Luffy’s scar context was shown in the first chapter on the first page of the manga. The difference between first episode and chapter are soo different from each other. Also Zoro’s fight with Mr. 7 was an off-screen fight. In Whiskey Peak, Zoro told the Baroque Works people that he was invited back then but he turned it down. Mr. 7 was the guy that invited him.

I'm surprised how well it turned out to be... I usually have low expectations about live action, but it was kinda hyped up so... that definitely affected me and I was looking into it and my expectations increased a lot. And still surpassed my expectations.
Fam I was thinking the same thing I called one of my old one piece friend and told him it's good he ran to Netflix instantly because he knows once I’v said its good he knows it's good the bar was pretty low for me but it blew my expectations to the moon
To be honest, the live-action adaptation is much more closely related to the author( Eiichiro Oda)'s original than the animated version, so it can be confusing for newcomers who haven't caught up or haven't read the manga yet.
That’s likely why they showed Zeff losing his leg differently, as well. Probably omitted Luffy stabbing himself for the same reason. Even back then, self-harm in a “kids show”, was probably seen as going too far.
I watched the show without knowing anything, I’ve never really read mangas and have only watched a few anime’s. It was so amazing, like as I was watching my family kept passing by and all 8 of us ended up just binging the whole thing in a day together. And we were all hooked saying we need a season 2. It got us to even check the one piece anime and my cousin started reading the mangas and I started watching the anime, the number of episodes didn’t even scare me cause I’m so excited.

In case no one said here and you guys read this the actor for Zoro is irl a 2 sword style samurai. Also, Crocodile says in the anime that they tried to recruit Zoro in the past but he killed Mr 7 on Sixis and that's something we never actually seen
This live action was VERY good it did stray a little bit off path like most battles being in the night up until syrup village (ep4 where i'm at right now) but it's still very good. Buggy did get hoed by arlong tho..

I honestly hate live action renditions and was refusing to watch it until I saw the recent trailer only a few days ago. I’m actually so excited and happy to see mostly positive reviews
As for the overall rating, clearly below 8, I will give it 7.5 if I'm not in a good mood and probably 7.9 if I'm in a good mood, and one of the causes of that rating is the lack of fighting skills and short-time fighting scenes like in the anime, and very average to poor CGI for fighting scenes. As for the plot and story, easily above 9, I will give it 9.15 for most. After all, One Piece in the anime built its hype because of its good fighting scenes.
so in the first few chapters of the manga right after luffy leaves home he almost immediately gets caught in giant whirlpool and ends up getting stuck in the barrel. he then washes up on the shore of Alveda's pirate base, not ship, base, and that is where the fight actually takes place in canon. both the anime and this changed it which is fine it never really matter where they fought.
@@levinkeluargapolca no no im not knocking it. I perfectly happy with how they did it. I was just pointing out the manga way he got into the barrel and where he met koby. Thats all. I too perfer it happening on her ship.
It was so good! Ngl, I wasn't even waiting for this adaptation, until the second to the last trailer dropped. Unfortunately it got me a little hyped, but the show delivered! One downside, as someone in the other reaction pointed out, the way they dropped all episodes at once can be such a wasted opportunity... People would be talking about it for much longer if it was stretched through multiple weeks. And I'm afraid that the one day fire / hype will be quickly put out.

my friends, love the reactions since jojo, but just a friendly reminder about why it's never right to say that Akainu or any other marine is just "doing their job" : all the ways that the World Government use to "take care" of the seas are pure fascism, just like we can see happening in real life, because unfortunately, it didn't ended with the deaths of Mussolini and Hitler, justo got more subtle and worse. Akainu is not bad just because he did shit to innocent because of his hatred to piracy, but mainly because that's how the system consciously wants, and need to, create soldiers/supporters: by molding in someone a worldview that sees only "the absolute justice", only believes in the cultural, economic, and social views ENDORSED by the W.Gov. As more we study the stories of the struggles in african and latin-american countries, and it's battles/revolutions... we see, just like in One Piece, that the history we've been taught is all biased in the rights of the opressor, not the opressed, and how modern fascism, is just redesigned colonialism. Never ended. Not the mention, the first time Akainu appears, it's by bombing civilians and erasing the truths of history, because he wanted to "to do his jobs as best as possible".
