There is another famous s korean case of a man raping a young child till her intestines (and her other parts) were so badly ruptured by the rape that it was classified by the police as the worst child rape case. Sadly this doesn’t surprise me in South Korea. The laws are quite lax for sex crimes. A perfect example is of that 8 or 9 year old girl assaulted so harshly by a grown man that she had to have several surgeries to try and repair damage. The violator was given some years in prison but was released in the last year or two. He then proceeded to move to the same town that his victim lived in. His sentence was reduced since he claimed he was drunk at the time he assaulted her in a bathroom.

I'm sorry she had to kill him to be free, that the police will hear a disturbing report like hers and come over to bow to her step dad. Also I'm always baffled by law makers, how is it possible that a child abuser gets just 10 years, I don't get it. Another thing I don't get in the 2010 case is the mitigating factors for the sentence. In all fairness, I think taking into consideration the fact that the perpetrator is a first timer is sensible, but I don't think I agree with the second part, that considering the fact that he tried his best to provide for his family after the divorce. Is providing for his family not his primary responsibility? So a father that abuses his child while not supporting the family is worse than one that abuses his child while putting food on the table? So if the victim isn't related to the perpetrator , this factor won't be considered, so a father that abuses a minor that is his child that he feeds and house gets like 8 or 9, but a man that abuses a child that he isn't related to gets the maximum 10, because he wasn't providing for her during the whole thing?. Well I think it sends a wrong message, it says abuse someone close to home that you help out in a way, that way when you're being punished they'll consider how instrumental you've been to the family. I think the court failed when they took into account the fact that he did his best to provide for his family, sooo wrong on so many levels.
@@melissamoonchild9216 Doesn't matter. As a parent, she had a duty and obligation to protect her child. She chose that man. She brought him into her daughter's life and then allowed him to abuse her daughter. She is as despicable as him.

That mother couldn't have done anything, even if she tried and it didn't matter in the end bc the monster ended up abusing them both. she didn't allow shit, she had no choice in the matter, even if she tried something, that POS would've absolutely started beating her up in a case of DV/IPV. he was a powerful man, if she or her daughter went to the police earlier about this, they would've not only laughed it off but done as they did, bowing to him bc he was powerful and wouldn't give two shits about the women suffering. that's how it's always been, and unless something is done, it's how it will always will be.
It's very infuriating to see that predators in South Korea get light punishment for committing the most heinous crimes. it's already hard being a woman, but it must be hell being a woman in that country :((
I generally disagree with death sentences out of consideration to education on issues of poverty, colonialism, intergenerational trauma and false sentencing but there are exceptions. People like the stepfather who use their power to abuse children deserve the worst.
one thing i'll never get is how the judges and stuff always say something like "yeah the culprit was of week mental state and suffers from this and that mental illness, he cannot be held accountable" and it gets passed if its a man, but once its a woman who kills out of mental health issues and panic, its not even a consideration she killed cuz of these things and it simply passes as murder and then also get some ridiculous high jail time the sexism.
When you reached the breaking point to all the abuse, all hell breaks loose. You can't feel anything other than pure anger. Your brain and body will constantly be in a fight mode whereas NOTHING could scare you anymore even death. Nothing matters to you anymore but to satisfy the anger you have inside. That anger uplifts you to stand up for yourself. all those years you don't speak up or fight for yourself will finally come to an end but you, you are destroyed because of them and you will self sabotaged without even knowing it. all logic in your brain about the outcome will not cross your mind because your mind is so focus to destroy everyone who abuse you. Later on in your life, when your abuser is no longer here, abusing you. You finally come to your senses. All the things you've done in the end you'll realize that it destroys you. But can you blame someone who gone through hell? do you expect them to think that there is an end to the abuse and at the end there will be rainbows and cupcakes? Brain and human is very complex. You dont know how much pain one person can take and how it greatly affect all the logic and reasoning they have.
Disgusting. How long and how much did she endure for all those years only to be punished again by the system. No one protected her and when she put justice in her hands she was punished for it instead. Admit it, people. There are some people who doesn't deserve to live
Can't even imagine how that girl felt enduring the pain and disgusts for all 12 years! It's kind of normal since victims aren't getting any help from the court or police, they themselves had to take action against it . These crimes should end here; i thought it only happens in my country but no it's not, somewhere it has to be overwatched and improvise since during such assaults victim always feel awkward and hides it which results in the doer getting more influential.
I love your way of presenting, it's straight to the point and also, the background is amazing. Additionally, I find your narration really gripping....Keep up the awesome work!! Kudos to the team 👏 PS: Your voice is really calming and soft :)
If you were a public citizen or say a member of the police force, if you had someone approaching you with ill intent and you struck back, off course no one can argue you weren't acting in self defence (especially! as a police officer) but something as deplorable and heinous as this, which leaves you with such mental anguish and anger that not only affects your relationship with yourself and others but can also affect your physical health going forward is beyond comprehension. just continuously shaming the survivors of such crimes and not focusing on the societal and environmental factors that facilitate these crimes makes room for greater generational strife. All my love to those who share her story and take each day as it is.
Putting people down shouldn’t be an issue. A menace to society is a menace. It’s not hard to NOT rape and murder people and that’s all society is asking. When you violate that willingly and defiantly then you forfeit your right to live. Period.
A monstrous step father with power who preyed on his vulnerable step daughter that took its toll on her childhood years being deprived with such great insanity and inhumanity. These kind of perpetrators need harshest punishments for thier immoral acts of sexual desires of that nature.
I have heard so many stories about child abuse and gang rape in South Korea, and it will unfortunately continue, unfortunately because predator get light punishment for committing the most heinous crimes. Very sad :(
SK laws and sentencing regarding sexual crime are sickening.... How can the court reduce the sentence for a man who habitually abused her daughter and making her pregnant...then to be jailed only for 7 years?? No wonder these victims thought to take the matters on their own hands...First offence, yes but he was doing it habitually!! Do they even know how hard that must be for a 15 yr old kid to endure??? Reduced sentence? You gotta be kidding me.... As I watch these Korean crimes I see pattern on reduced sentencing, these crimes are heinous so who in their right mind would approved a reduced sentencing??? Their families failed them and now the law failed to protect them too.
I am really sorry about what happened to women in korea.. it's painful can you talk about Cho Doo-soon case ? and what the last update when he leaves the prison, because i am feeling nervous about the girl who got abused by him if she is alright or not :(
Sadly - things are still awful even in "developed" areas - I cannot obtain restraining orders for my very young family members due to "there hasn't been an incident with THEM yet and when there is you can then file." With records showing all that us older ones went through. It's so sad that until blood is shed, people turn a blind eye 😔 I am soooo happy she will have a future now.
This is especially heartbreaking for me, because I experience abuse/violation as well. The most tragedy is that in her and my case no family member had ever support and protected us. I also knew a 6 year old girl, who was r@ped everyday by her step dad and her mum was only watching. Many times I really wish that a lot of abisivd people should never have kids.
Knowing what happened, this is among the exception of hating the killer. I know they have taken a life, but in a way, it is justified. They try to do it legally but it was useless. In light of what happened, it's also good to know that the government did changes to protect those who are victims of such acts.
It’s the stepfather I’ve seen worst cases of rape and child abuse around the world by own FATHER , grandfather or brothers . Very sickening and animal !!! Angered me so much how can men can be so evil

I'm worked and live in Korea for many years, it's not a very safe place. Many crimes goes unreported and unsolved. Though is a advanced county but they still adopted a very slow and backward system. The rich and influential will always had their ways.
I'm not one who supports death penalties, but at the same time I completely understand people who do. And it's cases like this that push me in that direction. While I don't support the death penalty, victims do deserve justice! And there should be absolutely ZERO leniency toward the abuser. NO reduced sentence or being let out early for good behavior. Life in prison should be mandatory for monsters like this, especially when he's such a high ranking official whose job is to protect people and carry out justice themselves. For victims, I do understand that taking matters into your own hands is wrong-I completely understand that- but when justice fails even after you've tried so hard to be brave and stand up for yourself the legal way only for your cries to fall on deaf ears, I feel there should be a special case for this with much more leniency and everybody who could have helped, but didn't, should be punished, as well. Her husband really loved her and I think it's amazing the lengths he went to to care for her, knowing how hard it would be. I'm so happy Kim Bo-eun found somebody like that in her life when I know how hard it can be to trust people like that after years of abuse. I hope that both of them are living better lives, now, and that Kim Bo-eun can heal and have the happy life she deserved, that was taken from her.
I am an adult survivor of childhood sexual abuse. The anger at the betrayal is something that is hard to throw off. The vile and disgusting behavior of these ungodly people is hard to bear or hear.
I agree as a survivor myself. What's worse is when some info about our nightmare gets spread around by relatives who then spread it into the world through friends. People forget about it when something else comes up if we're lucky but if it somehow reaches the ears of our workplace,it spreads like wildfire and bad people will constantly being up the trauma by mocking us or accusing us of tempting the predator. What I still find hard to believe is there are some predators walking away without a mark on their records because they can "prove" that the predator was guilty(if there's even an investigation to begin with) and there's a risk of another innocent person becoming the new victim.
What a scumbag, the man was supposed to be a a protector, not only as a father figure, but also as a lawyer. He failed miserably at both and of being a decent human being.
The couple should not have been jailed. They tried to resolve the situation without violence but were left with little other option because the police aided and abetted the perpetrator. Aiding and abetting is a crime under Korean law, so those police should have been jailed.

It's so hard to digest that people can be so sick in the head. To even think of assaulting someone like that is absolutely disgusting. There is nothing that can excuse what a peice of sh*t they are.
I am shocked by how backward Asian Countries are to sexual assaults. We see in K dramas, scenes that are completely outlawed in the West. Comfort women of the second world war still can't get justice. Last night I watched a kdrama and there was arm pulling, a kiss planted on a woman pinned up against a wall. The woman melted into the mans arms. That is sexual assault. In 1950 at the start of the Korean war 98% of the population were illiterate. An alarming number. A few families still only own the power and the glass ceiling between the sexes has never been greater. In most hotel rooms and toilets in Korea there are hidden cameras. Molka is widespread. Korean fathers are letting their daughters down. If you own father can't protect you then who can in a male dominated criminal system still reeling from the Police abuse and murders of the 1980's. A young democracy full of corruption.
That so painful for the victim. I hope s.korea pay attention and those people will be punish. It really scary to know that woman and children are not protected. They should create a law that protect women and children act.
I really appreciated your work to showing true and honest story . Keep it up dear Megan. One day I hope to see you face to face .my gracious prays is always with you and all sentient beings

Your videos are phenomenal!! Thank you for all your hard work. Just gotta say this is absolutely heartbreaking and so frustrating at the same time!!
Ashamed on the mother who did not protect her daughter.
she was a victim too..she was terrified of him
@@melissamoonchild9216 Doesn't matter. As a parent, she had a duty and obligation to protect her child. She chose that man. She brought him into her daughter's life and then allowed him to abuse her daughter. She is as despicable as him.
@@marril96 you say that as if she knew that's the shit he'd be doing. you don't know shit about men, do you? men who put on facades and act like they can do no wrong and have never done any wrong, men who, for THOUSANDS of years, have taken advantage of women and used them all as objects without second thought.
@@marril96exactly.
The mother could have tried to protect the daughter, but she would’ve been no good to her daughter dead. Which would’ve happened.
It's very infuriating to see that predators in South Korea get light punishment for committing the most heinous crimes. it's already hard being a woman, but it must be hell being a woman in that country :((
It is a VERY sexist country and the amount of hate and death treads women get just to say they support other women.
I generally disagree with death sentences out of consideration to education on issues of poverty, colonialism, intergenerational trauma and false sentencing but there are exceptions.
People like the stepfather who use their power to abuse children deserve the worst.
one thing i'll never get is how the judges and stuff always say something like "yeah the culprit was of week mental state and suffers from this and that mental illness, he cannot be held accountable" and it gets passed if its a man, but once its a woman who kills out of mental health issues and panic, its not even a consideration she killed cuz of these things and it simply passes as murder and then also get some ridiculous high jail time
the sexism.
You are the best at telling these stories, even though tragic, but you calm my anxiety 😥
Disgusting. How long and how much did she endure for all those years only to be punished again by the system. No one protected her and when she put justice in her hands she was punished for it instead. Admit it, people. There are some people who doesn't deserve to live
Just discovered this channel and I’ve binge watch for two days. Added to my list of favorite true crime TH-camr
I like the way you tell the story. Simple and clear. Amazing videos. More videos and followers.
I love your way of presenting, it's straight to the point and also, the background is amazing. Additionally, I find your narration really gripping....Keep up the awesome work!! Kudos to the team 👏
PS: Your voice is really calming and soft :)
Period.
I found this channel today only. Very commendable and precise.
I could listen to you speaking all day. Your voice is smooth and your words are perfectly articulated. You could really be a news anchor.
she shouldn't have had to endure him at all! this is what happens when people are allowed too much power!
A monstrous step father with power who preyed on his vulnerable step daughter that took its toll on her childhood years being deprived with such great insanity and inhumanity.
These kind of perpetrators need harshest punishments for thier immoral acts of sexual desires of that nature.
I find you’re voice comforting when listening to these horrible crimes
Ur voice is amazing and because of ur voice the case sounds so interesting
Their families failed them and now the law failed to protect them too.
it no wonder revenge fanatsy are popular in sk
I am really sorry about what happened to women in korea.. it's painful
can you talk about Cho Doo-soon case ? and what the last update when he leaves the prison, because i am feeling nervous about the girl who got abused by him if she is alright or not :(
I did. Check out the video on my playlist😃
@@DarkAsiawithMegan yes i saw it , that's relief she left her town to another place :(
I hope she's doing well, thank you Megan.
Your videos are great😯the way you explain you deserve more subscribers
Sadly - things are still awful even in "developed" areas - I cannot obtain restraining orders for my very young family members due to "there hasn't been an incident with THEM yet and when there is you can then file." With records showing all that us older ones went through. It's so sad that until blood is shed, people turn a blind eye 😔 I am soooo happy she will have a future now.
Love your videos!!!!
Just subscribed....
Why? Cause I love your English and how you pronounce each words in a slow and relaxed manner. Thank you for your hard work.
Very good voice and the way you tell the story, and very gòod in speaking english,i was amazed.
He's a demon in human form 😱🥶
I know they took justice in their own hands but sometime it needs to be happened.
I hope both of the couple are having a good life now.
The community (volunteers & pro bono lawyers) saw the situation with clarity, thankfully.
I love the respectful way u tell this cases, thank You.
I was waiting for your new videos to be uploaded..... Tbh I'm really excited to watch your videos, to begin with, we get to hear horrific crimes and in addition, the more i watch the more i want to see. Please upload more and wish you the very best in your journey in whatever you do...... God bless you💞💞💞💞
Please create longer videos! Love listening to you in the morning.
Delighted to have found this excellent channel, highlighting world cases rather than just American ones
That 15 year old life forever will be changed man.bruh wtf is wrong with her father
I'm worked and live in Korea for many years, it's not a very safe place. Many crimes goes unreported and unsolved. Though is a advanced county but they still adopted a very slow and backward system. The rich and influential will always had their ways.
Really love the videos .Keep up with the good work.
another best story..so sad that this really happen, good job megan!
I hope that both of them are living better lives, now, and that Kim Bo-eun can heal and have the happy life she deserved, that was taken from her.
i really like ur voice omg
Thanks yt for recommending this channel to me. You've such a great channel🔥👍
What a scumbag, the man was supposed to be a a protector, not only as a father figure, but also as a lawyer. He failed miserably at both and of being a decent human being.
An intelligent and lovely girl telling me a good crime story, what more could anyone ask for? Thank you once again Megan 🥰🙏
The couple should not have been jailed. They tried to resolve the situation without violence but were left with little other option because the police aided and abetted the perpetrator. Aiding and abetting is a crime under Korean law, so those police should have been jailed.
What a travesty of justice that she should suffer even a day in jail is ridiculous. The laws there seems blind to victim's rights😢😢
Eonni I wish u were my class teacher...ur explanation r so good and I can imagine the scenes when ever u talk about the case 👏 great explanation n it is really interesting the way to present the story's.
To me, child molesters, even if it's the first offense ever, should be punisher with life in prison with no possibility of appeal.
Beauty surely's u Megan Lee & the beast's ur story😊
Am not usually gave a thumbs up to this kind off but because i support your channel .
The couple is not guilty here. In fact, the police who bowed to the father are just as culpable as the father. Abuse of power is disgusting.
Hello Dear Megan!
I really love your videos as a crime fan myself!
I did watch the first part of The Glory (8 Episodes) and stumbled upon that info that this drama is based on an true story. (Curling Iron Case in 2006)
Could you cover this case in future? im really interested what happened to that poor girl...
the glory was so good. Rotten Mango covers that story in depth
Love your videos and your voice.. All the best dear. 🙏🏽🌷
So many such cases where the authorities in S Korea sided with the criminals against the victims... Stupid court, probably threatened by Prosecutor's office? Anyways same thing over and over. 😠😠😠
God , don't give such parents to anyone.
Your voice is very soothing brings comfort in my ears 😄🌸🌹🍃🌺🌻🌼
It's so hard to digest that people can be so sick in the head. To even think of assaulting someone like that is absolutely disgusting. There is nothing that can excuse what a peice of sh*t they are.
i love your set-up! so excited to find your channel (and yiu are so beautiful!)
I m really liking yr way of speaking with calmness and softly ♥️ love from India 🇮🇳
Megan, you have a great voice for television, voice over, talking books...fabulous. 💕🤩
I really like all your stories, and your soothing voice....puts me to sleep😂❤🎉
❤ good upload!
That so painful for the victim. I hope s.korea pay attention and those people will be punish. It really scary to know that woman and children are not protected. They should create a law that protect women and children act.
Youve got a beautiful smooth voice! Articulation 100%. Good story too. ❤
Found you from Texas Hill Country, I appreciate what you're doing and enjoy the way you tell the " story"
I just found your channel today & I already watched 5 of your videos. They are all very well done keep up the great work!
Am one of the early peeps!! Thanks Megan always for the awesome content, love it~
The music gives me so much chills. I cannot listen/watch at night and will have to watch it during the day.
Thank you for how you present each story so calm and well understood keep up the good work well presented 🤟🤟👍
I feel like Korea's legal system is so F up. seems like all the bad guys are in high positions in the law career.
I hope the SK justice system can get their act together before the SK people have to start taking justice into their own hands. . . oh, wait 😢
Don't call that monster her father. That man was a monster.
Youre a very lovely young woman, love to hear your voice tell these tales, love it.
Ahh i am so happy to found such a good channel, i love your story telling and your voice, instant follow!
Your videos are excellent, your appearance and voice is such a pleasure. Thank you 🙏
I really love yr voice & the quality how u deliver each story u upload❤
I really appreciated your work to showing true and honest story . Keep it up dear Megan. One day I hope to see you face to face .my gracious prays is always with you and all sentient beings
Dear Megan & fans! I could be wronged. This year Singapore Gov gave police powers to enter house of domestic violent. The aim is to stop the crimes b4 it is too late. The ministry in family affairs has the rights to protect the victim by sheltering them in half way house. B4 is too late. Singaporean hope this work. Megan please note Singapore is a country of big % of foreigners who settle down. Normally it is the man. Under pressures liked, lost the jobs. He turn it at his family. This must stop.
how was that not self defense??? the step father pushed her commit the murder in the first place
I love watching your videos, you're so fluent in English
Going to sleep with your calming voice and another horror story
