I had already lost this from my Suburban Cablevision channel line-up by 1990. This station got replaced by the October 1988 launch of Turner Network Televsion. How stupid of the SC staff to oust this from the channel line-up,a station I really loved.

This was from when 29 was just an affiliate of Fox, 5 years before Fox would purchase the station outright.

What’s interesting is that WTXF did not start stereo broadcasting until January 1997, which was kind of unusual at that time.

Because I keep seeing the timeline jumbled here:
This ID dates from the first year of “Fox 29” branding, 1989-1990, and the second full season with the WTXF call letters. (The calls were changed from WTAF on June 1, 1988.) They had leaned into their new affiliation from day one, incorporating network jingles into their station IDs from the April 1987 sale to TVX and searchlight imagery into station promotions from fall 1987.
The 1989-90 “look”, if you can call it that, was a hodgepodge. This design *was* animated, though apparently not on the station ID. The movie open, which is on TH-cam, shows the animation - a cheaply-rendered “FOX” tower rotating to the “29” design that had been in use for a decade at this point. Only the movie opens and promos for syndicated fare used this logo design. Any promos for Fox network stuff would use the 1988 design; print initially put a “Fox” logo next to the 1988 design as well before using a wholly new “Fox 29” design used only sporadically on air. The 1990-91 season saw a much more unified look and a logo incorporating both Fox and 29 logos within a template established by other Fox stations.
At no point did Paramount branding appear on this ident. A small “A Paramount Station” legend was added to the 1990-91 ident around 1992 when Paramount renamed TVX under its name. That lasted until 1995, when WTXF ditched its existing logos (and all mention of channel number) for a rather generic “FOX” brand in preparation for becoming a network O&O.

This station was owned by TVX until Paramount bought TVX and renamed it to Paramount Stations Group.

WTXF used to be a Fox station by affiliation only, owned by Taft when they affiliated, then sold to TVX, followed by Paramount, and in 1995, it became an O&O when Viacom sold it to Fox while buying WPSG.

And now WPSG is a sister station to KYW who share the same building on Spring Garden Street.

I like it, but wonder what the logo looked like animated.
However the best FOX affiliate logo I have found so far online was the 1989 FOX 64 WNAC logo, for some reason all the other FOX affiliates placed their logo next to the FOX logo but WNAC incorporated their station name into the logo.
