Can you freeze the fresh blueberries defrost them and then refreeze them again before freeze drying to get the same effect as you did with the store-bought?
Question: When you say "turn off my machine and check the blueberries" do you hit the cancel button or just release the pressure valve? If you hit "cancel" does it start all over again? Not sure how that all works.
@@adventuresinfreezedrying I taught 25 years and now do TH-cam too. I know what it feels like that first year out of the classroom but still love teaching. Keep up the good work. A lot of people will find you and benefit from your skills as a teacher and a freeze dryer. 🙂
I have NEVER done ANY of this with frozen blueberries. I just take them from the 5-lb box and toss them on the trays. The. End. No problems whatsoever with frozen blueberries.
The machine will still keep freezing until you hit your preset freeze temp. Mine is -10 then it will shift to vacuum freezing, and then drying. I do not add extra freeze time in the settings because I pre freeze everything in a deep freeze for a minimum of 24 hours.
I just watched your blueberries ...my suggestion is corn cob handle . It actually takes very little time to poke each one gives them 4 holes on fresh berries., froze them after and they came out great.
I had seen that on-line…having done straight from the freezer vs thawed and refrozen, I have more blueberries not freeze dry when I don’t do a thaw first. Most will freeze dry, but then you will get one in storage with your dry berries and it will ruin the package.
Good test
Thank you
Well done thank you
Thank you! I appreciate your kind words
Great experiment thanks!

I have not had as much success with fresh assuming it’s because commercially they flash freeze, and I do not have a flash freezer
you make great videos thanks! :)
Thank you so much!

I hit cancel, release pressure, then close valve and add more dry time, I always wait to hit defrost, or no defrost until I have checked the food.
@@adventuresinfreezedrying thank you. That helps so much. Ps… love your videos. 💕
@@TeachersMakingTheBasicsFun thank you! It’s how I teach since I left the classroom :) my first year not teaching was 22/23

Maybe poke berries, but then hold over and release on the tray that they will freeze dry on?
If frozen, do you need to use freeze time or skip?

Great idea!
Why thaw blueberries from the store only to refreeze? Interesting video, thank you. Newbie here.
