Excellent trio-- I barely can pick-up on the amazing soloists. But what ever I cannot hear I fill in myself. Bass needs internal pick up see o we don't miss out on the great solo and intricate werks
The era of ugly bass sounds was introduced by Rob Carter - and many followed suit. Notable exceptions were Ellington's bassists - I'd rather hear a $15,000.00 bass than a $50.00 pick-up.
BTW: Anyone who dislikes Ray's sound is either mentally challenged or deaf. (Already said full of shit - most drummers actually are!) THERE IS NOT AN UGLY BASS SOUND, UNLESS IS A BAD MIX AND YOU CAN'T HEAR IT.
I am musical minded, an am unhappy caus there is so many jazzy notes you cannot even tell what the name of the tune especially the piano player. I heard Gregory Fine play jazz with with his trio, some of Stevie Wonder songs, an he stayed with the melody with a jazzy style, an it was simply beautiful. I am sur the majority of the public will agree. Thanks for reading.
I am a bass player and you guys are full of shit. There was never ugly bass sound and it's not Rob , bur Ron Carter, who did not introduce anything but good playing. I do not remember any Ellington's bassists , but Ray was my teacher and friend and his sound will be forever with us. I have a cheap ($3,000) German play wood with spruce top and it,s not the pick up or bass, BUT a player. How can you say UGLY bass sound? Are you a drummer having problems with time, which used to be a magazine?
Incredibly good. The duet between bass and flugelhorn is great. Ray Brown knew every square inch of the bass. He was the king!
Every time I come back to hear this video again I cry 🥲...
Thank you Maestro, you are immortal.
Из контрабасистов Рэй мне нравится больше всего. Спасибо блогеру за память о гиганте джаза...😍🙏👍
The Ray Brown Trio is a knockout especially with the addition of James Morrison
Ray & Gene were the best. They'll never be another two with such class!
One of the greatest bass players ever. He left us a few years ago. RIP
Ray Brown, the best ever !!!
Terrific !! Four World class musicians. It doesn't get any better...
Top of their class the best group of their time
I can't stop listening to that music...
To the eleven people no disrespect but this is fine playing with complete control off each performer .never mind what's the point trying to educate.
This is terrific jazz!
Nenhum outro compromisso a não ser com a inspiração, bom gosto, sensibilidade. Sensacional.
The first time I've heard James Morrison. Jazz to the core.
I really enjoyed that. Awesome jazz. Great music. Thanks for posting!!
Ray is still the best. I've been listening to him since the early 60's. No one has matched his easy style.
3rdbassman Christian McBride goes alright
NHO is too! you must listen to him
This is what every teenager should be listening to! My friends and I seem to be an extreme minority.
Camaramabama shut up bitch
💯, I agree.
Totally mindblowing
Wow to the pianist.
It is music!!!
Ray Brown. My favorite !!!
Amazing, im blown away
Great player --- i,m 72 years old --- glad I found him .
From the outset, no prisoners were taken.
I must congratulate all concerned on the high standard of videos you present for viewing. It is difficult to pick any one out for praise.
amazing haha! These guys are really inspiring me!
un lujo escuchar esta música!
Jeff Hamilton makes this Band swing no doubt !!
Very nice.
I can't believe 11 people didn't like this video. The is the real deal.
That base did some 'walking'! Fantastic.
The other swung as bad as the one and only Ray Brown. These are the sacred monsters of jazz...I am talking about!
Walking? And trippin them triplets! Whoa!
I imagine that Thomas "Fats" Waller (1904-1943) would be pleased with this fine performance of his composition.
Give some freakin' credit to James Morrison and Jeff too!
😘♥️
Wow I found James Morrison without even looking
Splendid
Swing Swing Swing!
Excelente!!!
excellent :)
Fucking great !!!!
O K james Morrison .
1:44
Who is the flugelhorn player ---- wow .
Well, it was the 90's.
Sydney Town Hall, anno?

It is called IMPROVISATION. The essence of JAZZ. Like, there is no written music in front of the players, see?
I am a bass player and you guys are full of shit.

mrezabek1 yeah BABY!
Are You crazy????
What a horrible sound on Ray's bass - it sounds like a poorly recorded rubber band stretched over a cigar box.
