For those who don’t know Chinese, “shiyilang” literally means “the eleventh son/man (of the house)” it’s because the emperor supposedly has 10 sons so he’s number 11, that’s why he’s called “shiyilang.” “Lang” in Chinese is also the same as “ro” in Japanese male names such as “Ichiro” which means “first son/man (of the house)”.
@@Angetbaby in China traditionally people, especially men, have two names. One given name (at birth) one courtesy name (for men reaching adulthood). Names are considered sacred in the Chinese culture so the given name typically is not pronounced by people other than your close elders and close peers. So for everyone else your courtesy name is usually pronounced.
I liked this scene where Niao Niao said Shiyiling has fallen for her but she was not interested and yet, she does not know who Shiyiling was. She was trying to walk out of the banquet when General Ling walk in and bumped into her. Shao Shang asked who he was. He presented himself by saying, "I am the man who has fallen for you; however, you have no interest in me." This is fo funny.😂😂😂
She was so annoyed with the other snooty girls that she wanted to retaliate any which way not knowing what was waiting for her. But then she was ingenious enough to find some excuse to leave the place avoiding the unwelcome confrontation with the very general but had to run into him. But then she is clever enough to find a way out and in the bargain take her friend with her too.😂 Why wouldn't the General be charmed with this unusual girl?
He only has 2 names, one is given name Buyi, which is used on formal occasions and called by not so close people. the other is Zisheng the courtesy name called by family and friends. Shiyilang means the 11th son/man in the house, because emperor has 10 son and he was adopted by emperor so he is the 11th (shiyi) son(lang).
Totally with you! I was so confused by all the various names as well and had to do research just to understand. Lmfaooo! So many to remember~”General Ling” was the only one that I knew was his name with certainty. 😂
Those noble women trying to throw them off by fancy food they never had . What Niao Niao said made a lot of sense but I bet they won't heed to it at all 😲
the novel has a very happy ending, the drama also follows the novel,so everyones sure that it has a happy ending.also ive heard that the script writer is also the author of the novel.
On the post of another clip of this drama, someone said they part for 5 years in the book, but do not know how many episodes that will be in drama, just to give you a heads-up.
One of my favorite scenes. Little does she know at that time it was true and not a joke hehe
Totally safe to say that I’m OBSESSED with this drama… but then again I’ve been obsessed with just about every drama Zhao Lusi is in lol

But she hit the nail on the head when she said he was in love with her. 😉However, she doesn't know it yet.

In her defense he’s got like 50 names! I’d be confused as well.

If you notice, Shaoshang’s grandmother calls her father dalang, da means big, lang means son, and she calls her third uncle sanlang, san means 3/third

Let’s just say, the ride is worth it. So much satisfaction along the way that you don’t get hung up on the ending.
Episode number?
Ep 7
Episode 8 actually
