  • This truck is pretty amazing, there are only a few things I'd change if I could. Here is what they are.

    Thuren coils up front and a set of bilstein 5100 shocks was by far the best thing i did with my 2019

      Right on 👊 sounds like a good setup. I keep hearing positive things about Thuren.

    At first I thought the ram head on the floor mat was a dog turd.

      @Gary Sarratt haha well don’t put it past me, with 4 little kids and plenty of pets it could happen 😂 gosh I’d sure be sad though. Trying my best to use it but still keep it pretty.

    Are those floor mats the standard Laramie ones or the optional $150 floor mats? I really like the included floor mats in my 1500 Longhorn. Easily lift them to access the in floor storage.

      @gavinwalker5686  ปีที่แล้ว

      You know I'm not sure. I'll check my window sticker once my truck is near (the wifey is out driving it) and let you know. I'd guess standard all weather mats though, because I have seen other mats that are a hybrid of all weather with little carpet sections on it to be fancy.

    I put 33x12.5x20 with -18 offset rims on my 21 Ram 2500. I've had no problem with rubbing or hitting. I do have a leveling kit on the front though. I think I could go up to a 35" tire and still be ok?

    • @gavinwalker5686
      @gavinwalker5686  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Kevin Thompson you definitely could. I barely rub my 35s, and I’m not leveled. If I was, they wouldn’t rub at all.

    Did you have to remove the black plastic trim in front and back for running boards to fit? Mine won't fit as the bottom trim is in the way

    • @gavinwalker5686
      @gavinwalker5686  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Mpower the only plastic I had to remove was the piece that’s just in front of the rear wheels that is about a foot long and covers that pinch weld.

    • @gavinwalker5686
      @gavinwalker5686  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Mpower also, I think rubbing board attach right to that pinch weld so you may have to take more off, not sure. These are rock sliders, the bolt right to the frame, so it may give a little more clearance although they are pretty high and tight.

      @@gavinwalker5686 I have the rhino dominator extreme and I had remove the small trim in rear if front tire and the one you are talking about for the rear as well as these sit up high as well bit they are mounted to the body and not the frame Ike yours

    • @gavinwalker5686
      @gavinwalker5686  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Mpower I just looked those up, that’s a very nice looking step. They look sturdy and that they could take a beating. I don’t plan on sliding on rocks much, but I want something I could just in case. Those dominators were quite a bit cheaper too.

    Also what truck did you own before you bought this ram

    • @gavinwalker5686
      @gavinwalker5686  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Arne Jahr I haven’t had a truck for a while, had a 2000 tundra, rolled it, 2004 4runner and did tons of camping in that, sold it for a Sienna when I got too many kids, then have been saving up for a truck for a while with a bench seat, so I can fit the whole fam and the gear. I had planned on a tundra the whole time, but the new ones don’t offer a bench seat, and the used ones were stupid expensive during Covid, so started looking around.

    Does anyone use their under floor storage? I like to think I will but they're always empty

    • @gavinwalker5686
      @gavinwalker5686  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine were empty for months, now I've got 9mm ammo and ear protection in one in case I suddenly want to go shooting on a whim, and cargo straps in the other, but there's still plenty of room for more inside each one.

      The ammo in the storage is the cheap plinking ammo, I have the good stuff already in the clip and in the gun, albeit it’s under the middle seat and also not super fast to access, unless I happen to have it iwb

    Do you have any rubbing going to 295/65/20?

    • @gavinwalker5686
      @gavinwalker5686  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes a little rubbing on the front sway bar but only if at a full turn. If I back off even just a little I’m good. No rubbing on plastic anywhere.

    What were the stock tires

    • @gavinwalker5686
      @gavinwalker5686  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Arne Jahr I believe they were Firestone Transforce AT 285/60R20 They are ok tires for just street driving, but they wear down pretty fast and the way the tread pattern is, any kind of Orr roading, especially mud and you’re in trouble. They are probably ok is rain and snow on pavement, but when I bought the truck, is was December in Utah, and I had hunting trips planned and didn’t want to even mess around with wearing the tread down before replacing. Just took them off new and sold the for $500 and bought some real tires.

    • @gavinwalker5686
      @gavinwalker5686  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s definitely a heavy front end, but I’m sure when the shock s were designed they were designed for highway and towing, and just a little off roading. I do look forward to upgrading my shocks someday. It’s pretty bumpy off road.
