@@Bobspineable the g-limiter isn’t modeled correctly in game. More importantly, it’s a game. The f-16, for balancing purposes, shouldn’t turn worse than a 104 or phantom
The MLU is actually a very, very modern plane. It's not modeled that way in the game, but as better planes come, I presume it'll be upgraded. The radar in the MLU is an AN/APG-66(v)3, and has massive advantages over all other radars in the game, the only exception being the F-14's radar. But do note that there won't be anything with a radar as good as the F-14's until we get very modern aircraft. Think the very latest 4th gen + fighters.

The instructor can probably deal with a mild instability, but I doubt it should be able to deal with the instability of a real F-16, unless Gaijin modified the instructor a lot.

Defyn, when you’re in ACM mode during a turn and want to lock an AIM-9L quickly, you can change the ACM mode where it gives you a HUGE vertical rectangle so you can slave the missile and get it ready to launch before you even get nose on.
I'm a prop main who has just barely gotten into jets and radars confuse me so much. I really want to understand how they work so I can follow along Defyn's videos better.
Tbh "I can see the burner so the IR is also there" isn't that simple. If you look at a glasspane it's almost perfectly transparent to visible light but not infrared. Water is also not transparent to IR and that's what clouds are. Hell the lenses of IR cameras are made of Germanium which is a metal that's completely opaque to our eyes but great lens material in IR.
That's actually pretty interesting. I thought it was Gaijin just being lazy but it was actually the opposite. However I still would like to see this be less extreme as WT is a game and it can be pretty annoying at times when I can't lock on to a guy 700 meters away while he's afterburning. 1-0.8 KM and under should be sufficient for most of the higher end missiles if lined up properly.
Doesn't it depend on the thickness of the clouds? There's barely any between us and wt clouds will block IR if there's a singular spec between me and the target. I am not saying this particular instance is bullshit but in some instances it definitely is. I shouldn't have worded it like i did in the video however that's my mistake
@@DEFYN sometimes ill be below a cloud and it will still not let me get a lock. gaijin definitely overestimates how much the clouds block the IR signatures
@@chumbucket4539 It might not be an overestimate honestly. Clouds do a have a transparent layer underneath them that could disrupt IR signatures. It may not be able to be seen with the naked eye, but it is there. Now, I'm not an expert, so I could be completely wrong; This is is just my inference.

The AAA issue is really quite simple I believe. If you genuinely need to repair/rearm/refuel that's fine sometimes things are out of your control and being strafed on the airfield with literally no counter-play is boring, especially when you wanted to fight. But if you are one of those players who immediately retreats to the airfield at any sign of a disadvantage (especially egregious at prop tier), you may aswell stop playing the game, as you let the game play itself and importantly you do not learn a thing. If you took that 2v1 for example, you might have won, you might have lost but the important factor here is that you could have learned something, could have understood better how to deal with a future 2v1. That's the part that bothers me the most, it's the obvious lack of willingness to get better at the game, I find it incredibly sad. Maybe a mechanic where it lies dormant until a plane lands, then remains active for a minute (usually average rearm times are shorter) and then switches off for a period. You can remain protected for as long as you need but cannot actually abuse the system.
Well its a 2 sided story,when your the winning team you either want him alive so you can grind then kill him,orrr you and the whole team wants him good so they can move on to the next match,now if your on the loosing team,its you vs anything from 2-12 players,who the fuck wants to fight a 2v12 when you can wait and see atleast 3 die from flying stupid and 2 others leaving the game or just land an leave,if its a 1v3 or 1v5 its like okay with a 1v3 maybe i can fight them all at once,or they all attack me,same thing when its a 5v1 but after that if its a 6v1 they all rush you,you have no way of winning or maybe even killing on,trying is good but somtimes all it does it annoy you when if you waited you could have annoyed the enemy team

Die like a honourable samurai and let him swat me out of the sky? No, I’d prefer to land and J out to at least save myself 15k repair cost.
Flying F-16A ADF, I noticed that if I was able to hold the aircraft through some means or another on the deck at ~800km/h, I was getting 23-25 degrees per second of rate. Nothing currently in the game tops that for sustained rate. Really fun to do in 1v1's if you drag it down to the deck and watch your opponents freak the ever living fuck out. Even funnier when you tap elevator in mid-altitude fights to maintain ~1000km/h in a kind of yoyo maneuver. No one who committed can get guns on you easily at all. Monster of a plane.
The 9L’s were very flare resistant BEFORE the update. They nerfed it for this update which tbh was a good choice. The F-16’s would be absolutely obliterating everything if the 9L’s were performing like they were pre update. And now they can add the 9M’s and just make those perform like the 9L used to.
I think they also had to nerf the 9l's because of the a10 and tram. It was literally near impossible to dodge them at those br's if they ever got a rear aspect shot. If you cut off engine and used 50+ flares the 9L would still track perfectly.
Cant wait for when the “newer” models of the 4th gens get added because the flare spam will be more common making the pain of better IR missiles less brutal to fight against.
The chute was always there I used it on the dev server... They removed it and got it back... what a skill issue from them lol probably got them bugged or something

I see ppl complaining about f16 not being agile enough because of the g limiter and here’s what I have to say. F16 is definitely not a bad aircraft rn but it’s just not modelled correctly. Mig 29 doesn’t have a g limiter if not then not as limited as the f16 for sure. For now, f16 plays like a missile boat which can only dogfight when you lose all your speed which is fine but missile boat play style is just boring consider that a f14 can easily do the exact same thing and dogfight extremely well. Rn if you really wanna play the f16 then just get the adf variant or the Chinese mlu. Hopefully gaijin will change how f16 plays
In my F-16 I seem to only die to either other F-16s, MIG 29, or PD enabled planes. Am I just out skilling these players? Without afterburner this plane flies like a dream (AND this is with a crew level of 1 so it's not pay to win issue either.)
Great gameplay Defyn! I’ve played a lot of the f4ej kai and I’d say you are not using the radar to its full potential. You can bind a key to get a square that locks everything directly in front of you and you can use that to get a fast lock to slave the missile. Second, whenever you are looking above you should switch to the non PD mode of the radar since it doesn’t care about relative speed and you always get a kill with that. Doing those things would have netted you a couple more kills!
That taunt on the chat at the end on the base camper noob was the best part of the video, shame that AF AAA on props are still working (on some maps at least), every time i kill a guy that camping the AF i call them "noob" on the chat. Also, hope you recover from COVID(i got that shit too).
AA on props is a Death zone barrier AA in top tier is ACTUAL proper AI shooting ACTUAL projectiles and stuff at you vs a Death Zone where your plane parts lose HP and die

The Discord link is invalid for me for some reason. I'd love to see a guide on how to fly the Mig23-ML* against 11.7 up-tiers. Since the update 100% of my Mig23ML matches have been against swarms of F14's, F16's and Mig29's. I did fine pre-patch in 11.3 matches, but I'm struggling against the swarms of 11.7. Waves of BVR, radar out-classed, out-turned by everything. Would love some tips.

I have no problems in the short range fight, when i get into it, but that radar shit is so annyoing. I know you can notch, but notching means they have the better position on you usually... the first seconds of the matches are awfull for me. especially in higher rank mig 21s.

Is the Chinese F16 better than American ones just because of the extra countermeasures (and bombs) or does it turn better, does it have a better flight performance in any way ?
irl it had little bit more thrust and a better radar and then later on it was upgraded to block 72 bur as of now the only thing mlu has over the american one is a parachute and more countermeasures
My last few top tier games, I've been in shit scenarios. Including an f14 that dumped 6 phoenixs at me at the start of the game. I was literally just cruising right next to the ground towards the battle field and get bonked by 6 missiles
The F-16s flight model is completely broken. It’s not even close to being apex anything. How they got the flight model so wrong is mind blowing. The only thing I can figure is they didn’t want the F-16 and MiG 29 to cut into their premium sales.
Got thinking, "Runway AAA is way too potent, and needs to be nerfed" is very true but the people who run out of ammo and or need to repair damage, should not be farmed either. Multiple Runways without AAA that are closer to the "front"?

I’ll be honest even if they did, the sheer amount of F-16 and F-14 on the American teams would make it so that plane would likely not be the majority on the team.
aim9L in this game is a joke compared to irl or DCS. Its likely unrealistically nerfed because they decided to add it to a 10.0 plane for some unknown reason, and because the mig29 only gets Flare-60M's.

i think airfield AA should be CWIS turrets, so they can't hit targets as far but are better for shooting people who are strafing

The aim7f does not have an inverse monopulse seeker, it wont continue to track the plane after the radar gets spoofed by chaff.

It’s a mixture of two in game decals that he appropriated but Defyn doesn’t like people recreating it on their planes sadly.

No, but it should be. The block 20 MLU is supposed to have 2 MFDs and a UFC.
@@Dwight511 block 20MLU doesn't exist. Only block 15s were made into MLUs. Properly itd be block 20OCU.

Is the Chinese F16 better than American ones just because of the extra countermeasures (and bombs) or does it turn better, does it have a better flight performance in any way ?
irl it had little bit more thrust and a better radar and then later on it was upgraded to block 72
bur as of now the only thing mlu has over the american one is a parachute and more countermeasures

Airfield AA should not shoot if there is friendlies in the sky. If they're on the ground it should be substantially hard to get close.
My last few top tier games, I've been in shit scenarios. Including an f14 that dumped 6 phoenixs at me at the start of the game. I was literally just cruising right next to the ground towards the battle field and get bonked by 6 missiles

The F-16s flight model is completely broken. It’s not even close to being apex anything. How they got the flight model so wrong is mind blowing. The only thing I can figure is they didn’t want the F-16 and MiG 29 to cut into their premium sales.

It indeed doesn't work against PD radars, you see the radar is strongly locked to that guy but the missiles this patch are so buggy

I’ll be honest even if they did, the sheer amount of F-16 and F-14 on the American teams would make it so that plane would likely not be the majority on the team.

aim9L in this game is a joke compared to irl or DCS. Its likely unrealistically nerfed because they decided to add it to a 10.0 plane for some unknown reason, and because the mig29 only gets Flare-60M's.

The more I use aim9l the more I realize they are basically like r23....same range more or less but they pull way harder. They're better than magics.
