Asta and Yuno.I’ve seen people calling these two characters plain and boring, and some of those people are anime only watchers, so I don’t really pay any mind to their opinions, but Asta and Yuno are the two sides of Black Clover.
From the very beginning of the series, we have a kid with white hair, and a kid with black hair. Both of the same age, they consider each other as brothers and rivals. Both have the same goal, to be the Magic Emperor, and both use…
Oh wait no only one of them actually uses magic, the other uses.. anti magic.
Why though?
Yuno has pretty much been perfect for the entire series. He’s basically a prodigy at using magic, gets a legendary grimoire that gives him his own elemental soul, a wind spirit named Sylph.
Can we talk about how great things are going for this guy? He uses wind magic, and then luckily gets a grimoire that reminds everyone of the first Magic Emperor’s grimoire mysteriously, and it also happens to be a Wind Magic Grimoire, which he’s quickly proficient at using. He luckily finds a scroll that gives him a HUGE power up by giving him the wind spirit to go along with all of that, and during the magic knights ceremony he’s so impressive that every single squad raises their hands to have him join them.
Let’s compare this to Asta.
Asta has pretty much had to struggle for the entire series. He has no magic power, BUT he gets his hands on a dark grimoire with a mysterious Anti-Magic ability, and a dark spirit of some sort emirates from it.
Compared to Yuno, Asta has basically had to claw his way through every single moment of the series, always at a disadvantage, however, there’s a balance here that many people seem to forget when talking about these two characters.
Sure, it’d be easy to just call Yuno the lucky prodigy, and Asta the unlucky underdog, but that isn’t the case. Both of these two work VERY HARD, and train VERY HARD to be where they are, and it isn’t like they come from a different background. They both started off in the very same place, under the very same conditions, but ended up with very different powers and abilities.
You may think that Yuno has the advantage because he has some legendary power, I believe Asta actually has the advantage here. He has anti has Anti-magic, which no, doesn’t just mean that whatever magic touches his sword stops working, in the Black Clover Universe, Anti Magic is magical force, exactly like Magic, that works on an opposite wavelength, meaning when Asta uses Anti-Magic, it’s something that he’s channeling.
Think of Magic like Fire, and Anti-Magic like Water. While his enemies conjure up Fire like, Chakra let’s say, Asta is doing the same, but with water.
What’s more though, Asta’s water, is even more Potent than magic itself. Asta can cut through any magic. Period. Some of this has to do with his physical strength, but the main thing to take away here is that Asta is basically immune to magic, in a world where EVERYONE uses magic. He’s also nearly impossible to sense, because he has absolutely no magic power at all.
He sounds almost broken, and he would be if this power was taken to the 11th degree, but so far we’ve only seen it taken up a few notches, in what we know as his Black form.
This form is a form where Asta channels Anti-Magic into his body, and for some reason this gives him a somewhat demonic look. All of his stats are enhanced drastically, and in this form his swords leave a trail of anti-magic that he can shoot out as mini Getsuga Tensho’s, or use to propel himself for his One Hit Finish move, Black Meteor.
BUT WHAT ABOUT YUNO?
I’ve gotcha Ladies, Yuno isn’t that far off from Asta. Actually, in the latest chapter at the time of this video’s release, I’d say he’s actually completely caught up to Asta. Why?
Well through tough training, Yuno learns an ability called Mana Skin, where he basically covers his skin in a layer of magic. This enhances his abilities a bit (somewhat like Full Cowl) but it also works defensively.
Well, Yuno takes it up a notch later, when he takes his Wind Spirit, and fuses her with the Mana-skin, giving him a brand new form that he calls Spirit Absorption, Spirit Dive.
He’s literally absorbing the Wind Spirit, to SEVERELY enhance all of his magics, and also look completely bad ass, but wait!
There’s something here that sticks to the overall point of this video.
Balance.

Their origin is something that I think will be important because it's strange that they born the same day and were abandoned the same day, yet they don't seem to be twins

Well it's not just the height xD Don't get me wrong, them being twins would be cool, it would make their dynamic (one with a lot of magic and the other with no magic) interesting. But I think there's more to that
There can only be 1 Magic King, and for either one to just abandon thier respective dreams would be BAD CHARACTER WRITING.
So they will fight for it, and since anything less that giving thier all in that fight would be patronising to thier opponent, they will fight as hard as possible.
I really like their brotherhood, this is something rare in anime.
I don’t think they will actually fight one another seriously like to kill one another. Their clash will be like brothers fighting they will never go for the kill

I really love their brotherhood , but I am sure they will fight against each other welling to kill each other.This situation really reminds me of the early episodes of naruto in which both naruto and suske admire each other and want to fight each other.
I love Asta and Yuno. They may not share blood, but they’re brothers and I love that. People tend to hate on Yuno, saying he’s the sasuke of the series, when that’s far from the truth. He’s not some edgelord who wants to destroy the clover kingdom. Yuno is a good guy, who wants to be the wizard king so that he can protect the kingdom and the people he cares about. Just because he’s gifted, doesn’t mean he didn’t work hard to get where he is today.
Black clover is a really good show!!
Its a show you can watch, but only with food and if you dont have much better anime. Unrefined VA's, bland characters that are annoying, only good is fight animations.

I've started watching Black Clover just 2 months ago and I was about to drop off the anime because Asta's yelling is hurting my eardrums like damn! But then something stopped me from dropping it, it was like there's a magnetic pull that makes me keep watching and honestly? I did NOT regret a single thing on watching this Anime. Right now, Kimetsu no Yaiba is climbing up on the Anime popularity poll ( and mostly likely to become one of the most popular shonen, if not the best ) and I admit it's good but it gives me diffferent vibe, unlike Black Clover. There's just something that makes me hesistate to love the anime ( including Fairytail..Yes, I don't like Fairytail but I do watched some scenes before ) whilst the Black Clover captured my heart...I love this anime so much and no matter how much people hate it, my feelings for it will never fade...💜

Everybody here saying Asta is like Naruto blah blah, but when actually think of it, Asta is like Rock Lee, no magic and no ninjutsu, trained their whole life, got a genius rival (Yuno and Neji) and bullied by others, and also has an awesome mentor (Guy and Yami)

Asta might become the demon, and Yuno might become the wizard king. The story will repeat itself like the legend in the story. The demon got out of control and go berserk, and the wizard king will stop him. It might become a sad ending where Asta will become a demon or sth and fail to achieve his dream, and Yuno will then become a wizard king for stopping his rival.

Using your logic I could say that Yuno will be killed by the Leader of the highest ranked Knights Squad, Becuase the series is called black clover and Yuno is often symbolized by a 4 leaf CLOVER and burning a 4 leaf Clover would make it a BLACK CLOVER.
What I'm saying is implications based on the show name aren't the best.
Jason Yon personally I think the author will subvert expectations, by having Neither Yuno or Asta be Magic King in the end.
But that would be an extremely mature move for the author to take, and since Shounen Manga is mostly enjoyed by a younger crowd, likely won't happen

This anime is nothing like naruto. If you think it is then you haven’t look into black clover. This anime have it unique aspect which I like.

I see no proof for Ether Asta or Yuno to become evil, sure Asta powers for a bit demonic but just because it’s demonic doesn’t mean he’ll become evil. Even if the demon inside of him takes over it’s not like he’ll let him nor will his friends let that happen, also sure he was looked down upon but he doesn’t want to get revenge on the people who wronged him. Now for Yuno, he has zero motives or reasons to become evil like seriously none. Nothing tragic happened to him, no one has killed someone he loved forcing him to be bitter and cruel to get his revenge, he isn’t possessed by anything, and etc.
Also the story is up to the point where it wouldn’t make sense or be a good story for one of them to suddenly become a villain or be evil.

No I did not, It was just my guess. Pretty close call though. Well he turned out to be the reincarnation of the Baby of the King of elfs so theoretically its pretty close call. He did not turn evil but I did just say he has a lot of reason to go berserk. In the end he did not and I like how that played out.

I Love This Video! I was literally grinning and agreeing the entire time because that's exactly how I thinking about the entire situation with Asta and Yuno. They are by far my favorite Rivals in any anime.(no offense to other rival sets in different anime)
I'd say that Asta and Yuno are my second favorite pair of rivals behind only Gintoki and Takasugi from Gintama.

I think that asta will become the wizard king , and yuno will be somewhat the new leader of magical knights , like the most powerful one , I think that as , Astas resolve is way more visible and there is a hint in the opening song when the bird at the beginning sits at the former wizard kings head and at the end it sits on astas head

Yuno’s necklace is the key to unseal Asta’s overpowered demonic magic.
Asta uses uncontrollable black magic that’s why he has a sealing spell.
Yuno uses Wind magic but will get light magic from someone.
Asta will break his seal ,the day he does he’s going to become a threat and become the devil ,Yuno will need light magic to seal the devil and that’s when they will fight I bet.
And that's when yuno will lose
I like this show and it has enormous potential to become the next big thing. I think people who are hating on it have zero patience and want the big picture immediately. I love the character of Asta...and totally agree with this video...he has magic power, it's just works completely different then normal magic...so his growth is limitless.

@@shmackedmuffins7948 the amount of magic asta can negate also depends on his physical strength because kinetic energy is a thing making yuno's wind magic (has a lot of kinetic energy) a perfect opponent for astas anti magic as the video said before anti magic is another form of magic that is more potent than regular magic but in terms of stats they are equal to each other not only does this make asta have a double edged sword so he isn't a kirito but it also allows for flexibility to make the reader think something asta does is to unbelievable for example look at the sword asta got in the anime the demon slayer sword or dweller for got which where asta can use regular magic with it if someone puts their mana inside of it even if it is for one strike each not only does it prove that it can allow magic in it but it also allows for realism in the story because anti magic is already a Type of magic

Personally I think asta is gonna become viewed as a villain bc of his demonic powers lots of later forces might try to drag him to the dark side bc technically he might not be the only one with 5 clover book and I don’t think the demons are gonna be seen as a nice thing later on that will lead to asta vs Yuno and asta takes the fall as a villain for the greater good and Yuno takes the mantle of a hero but the truth is asta won’t be really evil it was an act to fool the kingdom and didn’t really have a choice other than doing that and Yuno gets credit for taking him down and it makes him a step closer to magic king basically asta is probably going to be a sacrifice to something bigger but only a few people will know the truth it’s sad but when you think about the misfortune he had through out the series it makes sense that he doesn’t have a super happy ending

Nope I don't think so. Asta is too set on his goal for something like that too happen. If you remember he's like nastu with a strong sense of justice and honor to protect his friends. So I think that highly unlikely

Honestly I’d like to see them fight but not in a turning against each other way. Like the series ends will them fighting to become magic emperor but at the end no matter who wins they still respect each other and their friendship is unchanged.

It kind of redundant stating that he has wind magic and gets a wind grimoire. You are what your magic is. The grimoire is important because it's the four-leaf clover grimoire just like the 1st magic emperor and only powerful & extremely gifted individuals have ever got on. It not that Asta has anti-magic but better that he can wield it because he has no magic, to begin with. I see you about go this road saying that Asta is immune to magic because he can use anti-magic but is false due him being healed with magic, him being controlled by magic, and him being touch by magic.

Asta’s parents are Dante (demon king) or the demon spirit in asta’s grimoire and his mom might be an elf
Asta doesn’t have magic because Dante only have anti-magic and if asta doesn’t become the wizard king he has another chance of becoming the demon king because of his anti-magic that is all i know

Asta was been looked down by everyone since he's in Black Bull, and Sekke Bronzazza revealed that he has no magic in him infront of everyone.
The reason behind why Asta’s black form looks demonic is because of 2 reasons. 1 When Asta get’s his grimoire the narrator tells use what each of the leafs on the clover kingdom’s flag + the 4th and 5th leafs represent. And the 5th leaf represents the devil or demon. and 2 Asta’s swords are literally called the demon slayer and demon dweller swords
Did anyone also see in the manga that Astas demon form has a right wing and he has a right horn, and Yuno has a left wing and a left side of a crown?

Sister lily talked about the book that the magic king killed the demon. Since Yuno got the 4 clover implying that he would be the Magic Emperor while Asta have the 5 clover which have a demon residing it . Maybe its a foreshadow that Yuno is bound to slay Asta when Yuno becomes the Magic Emperor ?

I think they will BOTH become the magic emporers. Both are them were found together, both of them lived in the same house, its yin and yang and together they can make peace.

Maby it will be the exact thing he breaks expectations showing that there can be a showdown in the spirit of a friendly competition so that both can still remain friend and they are not torn appart like in so many other media itvis the case
Asta= the Underdog but super powerful and he is also the person who gets understimated allot Yuno= The Prodigy who is skilled and powerful and getting praised by almost everyone.
there can only be one hokage, but to sasuke over the years the definition of hokage changed. At the end of the series, both naruto and sasuke were able to fit their own role of hokage, and worked together to make it a complete position, in a way that it had never been before. I think the magic king role will be filled in a similar way.
He's not actually immune to magic. He can negate magic that he sees coming, but if someone were to get the drop on him they can still hit him with a magic attack before he's able to block or cut it with his sword. So rather than Asta being this incredibly overpowered beast, the Anti-magic really just gives him a fighting chance. One slip up at the wrong time and he's screwed. I'd still say Yuno has the slightly easier time of it even if I do agree that he is also a very hard worker.
Btw if you watch what happened in the past with the two he never used magic he use weapons and the demon used magic just letting you know

Yuno: Has a spirit and spirit form
Asta: Has a devil/demon and devil/demon form
Asta just like naruto dark magic naruto evil fox . Naruto been rejected by people and Asta has been looked dawn on its kinda the the same .they both get stronger while time goes on
Mint Candy Yes, but unlike Naruto (as far as we know, and hopefully it stays that way.) Asta isn't anything special, not a prodigy, not the son of some super powerful person, he just got lucky cause he has no magic.
Asta is a commoner in an almost feudal world. So unlike Naruto of course they looked him down because of his social status. Hell, the nobles looked down Yuno too because of the same reason, tons of them are even now after 130 chapters are not acknowledge him because of his commoner origin.

I think that in the end...they co rule. They probably find out that they are two parts of one whole decended down from the 1st wizard king or something and decide that they are stronger together.

My theory..
Yuno becomes the wizard king
And Asta becomes the demon king
My reason is that at the start of the series, Yuno received the very book the wizard kings have
And then when it spoke about a 5 leaf clover it said the devil for Asta
So even tho both are set for the same goal, they become kings of their corresponding books

But if a cool thing, asta’s forehead is never shown because of his hair. On the demon’s forehead he had a third eye so maybe if he gets a full demon form that hair will come up and reveal another eye.

In the latest manga Yuno turned on Asta (unintentionally ofc) but Asta manages to get through to him and now Yuno has powered up 100x even from before and now Yuno is superior, but this is anime to Asta probably with do the same thing but instead of manifesting half of "Black Form" he will cover his entire body, my guess how is that instead to him controlling it with one sword to get half of a result he will use both swords and the same method he used to gain the half version of "Black Form"

My thoughts on the matter would be that one of them (most likely Yuno) is related to the king or another royal bloodline, and that the other will be the magic emperor. Or that they will end up co-emperor, and maybe even that Yami becomes magic emperor and they become captains of their respective squads. Just food for thought.
Asta reminds me of Naruto and Natsu mixed together, and the Black Bulls are like the Fairy Tail guild and Yuno is like Sasuke and Gray. The leader of Black Bulls (Forgot his name) is like Gildarts and the wizard king is like the Hokage. The rich girl who I thinkis Noella reminds me of Sakura but not completely obsessed with Sasuke just tsundere lol. Then the bird that follows Asta around reminds me of Happy. Asta is “useless” and wants to be accepted like everybody and become the wizard king like Naruto when he wanted to become the Hokage and have everyone accept him. Asta and Yuno are “rivals”. Uhh that’s it I guess just things that are similar but that doesn’t change the fact that Black Clover is a great anime!!

The reason Asta has a demonic appearance when channeling Anti magic is because his Five leaf clover grimior contains a demon simple.

Both of them have legendary books because both have technicly 4 leaf. So they did start off on equel ground still! But Asta has a demon in it aswell wich makes it 5. Yet, I think it's a fun fact to know that if the elfe leader never got in touch with the demon and if Asta did have mana, he would have gotten Sword Magic. Like the Elf leader.
It's always nice to see love for this series in spite of everything. The detractors are many. But those of us that have been with it from the start know that it has the potential to be something special. Keep up the good work. And don't let the misconceptions about this series keep you from telling people like it is. Black Clover may be doing the cliches, but it's doing them extraordinarily well. And it's NOTHING like fairy tail.

I love the show the balance between all of the characters is amazing. It’s more thought out than NARUTO and I’m a big fan of that show. I originally stayed away because I thought it was a copy but I was greatly mistaken and I am ok with that. I would recommend this to everyone

You know what? For all of you guys that say that the animation is really bad .. I don't think that you all will be able to draw any better so stfu. In my opinion animation is great and I hope that someone other than myself thinks so too.

asta isn't actually able to use anti magic, he can channel it but that is because he has no magic. the anti magic actually comes from the blades but because he has no magic it is able to fill him with the anti magic. The reason why other people are unable to channel anti magic is because their bodies are always trying to produce magic which means that even when an anti magic sword has drained all the magic someone has they technically don't actually run out of mana because once they hit 0 their body brings them to 1 but the anti magic brings them back to 0. In asta's case he goes into the negatives which is what anti magic is. While it may seem like semantics it's actually a core important distinction to make because some people may think well if anti magic is a type of magic then that means there should also be an anti anti magic and so on and so forth.
i am almost certain that towards the end of the series and they are both extremely close to becoming the wizard king. but then by some twist of fate they will both become the wizard king/kings.

I believe: One of these two will be killed to save the other one (probably Yuno cause Asta is the main-char) and the other one will become the magic-king. The one who died will be resurrected (for some reason) and will become a captain. What do you think?
