Missed opportunity to do the whole placement with Diamond Dave, to get that rivalry blood pumping with a hint of anime "respect thy enemy"
This happened to me too. Ended last season emerald 4, then this season started at plat 4. played until I got emerald 4 with 44 LP and then my LP gains went underwater. Losing 31 lp and gaining 19.
To top it all up I went on a 7-game loss streak and demoted all the way down to plat 2 0 LP. After uninstalling the game like 3 times in a row, I picked it up the 4th time and started adapting to the new season's playstyle, and now I'm back to emerald 4 and my MMR is repaired.
You are not alone, buddy. Same thing happening to me in EUW... Peaked P2 last season, placed in P1, easy promotion to E4 and then just a circus after another until I demoted to P1 for the first time since Emerald was introduced. I feel like most people haven't even read the changes and are going in blind neglecting important objetives and items.

dude I had the same shit, I was diamond 4 last season ended the placements GOLD 1 76LP got emerald back the next day and then massive loss streak, now with normal winrate 55% i gain +13 -31 :)
