As a Toronto fan, I had a hard time with this matchup, but I've come around. It's maybe the most star-studded WS of my lifetime, and hopefully it's as exciting as it should be. But, why do people care so much about fans of other teams not being psyched for this matchup? And why is it so hard to fathom? These are two of the most popular franchises in baseball They are also two of the most hated franchises in baseball. And likely they are the top of both categories. It's like if you were bullied by two people and then they fought. It's tough to get passed all that and enjoy the scrap, knowing one of these bullies is coming away with the belt. Also, Jimmy spoke about how having two upstart teams doesn't grow the game because the casual general baseball fan isn't watching that. And the numbers last year fully support that. Similarly, having the two biggest fanbases in the WS at the same time could have the same effect. The ratings will be huge but that's helped by it being the two biggest fanbases + two extremely prominent Japanese players. And come next year when it's like, the Astros and the Brewers, the numbers won't reflect any impact from the LA/NY matchup because neither of those teams are in it.
Yes and no. A matchup like this is an eyeball magnet. Stars from all over the world will come to the stadium to watch, bringing even more attention to the game of baseball. That ultimately will lead to some of these new people that are tuning in to stay connected to the game some way (i know most wont, but some will).
@@eljacastillo you'd hope that's the case for sure. I just don't know if it fully works out that way. Next season, if it ends up being two smaller markets, we'll see. If the numbers are closer to Texas v Arizona, what did having all those eyes really do? You know what I mean?
@@tayloroleary8880 What is the alternative though? you'd rather have a Royals Pirates WS this year so viewership continues to plummet? what it does is it brings all the attention this year and MLB cashes in on it, NYY and LAD expand their brand. It's literally a win win scenario for the sport.
@@eljacastillo no. I am not saying it's bad for baseball, or boo big markets. Just skeptical what it does for the game outside of the adding to the top. If I'm a fan of neither team, what do I care if they expand their brand? My skepticism is what all this attention this year leads to. Which I think just pads the fan bases involved. But again, I know nothing lol. This could kick off a new boom period for the game. Which would be great. And the games should rock
I love how these guys keep talking about Yankees sp like they go deep in games. No starterr has gone more than 4.2 innings and any game during the Cleveland series and have looked shaky. Dodgers are going to blow up that rotation just watch. Yankees starting pitching narrative is a joke. Look at what dodgers have done to sp. Mets rotation locked down the Phillies and Padres had a better rotation. Still blown out by the dodgers. Keep holding onto that narrative lmao
If the Dodgers prevail they will have beaten two NY teams. I’m wondering when this has been done, the old teams didn’t have playoffs except for that 1951 -3 game series and after beating the Dodgers the Giants wound up losing to the Yankees in the WS.
Dodgers were the landing ground for Nomar, Manny, Derek Lowe, Beckett and Adrian Gonzalez, so many others. Now it's the home of Boston's hopes and dreams in Mookie Betts. Only real jersey I own is a Dodgers jersey. Some other deep connections like Pedro and James Loney both playing here locally before the Pioneer League lost affiliations. I'm too much of a Sox lifer to call myself a Dodgers fan but it's so easy to be invested in this series. I like seeing the Talkin Baseball crew happy but Yanks can as always get fckd

I now know that Jake clearly doesn't know what missionary is 🤣🤣 "turn around baby" 🎉🎉
Obviously since dew is spelled this way it refers to morning dew, not go do.
Got the dodgers in 6 hoping for 5 though...less stress😮
Was really hoping jimmy was going to join this episode
Can you start Gil game 4 and then go to Cortes if needed????
I love how these guys keep talking about Yankees sp like they go deep in games. No starterr has gone more than 4.2 innings and any game during the Cleveland series and have looked shaky. Dodgers are going to blow up that rotation just watch. Yankees starting pitching narrative is a joke. Look at what dodgers have done to sp. Mets rotation locked down the Phillies and Padres had a better rotation. Still blown out by the dodgers. Keep holding onto that narrative lmao
I wish Jomboys laptop had a Jake sticker on it, just a fans wish
Fernando mania starts. Baseball gods can’t script it any better tbh
Yamamoto will pitch 5-6 scoreless innings
He hasn’t even pitched 6 innings in a postseason game yet
Okay guy
@@JackRice007 He was ramping up from injury, now he's 100%
(idk i'm just hoping for the best here)
In your dreams buddy
I'll take 5 scoreless. Yankees strike out as much as anyone.
If the Dodgers prevail they will have beaten two NY teams. I’m wondering when this has been done, the old teams didn’t have playoffs except for that 1951 -3 game series and after beating the Dodgers the Giants wound up losing to the Yankees in the WS.
It was fun tasting East Coast tears after the Mets series. They will be much more salty and sweet after the Dodgers win the World Series.
58:16 Dodgerdan213 would fit right in! 🧢💙 great Dodger content. 🫡
WS 2024: Game 1 Soto birthday. Game 6 would have been Valenzuela’s 64th birthday. RIP El Toro. May his spirit watch over our pitchers.
Blockbuster v Indie?
We’ve been watching Breaking Bad the last 8 years
Dodgerdan would fit well with u guys i think
I hated the Yankees since 98 when they beat San Diego in the World Series but this year I really hope New York beats the dodgers
Yankees will get exposed. You’re not playing the AL central anymore.
Royals and guardians had better starting pitching than dodgers have😂 just quiet bud. 🤫
Dodgers fans pretending they don't. Have the worst team in the league in their division
@@sergiorodriguez-zz5linot to mention 3 AL central teams made the playoffs
@sergiorodriguez-zz5li really? Didn't the dodgers throw like 4 shutouts this postseason?
@@Lanse1984 against two teams that everyone was calling the "best teams in baseball"
Y’all get Dodger Dan for your Dodger’s content creators 🙏🙏
Code Tonkin?
“Gerrit Cole is missionary”
I see the thumbnail changed...
LETS GO DODGERS!
