Is it really worth buying off key sites? It’s your own moral compass so if you decide that’s what’s right it is what it is
If you have any suggestions for any other topics surrounding the games community let me know!
u worded that wrong, paying 5 instead of 15 is definitely worth the price, just not the right thing to do
i agree with you but yet i am still a brokie so gotta do what i have to do
eh kinda stupid tbh, you are either fully against it or not. You cant just say doing it to AAA gaming is fine as those devs are also reliant on it and if it sells meh or bad then they loose their jobs. And if the game is bad... why would you buy it?
Hi! There is a small chance you will read this but why would pirating be better? I am not trying to argue or be annoying I genuinely don’t know.
In the video you said the keys on the sketchy sites are from stolen credit cards. Are those keys bought off of first party (Steam)? If they are then I assume the money wouldn’t go to the creators because it’s fraudulent, but then why would pirating be better, it doesn’t give them money either?
I am not saying that I will ever use those sites. I don’t pirate either. I am not trying to argue and sorry if I missed the answer to this in the video. I am just curious. Thanks
@@oliverbertrand the money used to buy keys with stolen credit cards gets refunded to the true owners of the cards and the devs don't get a penny from it from what i know thats why they would rather you pirate them rather than buying from sites like g2a where when u buy them only the reseller gets the money

Funny fact. Usually game devs can't do anything against this, because they can't prove that the keys are not legit due to sales. Factorio won their legal dispute because they have never had a sale on their game. The only way to obtain the game legally, was to buy it full price.

It's so utterly insane to me that people who earn their money playing games beg developers for free games. The thought of doing so if I ever "made it big" genuinely never even fucking occured to me
yeah that happens with almost every influencer/creator business if you have 10k-150k followers or subscribers youll ask companies for free games, weed, anything you can review as a small fee for you to probably review it since it costs the company much less to give you some of their product instead of straight up cash
yeah it's kinda dumb. It is advertising techincally, but why ask? Just play their games on streams normally and maybe they'll give you early access or a free key next time they release a game if they feel that you making content is benefitting them. Begging for it is just dumb, especially if you have enough views/subs to pay for it yourself
Most of the ones you get keybeg mail from don't "earn" enough to offset the cost of electricity they're spending.
They're probably just kids and teenagers looking for a free game. Their parents usually buys them twitch and youtube accounts with some followers/subs so they can pretend that they're content creators.
It's not really begging. Professional reviewers often have relationships with publishers, etc. where they get free things to review, usually before release, but if they don't get a copy, they'll usually just wait and buy it themselves if it's important for them. It's expensive to buy everything you're reviewing and the people selling the thing want publicity.

The video discusses the key sources for game key sites and the shady practices of some key resellers, including the use of stolen credit cards and fraudulent keys. It highlights the negative impact on indie developers and the potential risks for customers. Additionally, it provides a tool for finding verified third-party sellers and notifies users when games go on sale.
- 00:00 Key reseller sites like g2a have a bad reputation among Indie developers, to the point where some developers prefer piracy over buying from these sites.
- 02:09 Legit game key sites get their keys from first-party sellers, official resellers, and shady gray market sellers who often use stolen credit cards or scam game developers to get the keys.
- 04:21 Gamers and content creators are requesting game keys for Meteorites 3D to play and stream on platforms like Twitch and TH-cam.
- 06:34 Using gray market key sites can cause financial losses for smaller developers, who may not be able to pay back chargebacks due to low income from their games.

What's sad about first official revellers is that often their prices are higher or same as first party stores offers with regional pricing. So, if I don't have money for a game, I can only wait for sale at official store or use gray market ones (though even they nowdays aren't competitive)
Bit late but while this is true for new games, anything that is a bit older (let's say 3+ years) is usually way cheaper to buy from legit resellers unless it's a game that got delisted or that has some sought-after content.
@@Tomas9970_1 Lateness doesn't matter. Still, the main issue is regional pricing. Most official resellers don't have regional pricing and target Western countries. Usually this mean there is barely any difference or even more expensive. And yearly inflation of local currency in double digits doesn't make things better.

I decided a long time ago that I was no longer going to use pirated software, so I am out of the loop on how people pirate software now. It used to be when a new game or any type of software was released, that there were teams of pirates competing to be the first to crack the copy protection. Later on, once copy protection was defeated and you could easily download a full copy of any game, keygens and registration hacks became popular.
Developers started requiring software to check with them online to verify your license before it would run. People were getting around this by modifying the software to point to alternate site set up by pirates to falsely verify the license. That’s around the time I decided to only use software I legally owned.

In the UK most games that are digital download with no physical copy retail online for between an average of 60-70gbp so if I can get any legit key for 45gbp then I know what I'm going to always do. I generally use CD keys as it's trusted and tested by myself.
I use CDKeys for AAA games, they're a weird one. They don't seem to obtain their keys entirely ethically, but also don't obtain them illegally. From their FAQ it says: "We buy from all corners of the globe to ensure the cheapest possible prices" which indicates they abuse regional pricing.
I stick to Steam or things like Fanatical for indie games... but like you said, fuck those egregiously priced AAA games lol
I used CDKeys for FIFA because it's like a third of the price, but indie games I use Steam because I wanna support the devs
I haven't watched this video, but my main guess is that they purchase gifts and keys from games when they are on sale/discount in large quantities. They then resell these at or below market value such that its cheaper for the customer to drive sales AND to still have profit. It's kind of like those shoe resellers but without the annoying personality.
Edit: I was kind of right. Though feel abit shameful knowing that I do use these sites myself knowing that it was from someone elses credit card... I guess for AAA titles i don't really mind as much because lets be honest their business practices aren't so ethical either so.

I only really buy from g2a when I'm buying skyrim for the 4th time or a similar AAA game.
I rarely if ever check g2a for indie games anyway because most of the time indie games are affordable and not 70 fucking dollars
Based and indie pilled, actually dogwater how much “triple a” games are selling for now for basically just watching a movie with no gameplay
@@KingOfKarma so your saying in your other comments its ok to support crimminals who steal from senile grandmas ... but its not ok to steal from a indie game dev only aaa studios ...
yeah for sure, these "aaa" games are 100 dollars and are terrible, I have not seen a good "AAA" game in fucking forever maybe Elden ring or something but call of duty? nah@@lilwoodiewood3457
3:42 WHERE IS THIS CLIP FROM😂
10 months later did you ever find out?
Just leaving a comment here so that I get notified if someone finds out.
Dev here. Many of those emails we receive are from people pretending to be actual game influencers. I no longer respond to them
Key sites do have their use especially in very poor places, I knew a guy from Venezuela who sold keys on G2A to make ends meet and he managed to make enough to eventually move to Argentina and get a real job
When you want to charge £35 for an indie game and I can get it for £3, I don’t care
I give 0 shits, most of the 250 games on my steam account are from G2A
i have bought 84 products on g2a including games, random keys and dlcs and ive never been scammed and all my games still work.
I find it funny to see the mental gymnastic some people are willing to make here...
"I use G2A only to buy from bad, evil, greedy corporation like EA or Ubisoft. I pay full price only for indie game devs
cope harder
You’re right, that’s why I also buy indie games on these sites
@@legitplayin6977 giga chad
i mean ive boughten a total of 84 products on g2a and not once been scammed and all my games still work so 🤷♂
@@CrazyBanditNexter Reading comprehension is hard, I know
I really didn't know that, thank you for enlighting me!
I always used to crack AAA games and buy indie games from these shady third party sellers because I thought I was still supporting them somehow, just at a cheaper price
guess I'll have to crack every game now if it is too expensive for me :p
that intro took me way back to when I was growing up...
7:32 I prefer to pirate the games.
sorry game devs but the economy is in no state for me to be paying full price for games
Loved the JJJacksfilms easter egg in the video the description
Thanks for the info. I also thank you for sharing the Is there any deal site. That will come in handy for sure.
