The caves are now on my todo. there is a small road at the end of the Bassenthwaite lake that links the 2 A roads it is a nice and quieter spot for photos.
Another great adventure, have you tried wringing the gas cans out to get a little bit more out of them before you but new ones. 😂🤣 A true Yorkshireman just like me.
I use the same butane bottles and have the same trouble butane doesn't flow properly under 4 degrees. Have a look at a propane cooker as that works at much lower temperatures. unfortunately I don't think they do propane bottles to fit those style cookers 👍
Been to this campsite a few times now and absolutely love it. Our next trip here is pitching the tent on one of the hot tub pitches and we can't wait haha.
It's lovely mate... It wasn't exactly a dark skies area so the naked eye couldn't see as many stars as the photo shows. But a long exposure on the sensor shows more than the naked eye can see :)
Il take a look there! I'm currently at dales & tails, wen I arrived they said ' did you come on the recommendation of that guy from TH-cam , I said col, yeah I said, they remembered you, fabulous little place , so thanks again for reviewing these sites in and around Yorkshire...no surprise to you though but it's raining haha 😂
The star pictures were stunning. I’ve added the campsite to our every increasing list. Caves looked amazing glad you didn’t hurt yourself. Take care Gill
We’ve just got back from here an hour or so ago. We saw your video and booked it last week. Really nice place! Great owners too. Did you see the alpacas?!
So impressed with your piece on Wallis Farm Colin we have booked one of the hot tub pitches for our wedding anniversary week cheers for discovering this!👍
Great video and beautiful photos, especially the starry ones. Afraid my eyesight has deteriorated over the last few years and if I look up I can only see a few so your photos were a nice treat.
Love camping in the winter. It’s just the best. I bet that curry went down well. The site looks ace and yes I too spend ages going from pitch to pitch! Have a great week and safe travels ❤.
Thanks for showing us around the site, we have nearly booked that one a couple of times as it’s not too far from Rachel’s Dads - handy. Can’t believe how the weather has changed - we were in Keswick at the weekend and it looks so different in your video with the snow - not sure I would have fancied the ice roads though ! Have a great weekend - all the best, David & Rachel 👍
Nice looking site Col. Not far from the Scottish border. Its warmer up here than down where you are. We're on the coast so that helps. Probably see you later in the year sometime, or if you come back up here.
I was waiting for the camera retrieval in the outtakes after the scramble up the rocks. Didn't disappoint... ;-) Great video and looks like a great campsite.
Those cheap gas canisters are butane, which don’t work well in low temps. Gas expansion when using them cools the butane further (that’s why it works for a bit and then the performance drops off. Butane/propane gas mix canisters work better in the cold, but I’ve not seen them for that type of stove. Keep the cheap gas for summer.
Butane when cold won’t put out a good flame. Also using the gas chills the canister as a double whammy. Save them for the summer as there’s still life in them. You’ll get a brew out of them you tight northerner.
Hi mate, can I ask about your induction hob, is it campervan specific? Where did you get it please? Also Where's you're fire pit from?. Great vlog, keep em coming. Regards, Shaun.
@shaunjohn4591 hey Shaun, glad you liked the video... The induction hob is from the caravan and camping show in Harrogate so sadly I don't have a link. Its by a company called leisurewise but not camper van specific. I belive now that even if it says its low watt that it still pulses at 2k watts when on. The fire pit was from Dub Styling but they've stopped doing them now and I've moved to another firepit that's much better. Check out my amazon shop (just Google Yorkshire pop top adventures and the word amazon and it'll be there... its much better #not sponsored and it's lasted me way longer than the mesh ones. Hope that helps Col
Hi Colin, awesome! have I missed an episode? At the beginning you were set up at a really snowy site?! I need to book one of those hottub pitches ! Great episode as usual. ❤️
Use your 1/4 or 1/2 full cans in the summer not winter. Best to use new gas on winter trips to about half then finish them off in the summer. Otherwise you will have to move out of Yorkshire, probably to Oxfordshire.
Great video as always young Colin, can I ask what Camera Bag you’re using? I’m sure you’ve done a gear video a while back but I can’t seem to find it & you may have changed the bag since then. TIA
Hey Stewart. Here you go kiravans.com/products/swing-out-table-leg-wall-mounted-fixings-not-included - its very sturdy bud, I use mine all of the time. Just remember to put short screws in the b pillar as the fuel filler is behind there
Oooh I’ve been here! It’s lovely! But the road is a little scary in bad weather! Lol
Butane gas does not vaporise at freezing temps. Propane for winter or induction
The caves are now on my todo. there is a small road at the end of the Bassenthwaite lake that links the 2 A roads it is a nice and quieter spot for photos.
Epic caveness n'ting!
Do you want some noodles with that water? 😅
Loved the nighttime sky shot with the van!
Haha I love to (weirdly) drink the gravy from the pot 🤣🤣
Another great adventure, have you tried wringing the gas cans out to get a little bit more out of them before you but new ones. 😂🤣 A true Yorkshireman just like me.
Haha this had me giggling matey 🤣🤣
Yeah I've heard that 70's tune before in a film, I think Ron Jeremy had the lead role didn't he 🤔🤔😁
I use the same butane bottles and have the same trouble butane doesn't flow properly under 4 degrees. Have a look at a propane cooker as that works at much lower temperatures. unfortunately I don't think they do propane bottles to fit those style cookers 👍
Love the photos of the stars and giggled so much as you climbed up the rocks thinking you now have to go back for the camera!
Great video 👍
Been to this campsite a few times now and absolutely love it. Our next trip here is pitching the tent on one of the hot tub pitches and we can't wait haha.
I went to Rydal cave 10 day's ago and parked in the exact space you parked in as well 😂😂😂😂
The camp site looked another good find. It must have been very isolated as those night photos were so full of stars.
👍🏻
It's lovely mate...

Nice video! Rydal is a lovely place! That site looked ace. We’re looking at spots to go in the roof tent, have to look at that

Don't apologise for anything Colin - great vid as always. I have noticed all your techniques are on the up!

Four bloody times I had to do that scramble 🤣🤣

Hi Colin. Did you know that Bassenthwaite lake is the only lake in the lake district.
All others are tarns /waters/meres
Awesome, as always 😊
Hi Colin superb video as always can I ask you if you have cross climate tyres in the van or just normal tyres as it seemed really icy there?
Thanks buddy, they are just normal tyres. I think I'd have struggled if there was any large inclines but just taking it steady did the trick :)
Hi Colin, awesome! have I missed an episode? At the beginning you were set up at a really snowy site?!
I need to book one of those hottub pitches ! Great episode as usual. ❤️
Haha no, I pulled up in the snow in a car park to walk to the caves, then drove to the campsite... you've not missed anything 😂
@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures phew, thank goodness. On the sad side, I thought I might have another episode to watch. 😂
Beautiful scenery again this week Colin. Great vlog and glad to see the Pot Noodle back! Btw, is it my eyes or is your front reg plate squint?
It's totally wonky mate 🤣🤣! I fitted it with a hangover 🤣🤣
Thanks
Get yourself some gas with that 😂 . this site has been out most visited. Can’t fault it
Absolute legend thank you so much.... that'll get me plenty of gas (and pot noodles 🤣)

Hey Colin,
Loving the vids !!, I noticed you had a really cool rucksack with a rear opening doo you have a link
Thanks mate.... its called the Loweprp flipside 450 - an epic bag for walks and keeping your camera gear safe
I really like your mat. Is your mat from Outdoor Matting Company? I'm really after one.
Yes bud that's exactly where its from. I love mine
Great video as always young Colin, can I ask what Camera Bag you’re using?
I’m sure you’ve done a gear video a while back but I can’t seem to find it & you may have changed the bag since then.
TIA
Thanks buddy.... its the same bag (Yorkshire man 🤣🤣) and its called the lowepro flipside 450
Thank you 👍🏻
Hi, great video as usual. What is the base you use with your fire pit? I need one!
Hey buddy, thank you! It's just called a firepit ground protector (loads on amazon) totally worth it to not.scorch the ground or your outdoor mat
Great video Col, I see you’ve upgraded to pot noodle with the TH-cam money 🤣
Hahaha that's exactly what I did... the payment came through that day so I thought sod it 🤣🤣
I’m on my 1st solo camp, are you still in the lakes? I’m in settle tonight.
Ah no mate, im usually a few weeks ahead with my vlogs so I've been back a while since this vid... have fun
The aircraft was anRAF Texan T1....yes yes im a spotter ;) Might hace to visit this place only 40 odd minutes from home ..
Hello. Apologies if been asked before but do you have a link to your B post swivel table? Is it sturdy? Thanks!
Hey Stewart. Here you go kiravans.com/products/swing-out-table-leg-wall-mounted-fixings-not-included - its very sturdy bud, I use mine all of the time. Just remember to put short screws in the b pillar as the fuel filler is behind there
@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures Thanks for the quick reply!
No problems buddy!
Rydal cave is 'in' Loughrigg Fell, pronounced 'Lufrigg' Fell 😉
I knew at the point of saying it that I'd said it wrong 🤣🤣!
What do you do with all your photos sir,
I upload them here for people to purchase or look at if they wish davidcharlesphotographyav.pixieset.com/landscapephotography/
