Hey guys, took a lot of time out from making videos for a while for a variety of personal & professional reasons which I will explain in my next video. Yesterday I finished my new website so it no longer looks like it was made in MS Paint :) I've also finished and uploaded a new 'Future' pack that you guys might be interested in: synthhacker.com/ Thanks for the continued support and yes there's gonna be tonnes of new content this year! Peace x
Hey, just out of curiosity.. where do you learn sound design? Any books/websites/or series of videos you recommend to really understand a synth to make cool sounds?
I did a Music Tech degree although I wouldnt say that contributed much to sound design knowledge, mainly just tinkering a round for years trying to recreate sounds I liked
Have you done a tutorial on the very quick arp that you hear on most future bass songs? That's definitely a rare thing on youtube, would LOVE to see that!
hi synth hacker please make one of this sounds.. skrillex&must die - vips (the synth at the drop, sounds like air whistle) skrillex-stranger (the synth at 1:30) Skrillex - Ragga Bomb (Feat. Ragga Twins) [Skrillex & Zomboy Remix] (the synth at 2:44) Getter & Ghastly - 666 (the famous rave hoover at 0:31) Barely Alive - Back To Back (the high pitch synth at the drops) you are amazing.
Tom, you got very unique content. You are good at explaining things. If you got a free time and want to make different tutorials, I think the basics of sound design would be useful for many people and will make them come up with their own unique sounds. For example, the function of cutoff to a frequency, envelopes, and many other elements that shape the frequency. I think the internet lacks good basics. Thanks Tom for your time!
Love your video so much. If you have any time do you think you could do a video on the lead sound at the drop in the William Black remix of Gareth Emery's Lost. I really love that sound but have not found anything online like it. Thanks for making epic videos
your tutorials are amazing. i was wondering if you actually made any tutorials on EQing and mastering? i believe you would be able to, actually, explain the basics in easy terms. this is the main reason i like your channels and subscribed to this one. 😀
Hey Tom, nice Serum (and Massive, but dont use it) -toutorials. I am a beginner in the music production and would ask you, how i can do some sweep uf FX or sweep down. There arent some good Serum FX toutorials :( I think, you can do that, and would ask you 4 that. Dont finish to do those amazing toutorials. GJ
Tom, love the tutorials, super helpful stuff! Quick question, how do I make those drums? You got them pretty close to the ones JAUZ uses. Any tips? Thanks so much.
Bro, PLEASE, make a tutorial for the drop synth like Major Lazer's "Roll The Bass" or first drop of Boaz "Flippo". I can't fine tutorials for that synth type (Boaz v\d Beatz type?). I also spend so much time trying to make some thing like this by my self but i'm too mad in sound design...
I'ven watching your tutorials for a while, your videos are really helpfull! I have a request. Can you remake the main lead from "Can't Get Enough" by Lucas & Steve. I have searched and NO ONE has a tutorial like that. Thanks in advance :D
Do you ever think about making tutorials about how to properly mix these types of sounds? I can get them made just fine and the when I add a kick and other elements it never sounds right :(
Just curious why you switch around from Massive to Serum. Are some sounds harder to make on one vs the other? Wonder because I'm looking to learn either Massive or Serum and preferably not both hehe
Could you PLEASE make a tutorial of the sort of "pluck" in the verses of "Now or Never - Tritonal"?! I've been dying to find that kind of sound since I first heard the song! :O Please senpai, notice me! x)
I have a request for when you get back if possible! :D Zonderling - Keep On / Pretty much just any Zonderling Track. The Lead Sound he uses, that wobble thing you hear in Keep On. Sounds amazing!
the sub-bass osc wouldn't be playing anything eh? I tried soloing it and nothing was coming out, having no amp means no signal doesn't it? im new to massive
+Robert Davidson Once it's routed to the bypass and you turn the bypass volume up you should hear the sound, regardless of the oscillator amp parameter.
Hey Tom! Excited for more tutorials. Would be really nice to see your take on Dongkong's future bass synth drop in his remix of Ben Esser's "Love you more" - soundcloud.com/crispycrustrecs/ben-esser-love-you-more-donkong-remix-1
Hey Tom, Love the tuts! Thanks for that! I would love to see a tutorial on how to make a "Com Truise" style synth similar to the one in "VHS Sex". th-cam.com/video/h_4fQDZPutA/w-d-xo.html You can hear the synth I am talking about around the 1 minute mark and throughout. It sounds like an heavily reverberated and detuned old VHS tape!
Can you maybe do a tutorial on the lead of this song? :D soundcloud.com/wearegraves/graves-x-debroka-silver-fox Its a really nice trap lead! Been looking for these kind of synths for ages

Thanks Jamie, appreciate it!
Did you take courses or anything like that to learn all you know about synths? Or, did you just spend lots of time tinkering and messing around?
I did a Music Tech degree although I wouldnt say that contributed much to sound design knowledge, mainly just tinkering a round for years trying to recreate sounds I liked
