    If only Nissan/Infiniti could pair these beautiful designs with more powerful engines, and throw out the CVTs! It drives me crazy when I see a gorgeous FX-50 with a V8 on the road, knowing Nissan had struck gold but then went backwards. 🤯

      @@cupcake0190 Agreed! And why they keep a CVT on the legendary Maxima name plate! I’ve always loved Nissan, but no way would I take any of their crossovers over what Genesis is doing. Come on Nissan, get your crap together! 🤣

      Why is a CVT in this particular vehicle a no-go? Have you driven it? Is this something a "car enthusiast" just says out of hand to project their "car enthusiast" credentials? It's such a banal and regurgitated opinion.

    • @IanBpa
      @IanBpa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’ve driven the new QX50 a bunch and I can say, Infiniti’s CVT sounds super weird, but it makes up for it with an insane torque curve. It pulls extremely hard all the up to very illegal speeds. I have witnessed a QX50 gap a newer, tuned WRX going from a dig to 100+mph.

    For some time now, I’ve thought Infiniti had excellent exterior designs with an elegance befitting a luxury brand, but their interiors were seriously lagging behind the times in terms of looks and just felt like a Nissan with more beige and wood. Glad to see Infiniti injecting some real style into their cabins now and I’m keen to see where they go from here.

I'm not a big fan of CVT and the fake simulated gear. The ride is so comfortable and I think the CVT on the 2021 has improved in which sometimes I don't noticed it's a CVT. I think Infiniti updated the software. As a family man, I like what Infiniti is doing. And despite the chip shortage, 2021 QX50 can be lease for under $420 including tax in Los Angeles county. Glad to see the support of the 2 screen setup, granted the finishes SHOULD be the same but having the map/phone integration in the top screen and full HVAC/stereo/settings in the bottom screen is super helpful. Its what I do not like about the new Nissan infotainment in my 22 Pathfinder, but still absolutely love in my old 17 Q50RS400 (to bad that model didnt have Android Auto/Apple CarPlay), but the fact that I can have any map up and open full time is good. You should also keep in mind that Infiniti used to be known for their driving dynamics. The outgoing QX50, which was just a renamed EX37, was essentially a G37 wagon. It drove as good as it sounded on paper, maybe more. The QX50/55 completely walked away from that, and what’s left? Sure itit looks good, but the interior just isn’t that impressive, the powertrain is unrefined, and the driving experience is lackluster.

    I've got no issues with the CVT. It works damn good. It's just different is all.

    What Yuri referred to as the SQ5 was actually a Q5 Sportback. This should have been a traditional automatic, and it would have been so much sweeter paired with the VC-TURBO. Not to mention a Red Sport mid-performance model. At least they're realizing their CVT mistake. Expect major changes (interior and transmission) for the mid-cycle 2023/4 QX50 and subsequently the QX55.

    This most definitely should have the
    new 9 speed transmission in it.

    Not into the front end, it looks plain. Infinity played it very safe with the design, the back looks sensational though. Engine sounds like a vacuum cleaner. Another crowd pleaser I believe.
    Happy New Year Guys and all the best for next year x

    I'm pretty sure both Toyota and Mazda had variable compression ratio engines out the last couple years. I know the new 2 liter in the Corolla can vary up to 13:1 compression.

      Neither do. You may be thinking of Mazda's Skyactiv-X engine with their SPCCI technology, and Toyota's dual fuel injection system and/or dual VVT in that engine. Hyundai, though, uses a new CVVD system, which they claim gains a similar benefit without the piston complexity.

    What’s up with the recent Infinity focus? Do you actually like these cars or just securing the bag? This or Audi SQ5?

    My Alfa Stelvio 2.0 kicks this things ass. I was able to chip it to 340whp and a new exhaust for a total of 58k. This thing is a road going Ambien.

    Infiniti makes good looking cars. I really like their aesthetic especially how their headlights look and front grill. It’s a shame their infotainment among most of their cars still run an outdated setup. Where is the nicer LCD speedometer options? I liked their back window kink it used to have though. Their transmission should be using the 9 speed at all times.

    They have always made cool cars that people love but that cvt generation is what really took them out besides taking 10 years to update models. Now they are coming back slowly.
