☀️Boatswain's duties and responsibilities
A) Heads the Deck Crewmembers; Supervises the Maintenance of the Deck; Monitors deck stores and spares, hatch covers, deck cargo lash and other duties assigned to him by the Master.
B) To guide and supervise subordinates and assists the Chief Officer.
C) Delegate to deck crewmembers the various tasks assigned by the Chief Officer.
D) Make efforts to motivate his subordinates by guiding them with their work and report details to the Chief Officer.
E) Work hand in hand with the leaders of the other department onboard.
F) Responsible for the maintenance of parts, accessories and tools.
G) Distributes ship’s stores and devise ways of cutting down cost on the consumption of his items.
H) Perform shipboard repair.
I) Submit to Chief Officer accomplishment report for each voyage, as per maintenance plan.
J) Record jobs carried out by the Deck Department.
K) Ensure that subordinates have complete knowledge of various orders, rules and notifications.
L) Assist during bunkering when instructed by the Chief Officer.
