I'm very glad you started this series on your 06 9-3 2.0t auto. I have the exact same car and your videos are exactly what I need to get her road Worthy again! Please continue to make as many videos as you can on this car!
WIS (online Saab maintenance manual) says to check the fluid level while the car is running. I missed that the first time and I checked while the car was cold and off. My dipstick showed that it was overfilled a bit past the hot marker so I drained some fluid out. This caused my car to shift poorly and with some noise. After adding back the fluid I drained out and checking the dipstick while the car was running (but not warm, just running a minute or so after being off all night) the dipstick showed just above the cold marker so pretty much perfect, and my car is now shifting better with the new fluid and the proper amount!
You can also measure the amount of trans fluid you removed from your car and replace the same amount with the new oil. I changed the oil twice, the first time then i ran the car on the road for 20 mins then changed it a second time so it diluted the oil that was left in the trans leaving a much cleaner oil in the transmission.
@@stevepurcell5883 It's irrelevant. You add what you repace. If it's low after you do this cycle three times you can top off to the full hot line on the dipstick.
Yeah...the dipstick placement is straight wonky. Needing 2' of extentions will be me using 4 6" extensions 😅. Love your shadetree mechanic tube tied to the extension. Thanks for the video, dude!
Possibly use a magnetic drain plug ?? I would like to know about the drain plug for my own Saab I've done the first change of my transmission fluid! With Toyota TYPE |-V
On The Workbench the car is really wonderful although no new spare part available locally even with x agent where I live, so I’m surviving by used parts from junk yards & this is my first Saab ❤️
Might want to try getting that rusty subframe sanded and painted if you havent already, preventative maintenance so you dont get a rotted subframe like i did!
@@bikerworld4712Google rust conversion/inhibitor paint. Pick your brand. It's amazing. I've used it and it does halt rust. Can't remember the brands I have used but they've always worked for me.
Do you think you could replace the drain plug with one with a magnet in it I've seen some aftermarket but I don't know if they would fit on a Saab I figured this would give it a bit of a filter
The power steering pump & reservoir need to have the seals changed. its dripping like crazy and most likely you have the engine oil mixed with the power steering fluid. the trans dip stick area is very oily due to that power steering leakage as well
How did you get that tube back in the fill hole? Seems like that would be very difficult just having it zip tied to the extension and trying to get it all the way down into that tiny hole that is really obscured on my 9-3 by other engine parts.
What I do now to keep it simpler is I just take off the dipstick I siphon the fluid with the pump measure that use a pump to fill it right back up drive and repeat. I found it to be much easier I don't have to lift the car up I don't have to take off the drain plug and I don't get no mess.

What if you have a minor leak

Now Amsoil has flex packs for trans fluid. I just purchased 6.

I don’t know how to thank you 🙏🏼 for this video , big help just bought a used 2008 Saab 9-3 need to check transmission oil level - really appreciate
I hope you enjoy the car!

@@OnTheWorkbench how many liters should go to the transmission
@@migueltenorio2012 You must catch all the fluid and measure it, then put same amount taken out. Then use the dipstick to measure precisely.
If I can ask, what size does the washer need to be to replace on the sump plug please
What is the dimension of the aluminum washer for the drain plug?
That was a good vídeo about this task. Question. It was not necessary to replace the tranny filter..?? or it doesn't have one..??
Well done, good technique.
Thanks!
thanks, how many litres do you need please

My owners manual mentions cleaning the filter when changing the ATF. Any idea where the filter is located and how it should be cleaned?
There is no filter in it that you can change, as far as I know
Could you do a change using an oil extractor via the dip stick?
Having done this today i must say that the hardest part is when you are all done an about to screw in the dipstick, man it's a pain.
Yes, indeed!
any chance to get a complete transmission fluid flush procedure?
Just repeat the drain process. Shift from Park to Drive. Before going on a 10min drive. Drain fluid > fill fluid repeat process.
Ia this fluid good for saab 9-3 2008 1.9 tid vector sport?
Hi how do you change the trans filter saab 9-3
the filter is not replaced
this is a pain in the ass to do on my convertible because of all the cross bars haha
What about the filter?
Great video! Thanks for posting! What specific type of ATF is needed for this car?
Saab 3309, It's called Type T-IV, I believe
I shopped around and bought a case of Toyota type |-v it was cheapest and most legit. And I could just go to Monro Muffler and buy a case in my area

Where did you find the magnetic adapter 3/8-inch drive?
What size is the magnetic adapter?
Might be easier to put a part list in the description just a suggestion
Is there a dip stick on a 2004 Saab linear 93
Yes
Would u recommend changing the fluid??? My saab has 69000 miles i want to change it before the miles go higher but dont want problems
Yes, i changed mine around the same mileage as your car and it shifted better after. I would change every 20,000 after first change.
I found thar pex pipe works well to fill the transmission
Perfect! Just the idea I was looking for, thx
Damn. Can't get the drain plug right now.
how about the filter? shouldn’t be a filter that need to be changed same time with the oil ?
Unfortunately there is not a serviceable filter on the transmission :(
except the dipstick is there any level plug in the left side for better check of quantity?
Dipstick is the best (only?) way to check the level of transmission fluid.
@@snwdn there are a lot of cars don't have dipstick

Can you do a blend door actuator replacement?
For the heating and cooling assembly
If/when I need to replace it on my car I'll make a video.
How did you get that tube back in the fill hole? Seems like that would be very difficult just having it zip tied to the extension and trying to get it all the way down into that tiny hole that is really obscured on my 9-3 by other engine parts.
When I did this I went under the car and reached up to grab the tube and push it into the fill hole.

Horrible rust damage at 7:40 yikes!
Looks fine to me
if it's after 2002 it aint a saab, put the year in the title.
