    Manny I pray you have the time to produce more content for this channel because you are so articulate and clear with your instructions. You must be a busy man but whenever you have the time, I’ll be here for your next tutorial because you are an amazing teacher.

      Thank you for your kind words! Unfortunately you are correct, I don’t have the time to put up as many videos as I would like. Whenever I do it’s usually covers, I really don’t consider myself much of a teacher but there is an advantage to being able to re-record a video til you get it right! 😅 Also, I feel this is the only real unique thing I have to teach on uke, all the other stuff is covered in so many other tutorial vids that I feel I really have nothing new to contribute. But I’m glad this particular one was of use to you!

      mourningcrows I know other ukulele tutorials cover many things but it’s your way of speaking and teaching that really gets to me. I wouldn’t mind if you post something 10 other tutorials have posted because I can understand you far more clearly.

    I started to watch and thought, “This is impossible for me,” and almost quit. But I kept watching as he broke it down into easily understandable parts and I changed my mind. 😏 I still can’t do it .... yet. But now I’m pretty sure I can learn it! Given the chords I’m glad I still have my baritone uke and a “low G” tenor. The mark of a truly gifted teacher is that he/she can reach the not so talented student. So I’ve made this my Fall challenge. MikeinMinnesota

    its a really cool strumm! But why are you playing it behind the sound hole since it can be played at the normal strumming position above the soundhole aswell?!

    • @mourningcrows
      @mourningcrows  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Excellent question! When I play tenor I do usually play over the sound hole. This being a baritone and a bigger body, I tend to play it more like a guitar. 25+ years of guitar playing and some habits are hard to break lol, but also due to the percussive tap on the 5 on the lower bout under the bridge area, it’s less of a stretch and more efficient strumming. Again, referring to the bigger body of the baritone. On tenor, concert, and soprano this is not really an issue.

    • @mourningcrows

      Hello! It’s a Cocobolo Baritone. As far as recommendations I guess a ukulele with a brighter tone since most flamenco guitars tend to sound bright and “snappy”. I hope that helps.

    For the last part to do the index strum + the ring finger tap at the same time a good way to help you reach that is to think of the ring finger as doing a small downwards strum also but at a very very downwards angle like as if u are going to drill a hole into the body, so strum only with ur ring finger the last 2 strings and have the goal of reaching the body to hit the body. Practice that then add the index for the full strum and do them together.
    Basically dont just raise ur ring finger from the air straight down to tap, no use the last string like a spring and push down and it will u to the board for the tap.
    So rest ur ring finger on the last string, but ur nails touching the string, and then press on it and it will slide u to the bidy, so use that motion to generate the tap, and that is easier because ur index finger is doing a downwards motion so its easier wen ur ring finger is also doin a downards motion. And jus practice alot it will come

      No freaking way! Yes! That’s baritone #4! OMG I hope you love it as much as I did! The only reason I sold it was because I didn’t like having a radiused fretboard. But rest assured it was VERY much loved! How long have you had it?

    • @thomassweeney7460
      @thomassweeney7460 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mourningcrows saw it on Reverb from Guitar Tx in San Antonio, in March, - I was going there for vacation the next day, they still had it - I snatched it up - sounds great, the fretboard is more radiused than I’m used to, I re-shaped the bridge saddle to get even string height, and a radiused Shubb capo - if I ever have it re-fretted I might ask they level the fretboard a bit - it’s now residing in a heated and humidified room in Minneapolis - trying to convince it it’s still Texas 😊
