There is a LOT of Love for Kingdom Hearts in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, lets check out the references in Sora's Classic Route! Lets get past 1000 likes!
I think the referrences to Master Hand & Crazy Hand is like the gloves of Master Xehanort esp in wriggling his fingers in the BBS trailer & summoning the X-Blade in KH3.
Both Cloud and Sora should have they're classic mode last battle against Sephiroth, one on Final Destination (which has a transmission similar to the Safer Sephiroth battle) and the other on the Fire Emblem coliseum with One-Winged Angel for obvious reasons.
probably due to Disney, heck Sakurai only acknowledges Maleficent during his presentation, and Mickey Donald and Goofy weren't mentioned, and also when you fight Terra's spirit there's Ashley is to represent Maleficent
I think that the ganondorf fight is supposed to be a darkisde because of his size and also the music that plays is the music that always plays when you fight a darkside. Plus the stage could be referencing destiny island getting destroyed but I also see it being the keyblade graveyard. Other than that I completely agree with everything else
I don't see it being anything else, tbh My thought was that it was a Re:CoM or Re:Coded reference, though, since in both those Darkside fights, the field is a small island instead of the larger area in KH1
It could be that, however i like to believe it is vs ansem, like at the end of kh1. Ganondorf is ansem and the floating island is supposed to be the destroyed island.
With Sakurai making Sora floaty and having his KH3 artwork at the end of classic mode leads me to believe that Sakurai is not only saying " Stan Osaka!" But he's also saying "Kingdom Hearts 3 is actually good and fun!"
At first I thought the fight against metal Sora was a reference to the fight with Sora's Heartless in Re:Coded, but I could also see it being the Ventus fight in DDD
I still think the giant Ganondorf fight is a reference to the battle against Darkside. The cobbled floor from the "Find Mii" Stage could be the broken piece of Destiny Islands Sora is fighting Darkside on.
I was really hoping that Sephiroth would be the final boss, but they can't really use DLC fighters except for the one you're playing as. It would have been really cool though. That armored Ventus reference was genius imo
Indeed. The fact that people keep forgetting is that until the corresponding pack is bought, the fighter in question _does not actually exist_ in the game's data; and one can't exactly implement something that doesn't exist, now can they?
The way I understood stage 4 is that you're fighting Ventus, Aqua, and Terra in Land of Departure since little male Robin is small (like Ventus), medium female Robin is normal sized (like Aqua), and big male Robin represents Terra. The stained glass of Kalos league is very reminiscent of Land of Departure too, and their mix between sword and magic attacks makes me think this is what it was alluding to.
They did a good job, these references are pretty good. And seeing an adaptation of the KH3 Artwork pose at the end of the Classic Mode put a smile on my face.
Don’t forget that we got the gummi ship music for the credits, which is pretty perfect too, also definitely think that ganon is darkside, he’s a bit too big to be Xehanort in my opinion, plus the song and stage further compliment the darkside thing
I think they're more so non-specific Organization XIII members(Due to Robin's coat). Because Axel and Roxas are represented by Roy and Ultimate Sora, respectively.
I think it's more Vexen (normal m!Robin, because people _looks down on him_ despite his rank, thus a visual cue), Marluxia (large Robin, because tol people in charge is a common visual trope) and Larxene (female Robin, obviously). Also, Kalos Pokémon League represents Castle Oblivion, which is not really associated with Xion and _especially_ Roxas (the kid only entered the place once, and he barely went past the entrance door before blacking out at that). Also, I don't really Sakurai and co. would be recycling the same reference twice for the same pack
I think the master and crazy hands at the end of the classic route are in reference to the way master Xehanort moves his hands when casting spells. They're also white like his gloves!
It's a long stretch, but I like to believe the Master and Crazy Hands are a reference to the Master of Masters. A figure whose been pulling the strings from the background this whole time, and the hands names "Master" and "Crazy" both are descriptors that could apply to the MoM. With this in mind, it gets me hype for when the future arrives for us to face down against the Master in person
Valid af In every instance we see of MoM, his thought process is always out there and extremely unconventional, so its not out of the realm of possibility. We do know that he has his reasons for it, but they're hella crazy and unfathomable
Honestly, it kind of scares me when I remember that we haven't actually SEEN the Master of Masters fight anyone and he's supposedly the strongest Keyblade Master of all time. Considering some of the stuff that some other Keyblade Masters are able to do (mainly Xehanort and the Foretellers) it's honestly terrifying when you think of what's gonna happen when he DOES end up fighting someone. (Also, kinda hoping that in the next KH game where we play as Sora, there's a secret fight against MoM where you just find him, no words are spoken and he just summons a Keyblade and starts fighting with his theme playing in the background. He honestly doesn't need a unique battle theme, his own theme would work just as well for him in a boss fight)
My first thought was also that Giant Ganondorf was Master Xehanort but I actually think it's supposed to be Darkside. The platform does look like the Keyblade Graveyard, but given Ganondorf's size, the fact that Destiny's Force plays, and the fact that the stage ALSO looks very similar to the floating "island" thingy with the giant ball of darkness floating overhead from the Darkside fight when Destiny Islands is being destroyed, my conclusion was it's a reference to Darkside. I also wonder if the fight against Metal Sora could be Sora's Heartless from Coded, or even his "shadow" from KH1 that appeared in the intro (and turns into Darkside) and in Neverland.
the bigger G&W reminded me of Mega/Giga Shadow Heartless, and then the Giant Ganondorf reminded me of a Darkside more than Xehanort (tho I did think it was Xehanort at first lol) and then the Master/Crazy fight just fits that overall fight for balance between Light and Darkness (both hands being mass produced by Galeem and Dharkon in World of Light) And of course, the credits are the gummi ship sections of KH1
I think round 4 is meant to just be a general reference to Chain of Memories. The stage itself references castle oblivion and the Robins are all organization members. Especially since they would’ve used a stage closer to the location from the scene you mentioned instead of the Pokémon League stage.
My opinion on what they are Fight 1: I agree Fight 2: should be a reference to the Heartless before you fight Fight 3: Cloud and I agree Fight 4: I actually think they are Roxas, Axel and Xion as the big Robin does more fire moves and the boy and girl Robin’s who are smaller try to replicate Sora’s moveset with the magic and sword moves Fight 5: I agree Fight 6: kinda true cause if it really is then how come it isn’t the DDD Sora alt? Fight 7: hmm still mad they couldn’t chose anything else
I wish it wasn't Master and Crazy Hand as the final boss for Sora's classic route. They are just so repetitive to fight against over and over again, but his classic mode picture is just awesome.
The Hands could actually be a reference to the Dark Figure guardian that stays behind Ansem during your fight at the End of the World’s Destiny Islands in Kingdom Hearts! The arena looks like a broken up Destiny Islands. Dark Figure has huge hands that constantly grab at you and hit you, and it shoots out dark rings that hurt you (like how Master and Crazy Hands shoot gold rings at you). I feel confident that this is what that is a reference to, it’s just meant to be less obvious to get you really thinking.
You know, thats the kind of thigns I Love of Nintendo and Smash bros, they focus on all details. Games like MVC3 by Capcom has this details for their characters, for example: Dante´s double jump has the iconic sound, either Vergil Judgment cut has its characteristic sound, but Smash Bros focus a lot in this kind of things. That´s why many people got amused with Sora valor form pose. Greetings Pal from Mexico.
I like to jokingly think that the master hand and crazy hand represent Xehanort's gloves. Long story short, the final boss of Sora's route is a pair of gloves who just so happen to be owned by the main villain of Kingdom Hearts.
Fighting both Master & Crazy Hands could be referring to how Sora can defy the hand(s) of fate... Both within his own series, and the whole making it into Smash thing he did...
i thought the 3 robins were like the nobodies that you fight as roxas in dive to heart in kh2 I mean he is sora's nobody so it would make sense to be in sora's classic mode but could be anything else
The last fight against metal sora is also an awesome callback to smash 64s classic route end where you would fight metal mario in a similar aesthetic stage. Awesome that they brought it back for the last smash fighter.
I'm not sure if you already know this, but one last thing about Classic Mode I thought was cool is that when Sora is going through the credit shooter sequence, they use the Gummy Ship theme, as opposed to one of the more iconic songs like Simple and Clean, or Hollow Bastion.
I think the master and crazy hand does represent something. Light and darkness. Think back to the world of light. Galeem controlled the masters and dharkin controlled the crazies. The final fight is much like the world of light story and by some extention the keyblade war itself. A clash of light and darkness and conquering them both.
I believe that in the 2nd fight, the stage SkyWorld is a reference to the gates of Olympus where when trailers for kingdom hearts 3 first seen show this place a lot for fighting hordes of heartless
I agree with the first 3 However I think stage 4 is against wizard heartless in like an interior room of Hollow Bastion, looks a lot like the lift stops and stuff. Stage 5 is obviously Cloud at Olympus The ganondorf fight I think is a reference to fighting Darkside in KH1 when the island is torn apart, especially with the music As for the final one, with the dive to heart, I'm unsure, I don't think it's anything direct because they all seem to be KH1 references but yeah.
u could also argue that the Sora vs Sora fight at the Station of Awakening is a reference to his fight against Roxas, easily one of the hardest fights in the game, so it goes both ways ;3
I think that having Master and Crazy hand as the boss fight is kinda justified this time. I find poetic that the LAST smash fighter has to defeat the FIRST boss fight in smash history
I almost wondered if they decided to use the Master Hand fight, not as a reference to Kingdom Hearts, but more for a reference to the Sora Smash reveal trailer. Where when darkness came, everybody was changed back to the Figurines, but the light of Sora making them active again.
I personally think that the crazy and master hand fight at the end is a reference to xehanort since he does have gloves and is the final boss of kh3, hence why after you get the paopu fruit sora screenshot, representing the end of kh3 where everyone is at destiny islands.
I kinda saw fighting master hand and crazy hand as Sora fighting 'the hands of fate' Like the time traveling, bringing people back in exchange for his own life. So fighting fate. XD I dun know
At first I thought giant ganon was meant to represent darkside, but then I realized that if it were darkside they probably would’ve used a giant dark incineroar instead.
I feel like Dark Link and Dark Young Link could also be a nod to how Sora was turned into Heartless (a Shadow) and eventually developed his Dark or Anti form. Since it takes place in Hollow Bastion, Dark Young Link/Shadow Sora makes some sense.
I don't think I ever knew Nightmare Armor was Sora. And now thanks to you, I have the perfect idea for a super mode for KH3DS Sora. When thinking of a super mode system for smash, I was thinking Final form would be Sora's super mode. But some might say Final form is weaker than Ultimate form even though the former is a fusion. Thanks this revelation, I was thinking that Sora would have a different super mode depending on the costume. KH1/Timeless River: Shadow Sora KH2/Valor Form: Final form (or Master form for diversity) KH3DS/Wisdom Form: Nightmare armor KH3/Ultimate form: Double Form
Pretty sure the 3 robin fight is supposed to be ventus, roxas and xion which are all part of his own heart at some point, and the area looks like the dive to the heart area from kindom hearts which could connect it to all characters with sora
I'm going to take the Master and Crazy Hand fight as a nod to Guard Armor and Opposite Armor. They had other enemies at the end of the classic route they could have used like the giant robot or the dragon to be similar to Kurt Zisa or Maleficient. I mean they fit pretty well together in terms of bosses and as much as I would adore having the dragon to represent Maleficent, it's more fitting to have a boss who represents the heartless who are the mascot enemy of the franchise.
I honestly think the multiple Mr Game and Watches are a nod to Shadow's and Giga Shadow's found in Wonderland of KH1. True Giga Shadow's only show up there but I think it works.
3:10 i believe its not about the Xehanort/Xemnas fight. look again at the Mosaique looking stage, it looks like the intro where you choose your Class and also it reminds of the 3 hearts like Sora/Ventus/Roxas , this fight more likeli represents the heart of Sora itself
@HMK The Robins being Org13 at Castle Oblivion makes sense to me since there's 1 female Robin. And giant Ganondorf in the wasteland-looking level is definitely Darkside at Destiny Islands since the ground all broken up looks nearly the same.
The Hands are actually fitting for multiple reasons: A) They're a duality of order and chaos, much like how the balance between light and darkness is a pivotal plot point across the series; B) They're a pair, fighting side by side, making each other stronger. That's exactly what Sora's philosophy is all about; if his friends are his power, who else would be his final opponent than two brothers-in-arms (pun intended)? C) White gloves are a signature of Disney characters across the decades; and D) The last fighter in this monumental game, and an icon of Disney, one of THE most well-known companies of all time, faces down the first, and most prolific bosses in Smash history.
Nothing will stop Sora from crossing to other worlds here's hoping that playstation all stars gets a remake he'd fit perfectly in there to and maybe a DreamWorks world in a future kh game
I honestly think the fight against a metal sora is a bit more symbolic. It’s Sora fighting the darkness within his own heart, hence you fighting in Dive into the Heart.
I believe the last two are supposed to be kh1 references Giant ganondwarf I believe is a reference to the Darksider fight in destiny Islands The music adding to the fact And I think the sora fight is a reference to never land in kh1 when you fight shadow sora
I’ve found a handful of references with Sora outside of classic mode. Sora P4 in stamina battle 1v1 against LV 9 Male Byleth on Fourside’s omega form (you’ll want to turn the volume down and play Nachtflügel for this one).
I'm pretty sure round 4 is a fight against Xion, Roxas, and Axel, seeing as how female Robin and the male Robin next to her are both small and the other Robin next to them is bigger. I believe this combination of Robin is also in Xion's spirit battle. Even if it isn't that, I don't think it's a reference to the Keyblade War of KH3 especially because I imagine you would fight all 13 Org members and it would be on the Find Mii stage instead. Also that Ganondorf fight is definitely a reference to Darkside on the destroyed floating remains of Destiny Islands.
I mean the Giant Ganondorf at least to me represents Darkside that you fight in Kingdom Hearts 1 after kairi disappears on destiny island the stage and the Music is similar to that fight
I won’t lie, until you noted the face it was a metal Sora, my first thought was that it was referencing the Roxas fight near the end of KH2 in The World That Never Was.
I believe most of the references are references to kingdom hearts one. Gannondorf being darkside, Skyworld being the invasion of Destiny Islands, Cloud being their first fight in Olympus Colosseum. I’m not sure what the very first match, the one with the three robins and the very last match are supposed to mean but I believe mostly everything in this represents kingdom hearts one.
@@sarthakarora3212 No why is there a female Robin if it's the Nort Court? All the Norts are guys in that fight that Organization 13 and Castle Oblivion
Dude I think you’re wrong about the nort court there’s 2 males and one female robin one of the males is bigger representing terra the smaller males is representing ven and the female is representing aqua the stage is the land of departure
I didnt consider that, not gonna lie Although there are alt colors that could have better suited all three of them if that were the case. My though is that the female is Larxene, since she uses Thunder magic, and since one of the males uses Fire, that could be Axel. Leading me to believe its either a Re: Chain of Memories reference, and the stage is Castle Oblivion, or that it could be either Garden of Assemblage
There is a LOT of Love for Kingdom Hearts in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, lets check out the references in Sora's Classic Route! Lets get past 1000 likes!
Just to show the love that Sakurai and his team put into the franchises involved in Smash Ultimate.

Both Cloud and Sora should have they're classic mode last battle against Sephiroth, one on Final Destination (which has a transmission similar to the Safer Sephiroth battle) and the other on the Fire Emblem coliseum with One-Winged Angel for obvious reasons.
I think the Dark Link fights might be anti form Sora’s, I know the map is wrong, but it could be Kh1 (dark clone) and Kh2 anti form.
Disappointed they didn’t give us Duck Hunt as allies through his route
ye missed opportunity
probably due to Disney, heck Sakurai only acknowledges Maleficent during his presentation, and Mickey Donald and Goofy weren't mentioned, and also when you fight Terra's spirit there's Ashley is to represent Maleficent

Darkside was definitely where my mind went first
It could be that, however i like to believe it is vs ansem, like at the end of kh1. Ganondorf is ansem and the floating island is supposed to be the destroyed island.

i got EMOTIONAL seeing Sora’s KH3 artwork in the end of his classic route. One of the best screenshots ive seen for Smash.
The giant Ganon is definitely Dark Side. The floating rock would even be a reference to that chunk of island you fight him on.
At first I thought the fight against metal Sora was a reference to the fight with Sora's Heartless in Re:Coded, but I could also see it being the Ventus fight in DDD

A big Sephiroth against Sora teamwork with Duck Hunt and Cloud
Don’t they have code for certain spirit battles that change based on what dlc you have?
@@maxspecs Yes, but that's only for Spirits and Mii costumes. And as far as I know, it only applies towards the Cuphead and Mugman battles.
The second fight, to me, represents when that bunch of heartless charge at you at the Olympus colosseum at the beginning of kingdom hearts 3

Specifically darkside from the beginning of KH1 where the island is destroyed.
I kinda saw fighting master hand and crazy hand as Sora fighting 'the hands of fate'
Like the time traveling, bringing people back in exchange for his own life. So fighting fate. XD I dun know
At first I thought giant ganon was meant to represent darkside, but then I realized that if it were darkside they probably would’ve used a giant dark incineroar instead.
The music and Ganon’s size and the look on the stage, it looks really close to fighting Darkside from Kingdom Hearts 1.
The first one, I thought, was Riku possessed by Ansem, with them both being Dark Link costumes, to show them being shrouded in darkness.
I feel like Dark Link and Dark Young Link could also be a nod to how Sora was turned into Heartless (a Shadow) and eventually developed his Dark or Anti form. Since it takes place in Hollow Bastion, Dark Young Link/Shadow Sora makes some sense.
Round 2 is probably just all shadows from a bunch of different sizes. Shadows come in like 2-3 sizes
KH1/Timeless River: Shadow Sora
KH2/Valor Form: Final form (or Master form for diversity)
KH3DS/Wisdom Form: Nightmare armor
KH3/Ultimate form: Double Form
Master and Crazy hand are Mickey's gloves but thats all we get from the copyright mouse
I think the fight with the 3 daren are more like the organisation in chain of memory
Marluxia larxene have are important in this game
The Hands reminds me of Xheanorts Hands with his strang gueser in BBS or DDD.
Sakurai did a recreation of the dearly beloved 3 main menu artwork drawing at the final moment in the end credits
The medal sora I think it references anti-sora
I honestly think the multiple Mr Game and Watches are a nod to Shadow's and Giga Shadow's found in Wonderland of KH1.
True Giga Shadow's only show up there but I think it works.
Honestly, my first thought for the Robin fight was Terra, Aqua, and, Ventus, and the fight against metal Sora was meant to be his fight against Roxas.
Quack! (Wish they make a round where Link in his green tunic as Peter Pan. And Toon Link in Red represents Captain Hook.)
The Hands are actually fitting for multiple reasons:
A) They're a duality of order and chaos, much like how the balance between light and darkness is a pivotal plot point across the series;
B) They're a pair, fighting side by side, making each other stronger. That's exactly what Sora's philosophy is all about; if his friends are his power, who else would be his final opponent than two brothers-in-arms (pun intended)?
C) White gloves are a signature of Disney characters across the decades; and
D) The last fighter in this monumental game, and an icon of Disney, one of THE most well-known companies of all time, faces down the first, and most prolific bosses in Smash history.
Some folks believe the metal Sora is a reference to the Roxas boss fight in II
Dark Link and Dark Yink might actually be a reference to Ansem controlling Riku at Hollow Bastion. Not my idea but I feel like it should be said.
So second theory behind the game and watch, he was a direct creation from shadow bugs, in smash bros brawl
Nothing will stop Sora from crossing to other worlds here's hoping that playstation all stars gets a remake he'd fit perfectly in there to and maybe a DreamWorks world in a future kh game
I thought the Master Hand and Crazy Hand fight was a reference to the Guard Armor from KH1 when you first fight alongside Donald and Goofy
I honestly think the fight against a metal sora is a bit more symbolic. It’s Sora fighting the darkness within his own heart, hence you fighting in Dive into the Heart.
I believe the last two are supposed to be kh1 references
Giant ganondwarf I believe is a reference to the Darksider fight in destiny Islands
The music adding to the fact
And I think the sora fight is a reference to never land in kh1 when you fight shadow sora
The hands at the end of the route are a reference to Disney and Square Enix fighting for keeping Sora out of smash c:
The hands could represent Xehanort’s hands. Both in white gloves and make similar gestures.
I mean the Giant Ganondorf at least to me represents Darkside that you fight in Kingdom Hearts 1 after kairi disappears on destiny island the stage and the Music is similar to that fight
The thing that bothers me is that Sora’s classic mode route doesn’t have Duck Hunt as an ally
I won’t lie, until you noted the face it was a metal Sora, my first thought was that it was referencing the Roxas fight near the end of KH2 in The World That Never Was.
The master hand is xehanort wiggling his hands all the time
Me personally, I thought the 3 Robin fight was Terra (being the bigger Robin), Aqua and Ventus
Three Robin's are the three xehanorts. You fight them in kh3, which completely destroys your view point.
@@sarthakarora3212 No why is there a female Robin if it's the Nort Court? All the Norts are guys in that fight that Organization 13 and Castle Oblivion
crazy hand and master hand are xehanort's dolphin hands lol or mickey's dmca hands
I think the nort court ref would be more accurate if sora had two allies during that stage of the run
Dude I think you’re wrong about the nort court there’s 2 males and one female robin one of the males is bigger representing terra the smaller males is representing ven and the female is representing aqua the stage is the land of departure
I didnt consider that, not gonna lie
Although there are alt colors that could have better suited all three of them if that were the case.
My though is that the female is Larxene, since she uses Thunder magic, and since one of the males uses Fire, that could be Axel.
Leading me to believe its either a Re: Chain of Memories reference, and the stage is Castle Oblivion, or that it could be either Garden of Assemblage
