We used GS with our Litten and it saved her life. Unfortunately she was left permanently incontinent and unable to walk without stumbling and later died from complications related to those disabilities. We miss her so much.
I adopted two adorable kittens from a shelter. Literally one month later....I lost the male. In one night he had no balance and took a few deep breaths and died. Read my post above. There is a cure. One of my local vets is curing cats with FIP. My cat has been cured for over a year now thanks to the FB group "FIP Warriors". They save lives. The GS drug is a miracle, my cat is testament to that. My vet is now a believer and has also joined the group to educate himself. I'm sorry for your loss, as this virus is so awful. If you ever have another cat diagnosed with this or know of anyone else who is dealing with FIP please direct them to the FIP Warriors page. They can get you the life saving drug as they helped me. I have my cat back. He is forever Cured.
My kitten was on GS 44 and we switched to EIDD because the injections were so difficult . He is 34 days into treatment and doing ever so well . He is 17 weeks old so he was very young when he got it . He was a day or 2 away from death only able to move his eyes , He's an absolute darling and already has a big appetite , loads of energy . He's still a little wonky but that doesn't bother him much . I am documenting his progress everyday . All I can say is please do an update as we 1 year on . My heart goes out to anyone who has lost their cat through FIP but now it's treatable so please don't be afraid to try . Neither of my kittens treatment are official but there are ways. Please don't despair
We adopted a 4 month old kitten who was soon diagnosed with FIP. He passed away less than a month after he chose us. His vet did not have enough experience with the virus to fully diagnose him until it was too late. Thank you for raising awareness on this issue.
Our 7 month kitty is on day 3 of treatment for neurological FIP. She's in rough shape; not walking, a mix of assisted/forced eating for days, and on the scariest night not able to hold her head up. He conditioned hopefully seems to have stabilized in the last 30 hours. She is stronger than she was on the worst night. We are doing everything we can for a full recovery
Wow. 30 yrs ago the kitten I adopted was (finally) diagnosed and died of FIP. No mention of any coronavirus back then, vet also told us it was highly contagious, to throw away any of our cat’s items that couldn’t be washed, and not to bring another cat into the home for at least 3 months. How things have changed.
Had a TNR cat disappear for 2 years, only to return to me one day full of lice and skinny and sick. I recognized him immediately and he allowed me to take him in. He lasted a few months and had to be euthanized due to a belly full of fluid and inability to breathe 😢 He was a polydactyl named Hemi and I miss him so much but I was glad he remembered me in his time of need. I am convinced he was in a filthy cat hoarders home, never saw a cat with lice in my 42 years. Makes sense as FIP is highly contagious in overpopulated homes. I suppose he either escaped that horror house or was put back outside because he was ill.
My cat was diagnosed with wet fip a week ago. My vet recommended FIP Warriors for the treatment. We are on day 2. She is still suffering with breathing, she is not eating or drinking, I am feeding her with syringe and I give her water the same way . But the fact that she is still with us is a big deal, I think without the medication she would be fine by now . Hopefully she will get better soon . I will try anything to save her ! I can’t give up on her .

@@maryamaamir1689 the symptoms are mainly visual as she lost a lot of weight very suddenly and then no matter what we did she would not eat. She became lethargic and her eyes were very glossy. By the time we noticed that we took her straight to the vets and they could only diagnose based on symptoms (however it could be anything else), we had blood test done which confirmed she had Feline Coronavirus which then was pretty much a confirmation that the virus had mutated and caused FIP. We have another cat and very likely he got the Feline Coronavirus too, but he recovered without any symptoms. Somehow it is similar to our Covid as some people died and other barely had symptoms. Sadly at the time she had it, we had no treatments so it was only a matter of time. She lasted almost 3 weeks. Her FIP was the “dry” one, but if it was the “wet” type they would have put her down straight away and it fills up their lungs and they just suffer a lot.
@@maryamaamir1689 this is where it gets tricky. Blood test can detect the F-Coronavirus presence, but that does not mean it will result in FIP. However, knowing that no FCovid is present excludes the possibility of the cat having FIP. Aditional tests such as ultrasound and XR can confirm if the FCovid has mutated. Also, the majority of cases happen when they are still kittens or very old. I wanted to have my other cat tested at that time, but the vet said that a positive FCovid would not mean he’d also develop it & since the virus is extremely contagious chances were that he caught it but was fine. If you have suspiscion that your cat might have any symptoms the best thing is to speak to your vet and work out a plan to start rulling things out. Sadly the diagnosis is not straightforward - it requires a combination of tests. Hope this helps.
