- As we near the end of this from software game known as dark souls 3. I believe this may be one of the best souls game to exist. Enjoy more dark souls 3 gameplay featuring champion gundyr.

I plan on fitting in other games between my schedule, one of em was supposed to be RE4 but I ain’t really feeling that. So I may just stick with dark souls for the time being. I’ll probably live-stream RE4 but we’ll see. Just waiting on games like street fighter, naruto, ff16, mk12 and all that to arrive.
Edit: Also I do plan on playing the DLC 🤙🏽
My favorite thing about this fight is that Champion Gundyr feels like he's an actually skilled combatant. You touched on it a bit while fighting him, how he utilizes his reach advantage well, and covers all angles of approach. He's not just purely out-muscling you like most enemies in the souls games. He fights in a way that feels intelligent, with him deliberateoy supplementing the enormous reach of his halberd with martial arts in close to cover what would normally be the disadvantages of his polearm, being that it struggles against close enemies. There's nothing more dangerous than a dude who is bigger, faster, and stronger than you but doesn't take that for granted.

Champ's aggression puts most elden ring bosses to shame, he's so aggressive you need to hit him in the middle of his attacks (like some bosses in ER) because he can basically chain them endlessly, he also has one the most satisfying combos to dodge in the whole series

I think I saw him start fucking feigning his attacks like a For Honor character at 10:50.
You just make your own windows, Champ Gundyr is actually just a simple lesson of spacing and parrying, cool boss but difficulty level I'd say is about a 3/10 compared to other FS bosses.

I disagree the first time I fought him he didn’t even get a chance I beat him first try so it was kinda disappointing to me. Morgott, beast clergyman, Maliketh, Malenia 2nd phase, hoarah loux and pre nerf radhan gave me a much more aggressive fight and it took a good amount of tries. Shit I might even throw Niall in there
Great work as always my man. If it makes it any better - lore wise Champion Gyndyr was supposed to take the journey that the player character takes. But he was too late, his fire keeper was murder killed. So in his failure he became Index Gyndyr, making sure that anyone attempting the journey is atlest stronger then him. And the whole dark tutorial area is basically a different world and time line, set way in the past, with Gyndyr in his prime. So this fight being hard - makes sense lore wise, he is supposed to be on par with the top.
This also essentially means he’s basically a player locked at level 1 and he’s THIS powerful in his prime.

Gundyr was one of my favorite bosses in the game. My hands were sweating like crazy by the end.
Fun fact about a lot of DS3's bosses, some of them, for example champ and pontiff, are programmed to only start up a combo if theyre looking directly at the player.
Meaning theyre forced to rotate until they "Lock eyes" with the player; so if you can recognize what bosses behave like this, you can abuse the hell out of it.
Champion Gundyr really feels like a prototype of Godfrey to me. Both Gundyr and Godfrey are among my favorite bosses in the series.

Easily one of my favorite bosses, Gundyr in his prime was a force to be reckoned with.
Also if you don't know already, the coiled sword fragment item is a reusable homeward bone.
But it can also be dropped to the crow in exchange for a titanite slab and at this point in the game, I usually have a pretty decent amount of homeward bones so I always trrade it.
@@blazebane9995 Yeah that's fair, I just rarely use slabs since I prefer to hoard them in my inventory like a goblin.
@@blazebane9995i wouldn't really recommed doing that,cuz the firelink sword fragment can be very useful,and you don't have to worry about slabs in ds3,unlike the original Dark Souls,this game gives them out like candy

Gundyr: Why should I walk slowly?
Gundyr doesn't just edgewalk at you, unlike some bosses.
No magic, no bullshit, just a man with a halberd, in your face, the whole time.
If I were remaking DS3 today I'd give him more health, a lil bit more damage and have it require at least three parries for the stagger. Boom, Malenia tier boss fight.
One of my favorite bosses to fight in the whole series, the way you have to constantly dodge and attack without any real breathing time makes it so fun
THE CHAMP IS HERE! Gundyr is one of the most awesome bosses he's so aggro and when you heal its like he look at you and says "did you just fn heal?!"

if you want to fight the nameless king (which is im favorite boss) you have to go back to irithyll dungeon and use the emote you just got (path of the dragon) in the place next to a elevator that's exposed to the sky with a sitting dragon statue (do the emote next to him an wait).
If you unlocked the elevator shortcut right befor the room with the prisonwatcher who run in a circle the place is right there

Demon Princes and Darkeater Midir are the 2 bosses I still really struggle against solo, after playing through Ds3 a dozen times and fighting them as a summon who-knows-how-many times

Champion never ending combo, hardest boss in the game in my opinion, he attacks forever and his aggression level is similar to elden ring bosses except he is even more aggressive, the only thing that makes him easier is parry, also his low hp although it may look like a lot sometimes because of small the opening to attack him are
you gotta use the path of the dragon gesture near the profaned capaital to reach a cool place. also in the creepy firelink there is a fake wall that leads to an item you need for a specific ending
This is exactly how champion gundyr was for me until I put in the effort to love how to parry, now I get in one or two tries.
There’s a hidden wall to get fire keepers eyes in the dark fire link shrine if you give the fire keeper the eyes and tell you want to end the fire it will give you an ending when you beat the game
I know its a bit too late but you could parry some of gundyrs attacks making it easier and there is a hidden wall to get the firekeeper eyes if you go back to the dark place and go where irina would be and you can get the hornet ring which boosts criticals helpful when you parry a boss and riposte
Definitely one of my favorite ds3 bosses, just ruthless. Felt so good finally beating him
Did you see if there was a tower outside of the shadow firelink shrine? That would be cool
In the old firelink there is a hidden wall to get to a certain item that will give you the option for a special ending

The thing I love about champ is that he has no true combos; his entire kit is so flexible to a point of anything can lead into anything. Wish more games would design bosses like this.
I love gundyr so much, favourite boss out of ds 1, 2 and 3. His shoulder check is the craziest move ever, dodging it gives a massive sense of accomplishment
loving the video, new to the channel, thanks for the content! Just a tip from my own experience in the game, Gundyr is sort of the parry tutorial for the game, in both of his forms. (tutorial area and the untended graves). Parrying can make the boss fight WAY smoother since any of his one handed attacks are able to be parried somewhat easily once you get the timing down. Try out the buckler or target shield since they offer the best window for parrying.

I have been playing back through the game and the strength build is OP. I started when I saw the first video in this series and am now about to spank two bad princes. Also, if you pick up the symbol of avarice, shield of want, and silver serpent ring you can double the number of souls from bosses if you put the symbol on as soon as you defeat a boss.
It takes some skill to beat him regularly. If you ever wanna play the game again and make him easy then imma let you know that champion gundyr gets parried kinda easily
Bro Champion G’s agrro is insane. If you don’t parry him he is a very aggravating boss to fight against… but then again if you know how to parry him…. You only have to parryy 5 times and he dead. I struggled with this boss every play through I did until Soul Level 1 where I had to learn to parry. When I did that, he became one of easiest bosses in game.
The 2nd phase definitely have some aggressive input reading in it
Right champion gundeer can be EASILY parried. Which would of made the fight a lot easier. Also go back into the other firselink shrine and there’s a hidden wall where you can find the fire keepers eyes. Give them to her and there will be a different ending to the game. Side note: PLEASE DO DLC

champion gundyr is the boss my friend recalls first when talking about dark souls 3, I liked the boss but he really liked fighting him.
Honestly, this why my first reaction to the rematch, u dont think it would be hard. But then he reminds you he is the champion, still one of my favorite optional bosses.

Gundyr was a pretty easy boss once I figured out how to parry him then it was a fight just given to me
when i played dark souls 3 for the first time he walloped my ass like 100 times before i could win against him, summons and all

Idk why but Champion Gundyr was one of the easiest bosses for me and i think i defeated him in first try and i was shocked there is no third phase

Not just that if you’re not greedy like this guy was being. He’s pretty easy. Couple hits back off, wait for the launch or dash dodge it 1 hit dodge the kick/stomp/swipe. 1 hit back off repeat. He’s a long fight that way with dex weapons. With strength not as much
