I was a fortunate 13 year old in 1972 in Kanpur who went on a hunger strike unless my parent send me to watch this test match at Green park and luckily they yielded and I saw that inning on the first day. I did not know much about cricket but the beauty of his shot was classic and I was screaming and dancing whenever he hit a boundary. I became a cricketer from that day on.
Extremely well presented video on great Vishwanth. Rehan Fazal deserves all the praise. This is finest resume of little master. I must confess honesty of great Sunny for rating Grandpa higher than himself so did Lilly, the legendary fast bowler.
The greatest square driver of all time , 18 test centuries , 17 victories for india , salute to this marvelous batsman , am lucky to have seen him play at the Eden gardens , 139 in the 2 nd innings against Clive Lloyd's West Indians, and yes india won that text match
@@pankajkumarpandey6658 without helmet , without chest guard , without arm guards , and not Andy Roberts alone , remember they had vanburn holder , Bernard Julien, Keith Boyce to assist him and last but not the least Lance Gibbs, probably the most under rated West Indian bowler ever , remember he was the first bowler in history to get more than 300 test wickets
I was in 10th class when he scored century on debut at Kanpur. What a career. He had as much fan following as Gavaskar. Great cricketer and he is my all time favourite Indian cricketer. His greatest Innings of 97 was against WI at Madras in 1975. Perhaps one of the finest innings any Indian played.
The legend Vishi....I was in Eden Garden....witnessed this maestro taking on Andy Roberts, Vanburn Holder, Keith Boyce, Lance Gibbs. It was a classic inning
The finest cricketer of all time. Great human being above all. I wish I could meet him. If someone can give me his contact I will obliged. Hero of my life.
He was among the utmost best of his times I saw him live very few times in 1982 Pakistan series, perhaps his last series, he could not play up to his potential in that series He was our captain in golden jubilee test against England and still remember how he called back Ian Botham despite being given out by umpire, a real sportsman spirit A great player, a great human Feel proud that he is an Indian Love you vishi
I always think.he was best Batsman of Indian cricket iam hv seen his kolkata ining against WI in which he hits 52/139runs n India won that test.He was great
Not the Takat, but, the Nazakat. Simply outstanding.A Sawambhu….Watching him play might give an organism to a real cricket lover. Sincere apologies for my language.Kindly forgive.
Aaj kl k daur me aise sportsman spirit wale players bahut kam milte hai. Wow Vishwanath.. I want to see his batting pls upload any video clip of Vishwanath
I am glad to know that Gavaskar treated Vishy as a better batsman than himself. It is news for me. Wrist Assured is the most apropriate title for his biography. Pataudi had the talent to spot talent and nurture it.
Vishi was perfect n technical batsman. In many testmatches he has shown classical wristy shots especiall when he had hitted sqare cuts n loafted shots. He was called the little master of our team.
I was in the stands watching his 97 not out in Madras. He was my cricketing idol. The man of crisis and my most favorite cricketer from India along with BS Chandra Shakar, kirimani and Venkatraghavan.
Vishys chanceless century in Melbourne against Lillee and Pasco when other struggled needs mention of finest Indias cricketing moments. India won that match. Another superlative innings was century at Lords along with Vengsarkar which ensured that India drew when allmost all had thought England would win easily. Overall there was no batsman who was better than Vishwanath those days!
His cover drive was so beatiful to watch. He was fully matured batsman . he was playing cricket whethr zonal. League friendly Ranji or test for good play. So he is great. Since 1956 I watching cricket matches but I found the best to my thinking only Vishy Salim Kapil Bedi chandra Sunil Dhoni and Yuvi were best to my judgement . need comments if any
Vishy has been my favourite player for all the time. I remember - how I used to bunk college & just stuck with radio - listening to my dearest Vishy & his immaculate strokeplay. It was the only occasion when everyone in my family supported me without any complaint. Bcoz everybody knew - that I m an ordinant fan of Vishy & even today!!
The mighty wrist of legendary Gundappa viswanath woes a lot to legendary Captain Tiger Pataudi..Actually records donot give the true caliber of these people: Vishwanath, Gavaskar & Tiger Pataudi,Chandrasekhar,Bedi,Prasanna. Vishwanath is a 10000 run & 30 century batsman.Gavaskar is a 15000 & 40 to 50 century batsman.Bedi, Prasanna & Chandra would have been 300 wicket bowler.Chandra would have been the highest wicket taker of the World with 350 wicket. That is because both Prasanna & Chandra lost 4 precious years at the prime: Prasanna because of his Engineering education and Chandrasekhar due to an unfortunate scooter accident. And Tiger would have won many tests for India, had he got the services of Gavaskar & Viswanath in full measure. Both of them played under Tiger but very few tests.Gavaskar--Viswanath in batting & the Bedi--Chandra--Prasanna in bowling formed a romantic chapter of Indian cricket history.
In addition, Ajit Wadekar, Prasanna, Bedi, Chandrashekhar, Venkatraghvan, Eknath Solkar, Abid Ali, Farukh Engineer, Karsan Ghavri, Madanlal. What a fantastic team it was. 🏆📯
I am fortunate to have seen his Kanpur Test Century against Bill Lawry team. Remember many occassions when India would loose 2or 3 early wickets in swinging condition only for GRV coming in to steady the ship. I feel quite peeved not to see him occupy important place in Indian Cricket, which would certainly have helped Indian cricket.
Our childhood idol. We became his instant fans when he scored 139, 97 and 95 in successive tests against West Indies in the 1974-75 series. We in our early teens were not quite familiar with the nuances of the game, but were busy collecting newspaper clippings and getting awed by the pics in Illustrated Weekly, Cricket quarterly and other magazines. My generation was not lucky enough to watch him on the DD because he retired in 1982 itself. The man in crisis and a master technician he took on Roberts, Lillie, Thomson, Holding, Willis, Imran and Sarfaraz with elan and ease. I was overwhelmed when I shook hands with him in 2007 in Visakhapatnam, in an event organised to felicitate him. India never lost when he scored a ton. He is the best.

उनकी एक 222 रन की इनिंगमें मेरी याद से 40चौकार थे.
😊
😊
All time great & most stylish batsman. A highly honest cricketer, who never waited for umpire's signal for giving him out.

14 test century bhai
I have seen Calcutta test when GR Vishwanath scored 139. He was class batsman. It was very difficult to play Andy Roberts without helmet.
