    I struggled with curves too much as well now I’ve gotten a bunch of practice and can hit them with almost no problem.

    I’m in high school and I went form a #2 spot hitter to a 6 mostly because of curveballs. This helped me a lot!

    I get it now! I love this channel, my mechanics have gotten way better but now im working on pitch recognition bc your swing doesnt matter if you dont have both.

    The ‘sink’ also helps you swing on the same trajectory of a curveball. Ie not flat.
    Had never put that thought into words but you nailed it with that description.

    Thanks for the video Coach. Used damn near every video you've uploaded for my team.. They're 13U this year so anymore info on drills to.help with hitting off-speed pitches are much appreciated

    Great video as always! Question, would a wider stance help to keep your hands back?

    Thanks for the tips! Do you think you can make a video on how to use your hips in your swing? I’ve always been told that I need to use my hips more but not sure how to go about doing that.

    • @UltimateBaseballTraining
      @UltimateBaseballTraining  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should check out the video where I show the "Ballistic Backside" drill! That will really help you use your hips better!

    Great video on the mechanics of hitting the curve/breaking ball but that's only half the story. Do you have, or can you do a video on what needs to come first.....pitch recognition...and what helped you see it and make this mechanical adjustment.

    Hi ! I’m a junior high school baseball player from Taiwan I want my batting skills get better
    Could I send my batting video to you and you can point out what I have to improve?

  • @glennkrzeminski7539
    @glennkrzeminski7539 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is all great if you recognize the curve and recognize it early. If you only recognize it when you see the ball “bite,” (maybe after you’ve begun your swing) you doom yourself to topping grounders. How do you spot the deception early?

    I watched this video and a million others and got the same advice from friends and tried and failed in game. It was when I actually hit curveballs (off a machine) I got better.

    hey coach justin , i wanna know if you think this will be a good twist to the drill. how about have someone at the mound and when it’s a fastball act like that’s what they’re throwing , no difference in their arm motion , and when they throw a curve have that flick in their hand or a difference in their mechanics. so once you get older we can realize the pitch faster.

    • @UltimateBaseballTraining
      @UltimateBaseballTraining  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a really good drill to do! MOST pitchers, at least until you get to college, will do something different that gives away when they are throwing an offspeed pitch. I think your idea is awesome!

    Reminds me of how Beltre would sink to a knee to hit those offspeed pitches, obviously an exaggerated version but still awesome.

    @rafaelvargas5304 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Justin, your videos are great but I have a question. When we sink for a curveball, do we rise up or just stay there?

    • @UltimateBaseballTraining
      @UltimateBaseballTraining  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. You rise up a little bit, but the sink is very, very small. You're not sinking 12 inches... you're just getting a little lower to the ground to buy you some time

    • @rafaelvargas5304
      @rafaelvargas5304 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok thanks. Now I'm gonna go practice.

  • @insaini87
    @insaini87 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey man, nice video.
    I am trying to sink more to buy time find it hard.
    I noticated you didn't sink much in your example swings at 6:45, and 8:24. You paused though at 6:45. Does that work for you?
