box compared the other albums nominated in the category. It didnt had any impact other than in her fanbase but she should ve been nominated for we cant be friends
@@EricDangol agreed, i dont think it should win aoty but i think it should at least be nominated. we cant be friends was amazing & the video was rly good tho
eternal sunshine is good but not grammy materials, only nice vocals and production; The lyrics were bland
personally i like when less known artist like Beck or Jacob Collier wins, because it's the only ceremony where they can get something for their art. your faves are already getting their VMAs, BETs etc, let the others shine !!
also people need to understand that commercial succes doesn't equal quality
you did not just call Beck a "lesser known artist"
@@tommaso6392 compared to the likes of Beyoncé etc, he is obviously less known, don't try it
in my humble opinion, you are the deserved people princess, i mean this in a “guys please think twice & educate yourselves before speaking” way
Who gives a fuck? Remember that statement against Lana Del Rey???
Ignorance is bliss, the Grammys are corrupt.
yall keep talking about “competition” and that the year was “stacked”…. yeah stacked with mid music. despite everyone releasing this year, i can count on one hand artists that released a better song than we can’t be friends, or a better album than eternal sunshine. the only real competition in terms of good music were sabrina, chappell roan and billie.
It's too bad, because I think 'Eternal Sunshine" is as good or better than the eight albums up for consideration for Album Of The Year.
acting like ten drunk cigarettes got nominated dont piss me OFF
I don't think Ari is ever going to get another major category nomination since they did not let her perform 7 rings that one year and made her sing a medley instead which pissed her off (rightfully so).
Zero cultural impact. Zero narrative. Not memorable or unique.
