This is an excellent recap of an historic Apple desktop computer system. Back in the day, I hated the colorful CRT iMac's, then feel in love with the white 20-inch G4 iMac, white 20-inch G5 iMac, and white 24-inch iMac systems, the first silver version was a major change but, I did like the all black color on the black of the 24-inch IMac, when the DVD super-drive was removed felt this desktop model had turned into a joke because, I now had to add externally devices to get back what used to be included in the All-in-One design and lastly, the all black design of the iMac Pro was pretty cool and hip with its matching black keyboard, track pad, and mouse.
I built a gaming PC in 2019. Cases don’t even have CD ROM drive bays anymore. No one really uses CDs. PC games are all downloads, the boxed versions at stores are just downloaded codes. USB thumb drives are also a thing of the past. Documents can be sent easily via email, large files can be stored in the cloud. Imagine having all your data on a thumb drive and it’s lost. Printers are wireless, internet is wireless, many devices can be connected via Bluetooth or even WiFi such as DSLR and Action Cameras. The only thing that you would need to plug in is high speed storage or secondary display. Thunder Bolt/USB 4.0 support means the fastest IO is on iMac.
@@JasonB808 I completely agree the future is the use of less not more physical storage devices for data, operating systems, and program applications. Have been around long enough to see this happen over and over again. Apple removed the internal floppy drive with the first colorful CRT iMac's, then removed internal Zip drives, next they removed the Fire-wire 400 port followed with the removal of the Fire-wire 800 port, next they removed their internal DVD super-drive, afterward they removed the IR reader which, supported their white remote control, and now say "good bye" to the USB "A" port. If, I was just starting my career after college these new colorful iMac's would be just as much fun to me as my first Apple computer was.
