    • @TheRubberduchess
      @TheRubberduchess 9 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Some people should not reproduce. Too many children having babies thinking it's cool or will help them be seen as mature because only a woman could reproduce. I think it is a prudent idea, If you cannot emotionally mentally physically and most importantly financially afford a baby then NO you should not be able to bring a baby into the world. That baby will be born at a disadvantage. Who wants to be disadvantaged, there's already too many.

    • @justincase8834
      @justincase8834 9 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      P Gee …and just who do you propose should have the power to make such decisions? Granted, we live in an imperfect world and some people do act before they think (in many respects). I do not however want to live in a world when I have to appeal to a government to grant me some sort of permit to exercise my God given right.

    • @TheRubberduchess
      @TheRubberduchess 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      From your response it doesn't sound like you would have to worry about having to appeal for permission. In other words you sound like a responsible person. Have you heard of the movie Idiocracy? If you haven't I suggest you watch it. There are lots of examples of what type of folks should not reproduce. I think "we the people" collectively have the power to decide. Example perhaps a simple financial questionnaire. If we know that it takes X amount to born and raise a child then if the future parents cannot meet a percentage lets say 30,000 in savings FIRST then they would have to wait until they have saved the minimal amount needed for the basics to raise a child: like food, medical, education, etc. My niece had a baby just because she got pregnant. No job, no savings, both parents ex-felons, both unemployed living off welfare. They had no right brining an innocent child into this world. The one who will suffer is the baby. Our families worry everyday for that baby, neither parent is emotionally intelligent enough to raise a child and the baby is in the presence of drugs. Breaks my heart,

    In a 1921 article in the Birth Control Review, Sanger wrote, "The most urgent problem today is how to limit and discourage the over-fertility of the mentally and physically defective." Reviewers of one of her 1919 articles interpreted her objectives as "More children from the fit, less from the unfit." Again, the question of who decides fitness is important, and it was an issue that Sanger only partly addressed. "The undeniably feeble minded should indeed, not only be discouraged but PREVENTED from propagating their kind," she wrote.

The number of children in feeble-minded families is calculated at 7.4 whereas in normal families it is but 4.2….Runciman [President of the Board of Education] tells me that he has now got 12,000 feeble-minded and defective children in the Special Schools; many others are in residential homes. These are all segregated and kept under control until the age of 16. At 16 the parents claim them in the hope of making some profit out of their earnings. The girls come out by the thousand at 16, are the mothers of imbeciles at 17, and thereafter with surprising regularity frequent our workhouse lying-in wards year by year. The males contribute an ever broadening streak to the insane or half insane crime which darkens the life of our towns and fills the convict prisons."

    In the day, she had, in her mind, the best policies in relation to the betterment of society. Of course these notions would be frowned upon these days. Per Wikpedia : "The Morality of Birth Control", a 1921 speech, she divided society into three groups: the "educated and informed" class that regulated the size of their families, the "intelligent and responsible" who desired to control their families in spite of lacking the means or the knowledge, and the "irresponsible and reckless people" whose religious scruples "prevent their exercising control over their numbers". Sanger concludes, "There is no doubt in the minds of all thinking people that the procreation of this group should be stopped."[
