    B.N. Goswamy, a leading Indian art historian, is Professor Emeritus of Art History at the Punjab University, Chandigarh. His work covers a wide range and has significantly influenced thinking on Indian painting. A recipient of several honours, including the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan, he is the author of more than 25 books, including Nainsukh of Guler and The Spirit of Indian Painting. His most recent work is on the painter, Manaku of Guler.
    Maya Jasanoff is the XD and Nancy Yang Professor of the Arts and Sciences at Harvard University. She is the author of the prize-winning books Edge of Empire, Liberty’s Exiles, which received the 2012 National Book Critics Circle Award for Non-Fiction and the George Washington Book Prize, and The Dawn Watch: Joseph Conrad in a Global World, which won the 2018 Cundill Prize in History. A 2013 Guggenheim Fellow, Jasanoff won the 2017 Windham-Campbell Prize for Nonfiction. She is a frequent contributor to publications including The New Yorker and the Guardian, and is Chair of judges for the 2021 Booker Prize.
    Uday S. Kulkarni has written three historical nonfiction books titled, Solstice at Panipat, The Era of Bajirao and The Bakhar of Panipat. He is currently writing his next book, The Mastery of Hindustan: A Narrative of Maratha Paramountcy in 18th Century India. An alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College in Pune and a surgeon by profession, Kulkarni served in the Indian Navy retiring in the rank of Surgeon Commander.
    Yashaswini Chandra is the author of The Tale of the Horse: A History of India on Horseback, her debut book as a single author. She previously co-edited Right of the Line: The President’s Bodyguard, a volume on the household cavalry of the Indian head of state. She has a PhD in History of Art from SOAS University of London and has taught at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and Ashoka University, Sonipat.
    William Dalrymple is a bestselling author of In Xanadu, City of Djinns, From the Holy Mountain, White Mughals, The Last Mughal, Nine Lives, and most recently, Return of a King: An Indian Army in Afghanistan. He has won the Thomas Cook Travel Book Award, the Sunday Times Young British Writer of the Year Award, the French Prix d’Astrolabe, the Wolfson Prize for History, the Scottish Book of the Year Award, the Duff Cooper Memorial Prize, the Asia House Award for Asian Literature, the Vodafone/Crossword Award for nonfiction, and has, prior to the shortlisting of Return of a King, been longlisted three times for the Samuel Johnson Prize. In September 2016, a Hindustani translation of The Last Mughal was released as Aakhri Mughal. His latest book is Kohinoor, co-written with Anita Anand. Dalrymple is one of the founders and a co-director of the ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival.

    All trying to boast except Mr Kulkarni trying to portray maratha as humble. without art and marauders. That speaks volumes. Mughals on the other hand are shown as greatest of all time, then how the 18th century had best art when marathas were at the forefront was it because we were more liberal.

    yashaswani "sort of " Chandra....how come all of you miss the Great Kingdoms of Darbhanga and Bettiah in all ur stories they were independent vassals since 1300...they were great patrons of art and music ....raag darbari is form bettiah

    Wonderful & brilliant panel discussion.
    #PS- Absolutely atrocious audio system. On almost all the panels this year...the audio system is worse than 3rd grade.
