Wow man! Thank you for watching! Took me forever to learn this haha. Thanks for the bar coaster scratch pad tip by the way on that interview!.. Come to Salt Lake City some time!
Nick Johnson Ahh, so it is in dadgad tuning, the capo threw me off. Thanks man! Planning on learning to play this one myself for the first video of my channel (at least it will be after i set everything up and move my brother's "overly passionate" rap video to another channel). Definitely gonna be a challenge getting the hang of the precision
Im learned half of Mikes Scarlet cover and I find the trickyest bits are not the foundation of the song but to add flair to it with acoustic smacking and getting harmonics just right... shit gets real at 1:36 ish... its so easy to totally mess these songs up. this songs harmonics mess me right up.. I also noticed that its not Capo on the high D ( usually the high e ) ... is this right ? anyways, mad props. I may have to constuct some kind of prison for myself where I get food for every 20 seconds i dont mess it up :D
Yeah brainfuck... Hardest part to me is still the first verse and harmonics part in epic section.. Still struggling to find it out. But gosh what a pleasure to unlock it
Saw your comment on my video, just had to check your channel out! You are AMAZING!! I've always wanted to learn a Mike Dawes song, bought some but never picked out the time to learn one :S im still in school, lots of work, poor guitar losing love these days, so many songs still left unrecorded
Very nice! Can you please make a tutorial for this? I've got the tab, but I can't figure out how to play everything with the slaps and stuff. I tried to figure it out from the video, but that doesn't work for me :( Thank you in advance!
Thanks! All i can say is, the whole song is polyrhythms.. so one hand will pay 7/8 while the other plays 5/4 or whatever. Learn the left hand parts slowly, then the right, then merge them together... good luck man this song is a real bitch but you can do it.
Hey dude, I bought the tabs .. but I'm looking at them like ''wtf is that shit ?!'' :D how long have you been practicing??? and please can you tell me one thing: at the beginning, I don't know how to get this noise/ sound .. when I try it it sounds like the sound later (00:26) .. can you help me somehow ?? :)
This song took me months to learn.. literally... To get the noise on the intro you mute the strings with your elbow while you strum behind the capo. Then fade out the mute.

About ten years now. Yeah, i bought the tab from his site mikedawes.com ... and then i just watched the video over and over haha. the tuning is. D.a.d.g.a.d. that tuning is very important to know in this style.
+Nick Johnson thanks and nice cover btw.. Last question.. I would sound stupid if i play percussive guitar live without internal mic in it right coz the strings are the only ones that can be amplified.. So if my guitar has no internal mic can i install one inside or is that k and k trinity pro portable??
Yes, an internal is quite necessary to amplify percussive taps. The K and K trinity system comes with an internal mic and three transducer pickups as well
Hey Dude, Now I can play the whole damn song .. today i did the outro and it was easy.. BUT .. I can play a song called "the impossible" from one of the most insane guitarist ever but I can't play the last part of the outro where I have to put the 4th finger on the 11th fret ........ My hand is too small :00 it's so fu****g shit^^ :D
Dude great job! So humbled and happy to see this. You're awesome.
Also beard!

Nearly impossible.. 😂🤘
I ma trying to learn this song now... its fecking hard... mad props to master nick and to mike dawes... both hybrid aliens of some type... :)
This song was an absolute nightmare to learn haha it was way over my head back then.. And probably still.

Practice is all it takes!
Hey man, great work - really tough song to approach and play! Bravo.
The title says it all. Amazing arrangement and playing. T' up.
Awesome!! that's is really "impossible" to learn! Congrats!
Haha thank you! it was pretty intense to learn!
man I understand the pain rn...been on this for 7days now and still struggling on the first verse..
I think it took me 3 months to get down haha it's such a pain!

Thanks man!
So nice!! What did you use for scratching the nails on the top of the guitar?
Thanks!
It was a beer coaster from a bar haha. Super old school method
Finally a proper cover of this song!
Very good

Where can u go to learn this as a tutorial
You should do a tutorial on how to get the polryrhythmic stuff down.
It's really just learning the parts really slow piece by piece and then putting them together.. it takes a long time but its fun!
How did you stick the beer thing into the guitar, and will is it permanent?
I used double sided tape. It is not permanent, comes off all the time haha
wow, thats cool:D

what did you use to make the scratchpad?
a bar coaster
Hey sir! I wanted to ask what you used for a scratch pad there. I want to learn the song as well but I don't know how to get one. Thanks:)
Hey dude! It's a bar coaster
@@Nickredshred what is that exactly? We may have a different name for it here.
@@naynay4058 I literally went to a bar/pub and grabbed a coaster.. A coaster is something you set a drink on.. Most people use actual wood though.
@@Nickredshred well thanks a lot man. I'll see if I can get wood for it, if not, beer mat it is (that's how we call a coaster here lol)
😮😱
Thanks for watching!
how long have you been playing guitar for? Did you learn this by watching MIke Dawes? Is this in only drop D tunning?

Hey nick,
I started to play it too now and .. it's fucking hard but I can play the first 30 seconds now ;))
whats the tuning of the song???
Dadgad, capo on fourth fret strings 2-6
Whut tuning
Dadgad If I remember correctly Haha could be wrong.
@@Nickredshred thank you, if there really is something wrong, I'll correct it

nice cover bro! by the way ,what the green card is? hah
Jack Yang Thanks man! It's a beer coaster 👍
Nick Johnson smart choice! Do you know what mike dawes use on the guitar?
Jack Yang Yeah, it's just a piece of spruce I believe.
Jack Yang Yeah, it's just a piece of spruce I believe.
Nick Johnson got it ,thanks!
Oh .. not the first 30 seconds.. I mean the First 40 :D
Good job man!! I know how much work that is for sure haha
Haha of course you know ! :D My biggest problems are the the harmonic parts^^ The rest works very good ;)
I hear ya, Mike dawes' accuracy is insane.
Can you tell me: The second Harmonic sound (on the G-string 16 fret) .. do you hit the string or do you play it like the others?
pleas can i have tap
Not quite my tempo :) But pretty clear articulation otherwise.
+lbb2r And no, I can't play this song (yet), but that doesn't make me unable to discern tempo changes.
nice try
this guy does not have a good sense of rhythm and i don't really like the weird talk at the beginning or the end
Stephen Wray Cheers bro, thanks for watching 👍👍👍
