YO, THANK YOU and yes I’m yelling. Thank you bro. I’ve been so frustrated trying to learn this and you’re the first to say throw slack back! I’ve been twitching and holding. This is very much appreciated and I’ll be out this week working on “the dance”
I have had trouble consistently walking and keeping a rhythm. Have to try this to see if I can master it. Thank you for the great advice and demo. Your clear instructions and demo caught you a sub!
I have watched a half dozen videos on walking a frog and this has to be the best explanation I have seen yet. Thanks for the info. I understand the concept now.
I get most hits reeling my frog in fast asf. Unless it's a frog with paddle feet. Then a bit slower. But for tassel frogs. I reel it super fast through the pads or other stuff.
It's a bad ass frog. I was killing the bass last weekend at 11:00 pm on lake guntersville. Full moon and the frog took a beating but works as it should, didn't sink. Best frog I've used in 35 years or so.
JT! Thanks for the video man, great explanation. Quick question, I know you love Scum Frogs and I was looking at the scum frog 5/16. Not the trophy series or the launch, just a normal scum frog, have you used those? Would you recommend it? Keep the content coming brother and fish on 🤙🤙
Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely try this. I don't have a problem walking the dog with walking hard baits but I haven't been able to get a consistent walk with frogs. I'll tie on my launch frog the next time I'm out and see if I can get it to dance!
@@JTKenneyFishing It certainly did! I'm still working on getting down a consistent cadence but after watching the vid I used your technique and caught my first two launch frog bass ever!
For those of you wanting to learn to walk the frog. Dont start with a small qtr ounce frog, grab you a half ounce or bigger and practice twitching your rod with your frog out in front of you and don't touch the reel, after you get the frog to walk and are starting to get it down then cast out there and practice on your cadence and rhythm of handle turns, after that and time with it in your hands its like riding a bike you just get better and it's 2nd nature.. then comes the skipping and timed hook sets, in a short time you'll become pretty salty with a frog, your buddies will be like dam your pretty slick with that thing, first starting out I've spent dawn to dusk on the lake with nothing but a Spro frog tied on.. doesn't get any better than a monster bass blowing up on that thing and you reeling down for that homerun swing over the shoulder Hookset then the race is on, crank as fast as you can to the boat and swing em in, allow no slack cause they can spit a frog like a lugi across the pond
I love my Launch Frogs. I like up north in Pike country. I buy them every time I find them. I need someone to develop a frog that can be fished with a leader.
Bro!! THANK YOU!! Please explain to me why all the walking the frog vids ive seen have never explained exactly how to do it, they just say twitch the rod. All the times I been out there trying to get better at it, I could always walk it a few times, but not sustain the walk. And id always notice like when I fished this tourney at pickwick a couple weeks back-- If I was fishing fast covering water, I would walk it better, maybe get 8 or 10 walks before I messed up. Slow, I cant sustain more than 2 or 3. Now I know why, I wasnt returning rod back to original spot. You just changed the game for me again JT. Oh and those launch frogs--since started using them my hookup on frogs is nearly flawless. Other frogs I always had issues. The way that frog is made super soft with those huge hooks, I think its harder to miss a fish than it is to just catch them.
Glad to help! If you go to Americanbaitworks.com to buy those launch frogs use code KENNEY-ABW for a good discount on them and anything else at their site
@@JTKenneyFishing thanks man!!! I use a lot of their stuff-netbait swimming worms paca slims paca chunks, launch frogs, i even use some of the halo rods….kryptonite II, i use the black widow for my frog rod, etc. THANK YOU!!
Being a northern angler, I struggle with frogs BUT the Launch frog changed the game for me. SOOOO easy to throw and outstanding hookset efficiency (the bass hook them self on this frog, no joke). JT what about the frog legs? Do we trim them? Does uneven length legs actually helps newbies like me to walk it?? Please, some guidance on this. Thx.
You can trim them… I think it walks great without them being trimmed. I like the bigger profile. Go to Americanbaitworks.com and use KENNEY-ABW for a discount
@@paulkimble6223 I use Palomar as well but do have difficulty getting it to walk properly. I can make a spook walk easily. Possibly body shape of frog I’m using. Is the launch frog body shape easier to walk than others?
@@rustyreidfishing3334 I use the Terminator walking frog or the booyah pad crasher, and on both frogs I'll cut the rubber leg strands down but with one side about half as long as the other, makes the bait want to "walk" side to side easier. You also have to have a little bit of slack in your line so the line can jump and allow the bait to pivot back and forth in place without moving a lot towards you. Takes a little practice but it's a piece of cake once you know what's going on
I fish a lot of east tn lakes, Douglas, watauga ect. I got HOOKED on frog fishing while fishing a tourney on Douglas lake up in the river around reed grass. So now I went from having a 4 frogs to a box full of different brands, popping ect. I have also bought quite a few scum frogs since watching your show. My question is since most of our lakes don’t have grass and such, is a frog effective in the fall or anytime really around laydowns, trash mats, and docks? I haven’t had much luck on fishing open water with them. Any suggestions? Also I don’t have a problem walking the majority of frogs. It’s jus seems buzzbaits, walking baits and poppers get more bites.
Yes! Frogs can be very effective in the fall! If there is no grass use white. They get on Shad heavy in the fall. Do just as you said, throw it around lay downs, docks, trash mats anything that might hold one. If your having a problem walking them, just make sure when you twitch it, your throwing slack back at the bait with the rod tip
Jt I have a question for you man. When you’re fishing the Everglades are you using your fish finder or just sight fishing? I hit that subscribe button. Found you on mikeyballz channel
I haven't heard anyone say "twitch but throw the slack back or rod back" I'm hoping this is the key to walking a frog. I can walk hard baits no problem but the frog is proving to be a challenge.
The three people that thumbs downed this video…..are tourney fisherman who just got mad JT actually explained how to walk a frog instead of the generic “just twitch the rod and slowly reel”. Thanks JT
I bought 4 of these from TW after you hyped it on Mikey Balzz channel. Super disappointed in it. Itdoes not walk nearly as easy as other frogs I use and I know how to walk a frog!.
Wow. First time I’ve heard that. I think it walks super easy. Sorry you weren’t happy. Maybe you got some bad ones that were assembled wrong or something. I literally have never heard anyone else say that

Do use a loop knot to give the bait more “freedom” or cinch it tight?
Palomar knot
I don’t think a loop knot works well with braided line
