I didnt comment this on the actual thread (because i forgot) but Eldlich the Golden Lord is called Eldlich, o Senhor Dourado in portuguese, which IS the correct translation, but Dourado is a fairly common last name in Brazil, and "senhor" also means "sir" or "mister" so the name feels a lot less grandiose in portuguese, since it accidentally becomes something mundane like "Eldlich, Mr. Johnson"

I have to spit out a bunch of Italian translation issues here right now. Excluding stuff already mentioned by other commenters:
-The original translation of V-Jet Tiger's flavor text that interpreted the reference to dogfighting as in actual dogs fighting
-Naturia Eggplant that interpreted the "Eggplant" part as an egg that is also a plant
-Dragonmaid Sheou keeping the English name while all the other ones had their anagram names properly redone (I think it's because the word they chose to translate House Dragonmaid could potentially include the N-word when you shuffle the letters around)
-In fact, Dragonmaids were all mistranslated as Dragondamsels ("Dragonzella")
-Miracle Kids being translated as "Miraculous boy" despite not only the English name was plural but Hero Kid was made into a girl
-And also all those card names that in Italy somehow dodged censorship, such as Des Kangaroo and Barrel Dragon being reverted to their original Japanese names of Death Kangaroo and Revolver Dragon or TY-PHON being called a "Super Starmurderer"
-Also, remember Ill Blud? Well, for some reason they decided to call him Galeogrugno, which basically means "Pug-faced convict".

"Testudo erat Numen" and "Numen erat Testudo" have the same name in English, French, Italian and Spanish. German decided to translate the Latin into "Die Schildkröte war göttlich"/"Göttlich war die Schildkröte" ("The turtle was divine"/"Divine was the turtle") Everyone else has to learn Latin to understand the lore of this turtle, but the german translation team found it very important to give it to us straight that this turtle used to be divine.
also, "Reverse Buster", random packfiller that busts reverse (=face-down) monsters, was translated into german with "buster" not as in "destroyer" but as in "what an old person calls a young troublemaker" to "Umkehrbursche" ("reverse lad") Through a couple layers of abstraction he's basically gone from "face-down destroyer" to "buddy who turns things around"

While we can (and should) laught at bad translations, we need to keep in mind that in many cases, especially before the brand was established, translators would only be given the text itself with little to no context, and strict daily quotas to meet. This could explain mistranslations such as "light" becoming "not heavy", and "donkey" being misread as "monkey". Italy seems especially prone to this, as the demand for translation is very high and English literacy is relatively low.
