    Amazing that 100 Leadenhall street will be so tall that you can see the Golden Gate Bridge from the viewing gallery. It's a shame the Gherkin is getting so obscured.

    I like some of these skyscrapers.
    That said, skyscrapers generally are 20th century megastructures. I seriously believe that by 2050, there will be fewer and fewer skyscrapers.
    This is my reasoning: governments and companies will tell their office employees to work from home offices, which would lower rent companies have to pay to operate. The increased awareness of climate change, even with EVs, will cause people to limit their vehicular travel to luxuries. Almost everything will be bought online and delivered to the customers. If a person wants to view something from a great height, they'll use drones.

London can't continue to exist in a sealed bubble - it still needs the rest of the country despite what it thinks. No doubt my comment will be ridiculed by many in here; but I know I'm right.

    • @keithwaites9991
      @keithwaites9991 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I live in Greater Manchester, interesting enough, I believe that there are no hight restrictions for buildings in Manchester , probably because the airport is to the south west of the city and the flight path of aircraft coming and going doesn't go over the city. Foundations have to be considered, however, as the higher the building the deeper the foundations have to be - especially if the ground underneath is 'soft' eg clay or chalk. I'd love to see a 1000ft skyscraper in Manchester and it may well happen...
