I can see how apps would be a big help. I hate when I see businesses acting like it's a huge deal to accommodate the deaf. I worked at McD's in the 90's. We had a picture menu, I knew a bit of sign, and I would get a pad an paper out to help. In drive-thru, I would take their order at the window, then ask them to park, to keep the line moving and run their food out to their car when it was ready. It wasn't difficult to accommodate the deaf.
I watch this channel because I enjoy seeing there connection and family structure. Im starting to learn sign language simply because I think its beautiful.
I don't use a drive-thru either. I'm HoH so I can hear the speaker, but they are unintelligible. And there are a million little factors that determine whether or not I can hear and understand someone with a mask on.
It is also incredibly stressful for me to use the drive-through. I either go inside the restaurant or use mobile ordering for pick up or delivery. Also because sometimes I'm lazy lol
I really like it at the curbside parking and when I watched the sign duo’s TH-cam channel drive thru, it’s ok to interpret for Zach during the intercom before paying cash and get food.
I have a question for you guys! I went deaf in 2017, got Cochlear implants in 2018 & 2019. I don't know sign language and my implants only help so much. People keep on pressuring me to learn sign language, but I was born hearing. I still speak normally. Thoughts??? Love love love your videos! Thank you!!!
Do what you are confident with. :) It could be a new perspective and meeting new people. Well, and learning a new language could be fun. But in the end, if you do not need it, why learning it? Maybe some of those pressuring you are willing to learn it too. :D
I agree with Lylavati. If the people pressing the issue would be willing to learn sign language with you, they can help motivate you and be your practice buddies. I can't speak for all Deaf people, but my community appreciate it when anyone tries to communicate with us using sign language. Regardless of their level, it just means a lot and we are quick to welcome them into our community

I have never met anyone else that wanted to give their child the bigger room! I wanted to do this and make my bedroom a homeschool/playroom, but our family just keeps growing, we may need to just get a new house altogether! Also.. those wicker lights- I can't help but think of Jesus's words that nobody lights a candle and hides it under a basket anytime I see those! 🤔 😄 Lovely family!
Deaf Here.. I avoid drive-throughs too as well... I just don't feel comfortable doing them.. I only do it when I have to and that is when I'm not in the mood to bring in my toddlers indoors... I'm also paranoid on how the employees would treat me based on what I've seen on social media too as well but.. so far.. it has been okay (whew). so.. I feel you!
I'm hearing but I believe I'm losing my hearing. Everyone says I talk loud... I've been learning to sign... at church I sometimes interpret to allow me to practice. If the person talking is on my right side I've noticed that at times I can't hear what the person up front is saying, so I have to look at my preachers wife and mouth to her.. what did that person say and she will let me know. I've always loved signing and was always drawn to it but never knew why... maybe this is why? I'm thankful!
