- After winning his first Emmy last year the half-Filipino American actor Darren Criss won his first Golden Globe Award (2019 Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television - The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime). And in his speech dedicated his award to his Filipino mother who's originally from Cebu, Philippines. Congratulations to Darren Criss for winning the Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television!

I love that he recognizes that even though he is part filipino his looks are still of a white man and therefore he thanked his mom and pointed out her being from the Philippines instead of saying that he was proud of being half filipino. As a white man who comes from a family that is partially black, I totally understand it. We can't stand in their place and speak as if we had been through what they have been through 'cause we haven't. No matter how much of their blood we have in our veins, we are still privileged. But their hard work and support must be recognized!

He breathed that charachter with perfection and was able to bring each and every shade of the charachter in an interesting way to the audience.
