It was a very good documentation.. Myself a student & cultural folk musician.. I am trying to preserve & promote our indigenous communities.. Wanted to contact you regarding the cultural & original ethno-religious aspects of our marginalised indigenous ethnic groups of Assam & Meghalaya like Koch, Khasi-Pnar, Keot(Kaibarta), Moran, Rabha etc.. We should preserve our original rituals & identity in all aspects possible which is on verge of extinction.. wanted to dwell into the cultural heritage of such indigenous ethnic groups.. So if u could provide a contact it would be great 😊

Jaintias n khasis have same origin ... austroasiatic language monkhmer stock. But since time immemorial they are more influence by the hindu culture since their king adopted hindu religion whereas khasis stayed in their indegenius faith and the word jaintia comes from the word 'jayantee' a hindu goddess .The Ahoms of assam in the 16th century called the place in the hills of jaintiapur, Khasipur since they know them as khasis-inorder to differentiate them (people living there)from the plains of Jaiñtiapur inhabited by bengalees of bangladesh. They are called 'Pnar' khasi by mainland khasis to show they are from the eastern part of the khasi region.

Pnar is Khasi , War is Khasi, Lyngam is Khasi , Khynriam is Khasi, Bhoi is Khasi. We speak the same language but a different dialect. Even within the same district today there are different dialects in different nearby villages eg: 'Shella' and 'Mawlong' both are Himas in the past ,now villages within Shella constituency in sohra civil subdivision differs in their dialect.
Hence Pnars are also Khasis , they only differ in dialect( Khasi have 30 different kingdoms with which SUTNGA or JAINTIA is a more prominent one and larger one)
